Visited on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner with my gorgeous wife. For an appetizer we had the hanging Pretzel and a lager. I had the Dynamite Shrimp, which were fiery but tolerable and good. My wife had the Steak Bites, which she liked very much. We flushed our food down with an old fashion and a margarita. When the advertise best cocktails in town, we are in agreement. Inside feels kinda divey, the patio is where it's at! Fast service, nice employees. Somebody was trying to smoke out there, even though there are signs prohibiting it. I have been to Old Town Bar & Grill a few times in the past 6 months but had forgotten its name and was curious to return to see if the burgers were as great as I remembered. Yes, they are. I brought a few friends, one being the original burger taster after a day of wine tasting in Newberg. You have a choice of fries, tots or a side salad with the burgers. As much as I like fried foods, I opted once again for the salad. It's not just a bag of lettuce thrown on a salad, fresh and good!! The reason I wanted to review the place is that originally, the wine on tap was NOT local and I thought that was a disservice, since it's smack in the middle of wine country! The chalk board listed 5 local wines, so on that note, highly recommend this place. The food as well as beverage menus are massive and my other friend had the quesadilla with smoked chicken. Passing by the area and decided to stop here cause they're pet friendly (patio) inside looked nice with TVs and sports on with a full bar. Outside seating is spaced out and good shade from the building next door. Great fast, friendly service from everyone. My cousin and I visited this establishment last night on a whim, and we were immediately greeted by the bartender upon our entry. He offered for us to sit anywhere we liked, and shortly thereafter, we were visited by a female server who asked if she could get us anything to drink. We ordered a couple of iced teas and got them rather quickly. Things were looking good to start, but went increasingly south as the service progressed. We got our burgers in a fairly reasonable amount of time, but they were very lackluster. The meat was bland, and there was no nuance to the sandwiches whatsoever. I'm an average cook who's not especially good at cooking meat of any kind, and I've made tastier burgers at home. I was told the fries were not beer battered. They were. I requested ranch dip on the side. Never got it. I ordered a beer. Had to ask a second person to get it. I ordered another beer, but had to walk to the bar and ask again to actually get it. Not once did anyone come by after our meals were delivered to check how we were doing. Pre-bussing must not be in the staff's vocabulary, because no one saw fit to pre-bus anything on our table- empty glasses, plates, nothing. Our dirty plates sat before us for some time, until I finally got up and placed them on a small nearby table. To top things off, after delivering our $100 ticket and taking our money, the female server simply said 'thanks'. The flies came by our table far more than the staff. Not joking. I'm sorry. I don't care to spend money on very subpar, virtually nonexistent service, and I can eat lame hamburgers at home. Never to return. read more

We had the BEST clam chowder ever yesterday for lunch. It surpassed any clam chowder we have ever had anywhere; and we order it often. It was thick, creamy and full of clams with a few potatoes - a delightful, delicious nourishing chowder. We also ordered a house salad which we shared. It had a freshly made in house vinaigrette dressing. It was delicious! We learned Kyle makes his great chowder for serving on Friday and Saturdays only. After reading some reviews I was looking forward to coming here. When we arrived, we were not greeted by the two bartenders. I was looking for a place to sit they did not give any directions. My date and I sat for at least 10 minutes ( gracious estimate) before anyone came to the table. The bartender asked if we wanted anything to drink and handed our menus to us. He did not suggest any of the craft brews or craft drinks and seemed disgruntled he had to wait tables. He left and returned with my dates drink and asked if we were ready to order. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. I watched as a group of at least 20 people walked in and was not greeted by the same two bartenders who had been at the bar. It was obvious to me that the people were looking for direction where to sit after about 10 minutes. The group walked out front at no time did any staff try and help them they eventually left . Our food was delivered by another male staff. There was no silverware with our meal. He didn't even say anything to us after about five minutes of my food getting cold, I had to ask one of the bartenders for silverware. When I got my fettuccine Alfredo, which I have ordered at other restaurants, I noticed it did not have a creamy white sauce. The sauce with this fettuccine was very oily only cheese on. It was the grated Parmesan. There was plenty of shrimp however they were not cooked. A couple of shrimp were actually still cold when I bit into them. While we ate our meal, not one server came to check on us. One server did come by and placed a bottle of water down but said nothing to us. I was not impressed. I know businesses have an off night, this really threw me off with all the five star reviews. I don't know if people were just being nice or actually had a better experience. I know if I was a manager or own the restaurant and a table of 20 came in and I lost their business I would be upset. Maybe it is par for course for this restaurant. read more

