We live nearby and drop in for cocktails off and on. We have really tried to embrace this place. They don't ever recognize us or treat us like locals. They pour me (and everyone I'm with) the weakest drink. I'd understand that better if we were passing through. Unfortunately, they're the only dive in town. Even on my birthday they were lackluster. I dragged my partner here against his better judgment tonight. I'm sad to say that after 10+ visits, I'm not coming back. ($6 for a WELL vodka, soda, splash of cranberry, $5 for the extra shot of vodka because the pour was worse than poor) As for food, we've eaten here four times. It's a mixed bag. Just went here for the first time last week. Had lunch some of the best cheese and onion enchiladas I've had in a long time. Really liked the salsa also. Nothing fancy just good home cooked food. Plan on going back for those enchiladas. read more

I'm sorry but this place is literally disgusting. With everything going on in the world with Covid-19 you would think they would have stepped up the cleaning protocol. Nope! The menus are still the same menus, caked with who knows what sticky mess and are clearly not being cleaned between guests. The high chairs were ALL a mess with beans and dried meat on them. Also obviously not cleaned between uses. The table was also sticky. SO disgusting. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Sorry but we will NEVER come here again and would recommend everyone else do the same. I guess I should also note the food also wasn't good. The meat in the enchiladas tasted chewy and gross and my husband couldn't even eat his Chile Relleno. The chips were basic and the salsa was watery. No thanks! read more

Second time having this place. Ment to write a review after the first time but totally forgot I had it saved in my drafts. Nonetheless here's my review. I came from hillsboro, so it was a bit of a drive but totally wroth it. My grandfather was hungry so I decided to take him out. Everything tastes fresh and the service is outstanding. Both times I had three cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Chips were a bit on the cold side but the fresh salsa makes up for it. Salsa is spicy but not too spicy. But this is a Mexican restaurant so if spicy food isn't your thing maybe you should find another place to eat at. Both times it wasn't that busy. First time there was two other families in there and last night we were the only ones. I do hope they stick around. Prices are reasonable and the inside is very clean and open. read more

Super nice staff!!! New place and you can tell. Got orders wrong and forgot my daughters order but made it right and didn't charge us for her quesadillas. I ordered the Tuesday dinner special two pork tacos,rice and beans and a Corona. Was ok but was $12.00. That seems a bit much for a special to me. The portions are small for the $$$! My mom in law couldn't get eat her taco shell that her taco salad came in, she said it was rancid oil. Thought she was overreacting, so I took a bite and immediately spit it out ! So we rolled into town on a day hotter than hot and we needed a quick bite to eat. I'd intended to grab some provisions at the local market, but then I saw Margarita's and remembering my husband's request for a bean and cheese burrito - I made a detour. They've opened recently so don't be put off by the lack of hustle and bustle. In fact, I highly recommend eating at the bar where hopefully one of the town locals is there too to tell you loads of amazing stories of Carlton. Newish Mexican restaurant in Carlton opened about 2 months ago from today's post. Our waiter was very nice. Chips come with salsa and bean dip. We had the shrimp and fish cheviche, which they brought out octopus and shrimp but were very nice about re-doing the order. They put effort in plating the food beautifully, and so you may wait a little longer than usual. They didn't have any dessert on menus yet so they made one up for me! They also offered fried ice cream, but I went with the vanilla ice cream and hot crispy churros :) They lack lighting outside so it is difficult to find at night, otherwise, it's a very clean and nice atmosphere inside. read more

Went there for lunch with my wife not busy at all. Ordered 2 chicken taco platter. 4 people came in behind us and everyone got their food first. Including my wife who ordered the chicken burrito plater. She had to go back to work since we sat there for 40 minutes waking on tacos? Not sure if it was because I'm Black.But one thing for sure is they will never get any recommendations or our business from us ever again! The best part of our experience is that I left the waitress A 6.00 tip on a 17.00 check. And we just moved here from Minnesota 6 months ago at that point. This experience was terrible. They don't follow any covid protocols. Everybody was without a mask and even the bartender (Yo-yo) would take hers off or have it under her nose. Not to mention a bug was found in one of our waters and when we asked for another she never brought it. I usually love this place but tonight was not enjoyable at all. They do not have any signs up saying what time minors are not allowed in so when my siblings showed up to eat with us they were yelled at by Yo-yo and told they had to leave, even though it is not posted anywhere. It was also very dirty in the restroom with no toilet paper. Maybe they should hire more staff or get rid of the rude staff? read more

They had terrible service! 2 people in our party did not receive food and one order was completely wrong, the ones who did get food it was very salty. My wife and I have heard about this Mexican restaurant in Carlton but finally got a break from the kids to go try it out. It was really great. Very casual, good food, good service, wife loved her margarita . Would definitely come back. There's a few Mexican restaurants in McMinnville but if we have the extra time to drive out to Carlton, this would be our first choice. Keep it up Margaritas! P.S. Horrible food. Chips were cooked in what tasted like old oil, salsa was watered down and flavorless. We ordered Tortilla Soup, the waiter came back and said the cook told him they were out. My husband ordered nachos. The chips were so gross he couldn't eat them. I ordered a chicken dish with onions and mushrooms. Not one onion or mushrooms and the chicken was so tough I didn't eat it. I was there on July 28th 2017 has a beef tostada, rhe meat was very dry and the flavor was awful. My dinner looked like a pile of lettuce not what i ordered. Best Mexican food I've had in Oregon in a long time. Awesome Chili Rellenos. My wife loves the chicken chimichanga. Big menu, great drinks. They give you bean dip with your chips and salsa. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but the food is well worth the wait. read more

Great food, great service, and kid friendly. We were staying nearby and walked down to margaritas for some food and atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The only disappointment was the actual margaritas. We were hoping for a good margarita but would say that they were less than stellar. Stick to the beers and you'll have a perfect meal. read more

Absolutely excellent! Food was amazing- the seasonings and sauces are so, so good. rich and deep, with layers of flavor. Hard to chose from the many unique items on the menu. I had molcajete, a new dish to me, and will definitely order this again-but only after trying a few other items of course. Love my Mexican food, and since my husband and I moved to Carlton a few months ago we figured I' We'd better give Margaritas a try. We went in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday so we were the only ones there. We got seated immediately by a very nice gentleman and ordered our usual for Mexican food -- Chile Verde plate for husband and Chile Rellano plate for me. Both were excellent! We waited and waited for our check but never came.. finally had to walk back to the bar to pay. Went back a couple of weeks later and ordered Chile Verde again. Was a completely different sauce! Was like they made a horrible white sauce with a microscopic drop of green food coloring just to give it the right look. My husband doesn't like to complain so he tried to eat it, but in the end just couldn't do it. Such a let down! Unfortunately, don't think we'll be going back. read more
