I had a pair of pink sapphire and pearl earrings, and the clasp was a little loose. I was happy to see that stores offer services like jewelry cleaning and repair and made an appointment for the same day. Walter provided amazing service - he explained how my gold earrings worked (clasp needs to be "lifted" a little to be secure since it becomes looser over time) and fixed them right away. But to my relief--and amazement--it turns out that Gul had already done all that work for me. Without me even realizing, she had hand-selected a diamond that checked every box. In fact, when I went back to the Blue Nile website to compare diamonds with similar specs (color, cut, carat, and clarity), none matched mine as perfectly when factoring in all those subtle but important details. I purchased a diamond set over 10 years ago via online. I saw a commercial on a major network and did some research. I was contemplating getting a Tiffany set, I decided to go with Blue Nile online. While at the mall today I noticed a Blue Nile store and asked about upgrading to a larger diamond, it was a couple hundred dollars more. Came back with my wife and the sale-person was at lunch. Robert informed me that to trade in I would have to purchase double the price of what my original diamond cost. I just stated that I was not informed about an hour earlier. Robert got a bit condescending about his diamond knowledge and all that sale-pitch jargon and that he had 30 years experience in the diamond business. Then I informed Robert that I did my homework before I ordered diamond online, only a fool would do so otherwise. I took a chance with Blue Nile and I was satisfied with that purchase at that time. However with this experience I don't think I will be doing business with them again. I have attached pictures of the diamond I was looking at to upgrade.