We've been to Old Town a handful of times and have always had a great experience. The service is always friendly and attentive. They seem to cultivate a positive atmosphere. I like the interior. It's one of those old style bars with lots of character. Food always comes out fast and is always pretty tasty. I've never left feeling let down. The menu is pretty much what you would expect from someplace that calls itself a "bar & grill" Its fun to try the different beers & ciders they have on tap and they seem to have a lot of cocktail specials as well. Personally, I hope my cohort holds a graduation dinner here and that Greg is our bartender / comedian / creative genius. Sadly, we can't reserve a space for 20+ people because OTBG doesn't take reservations (for compelling reasons), but I think we can figure it out and time drinks and food here after graduation but before the crowds (it was crowded here on a Wednesday early evening). I wish I had discovered this place sooner than today--it's a perfect pub with a full bar and killer Mac and cheese. Plus, there's Greg, whom I first heard about on day 2 of our studies. The local place that always has what could be called a crowd. It has walk in and feel comfortable layout. It's a seat yourself kind of place. The menu board with specials is as you walk in. Always good to find a seat and plenty of TV to watch sports They are smart enough to put more than one sporting event at a time Food can vary. It is a bar. Some of the food comes out looking better than what you thought. The flat breads are excellent. The salads are good. So some of the appetizers are well less than what the description has you imagine. Drinks are varied in pricing. Some seem to be over priced others are right in line with everyone else. They have a very wide variety of beers and wines. The electric menu rotates through based on well I don't know I'm guessing weekly impulse. Overall a pleasant experience. read more

Great first visit. The bartender who waited on us was super friendly and helpful. She is a huge help to this place. (I don't remember her name.) We had the spinach and artichoke dip. Loved the slight jalapeño heat, not overbearing. Wish there was a little more dip to match the amount of chips. I had the fish sandwich. It was fantastic! Great blend of flavors- between the tarter sauce, coleslaw and halibut. Btw- really liked the tarter sauce. A little different but great flavor. The flat breads were both great. Think the Italian meats was more popular. My son in law Loved his burger. Only minor dings were the tots were a little cold, and the side salad lettuce was a little wilted. Minus 1 star. My daughter and I went in for dinner tonight. We ordered our food and all that was delivered was the over priced $15 wedge salad. I didn't say anything when the salad was delivered "assuming" the salad always comes early. Nope! The older waitress said she didn't put it in and that she came back to the table to give us more water, that I didn't say anything. I was trying to be patient as thought they were still cooking it. She tried to put it back on me. At that point, my daughter was done with dinner and I just wanted to leave. WTH has happened to customer service. Ordered a rare steak, it came well done and was white in color on outside. Sent it back came medium and still white. Found out they microwave their steak. Well, I've been sitting in the restaurant for 10 minutes. The place only has a few people here, there's a couple of employees behind the bar that saw me walk in. I sit here and no one takes the time to come over to acknowledge me or take my order. I want a drink and a burger but I guess they don't have the time. I stop in here every time I drive through town and it's always been good before, I guess it won't be any more. Service isn't what it used to be, maybe now you're supposed to order at the bar? This might be the best kept secret of Newberg!!! We stopped in for lunch on our way out to wine country for some wine tasting. The service was attentive, not overbearing, the guy who helped us was easy going but knew how to make a REALLY yummy cocktail. We were BLOWN AWAY. We ordered a whiskey and tequila based cocktail and they were both so delicious- so balanced and fresh and beautiful! (See pics!) The pretzel app to start was the BEST PRETZEL we have ever had! We then shared the turkey-bacon-avo sandwich and OMG there literally aren't enough words for that sandwich- JUST GET IT. The soup was hot and so flavorful as well. I cannot wait to go back. Go here! My friend and I came here this evening with 3 kids total in tow. We were able to seat ourselves at a window booth. The service was wonderful and they checked on us regularly. The drinks and food were also great. I had the Baja fish tacos and they were so good! Kiddos loved the Mac n cheese and chicken strips. They ended with the root beer float for dessert it did not disappoint. We traveled about 15 min to get here and it was so worth it. Can't wait to return thank you! read more

I've been to old town a couple of times now and it meets my expectations every time. It's a nice little bar with good food, great cocktails and a pretty good beer selection on tap. From the outside walking into this establishment it's got great curb appeal. It's a cute little building. When you walk through the door, it looks really clean and the atmosphere is kind of quiet which I appreciate. There are a few tables and booths and a bar top, but there isn't a lot of seating as this is a smaller place. I've sat at the bar every time I come so I can just sit and watch sports. The staff is very friendly and they make good drinks. The food is what you'd expect at a bar. Sandwiches, burgers, soups and salads, and a handful of apps like wings and soft pretzels. I've only had a couple of food items but they were really good. My personal recommendation so far is the giant soft pretzel! It was so good I had it both times I have come in! Their tots are good, but honestly you can't screw those up. I came in on Sunday morning for nfl playoffs and had a Bloody Mary made with their house infused veggie vodka, it was so good! That infused vodka really took it up a notch! If you're hungry during the week after work and need a drink I highly recommend stopping in!
