I have other luxury watches but I do not currently own a Rolex. I was hesitant to go to look at Rolex watches because of negative experiences that I have heard from friends with other Rolex dealers. However, I had a wonderful time at DeVons looking at watches. I've heard horror stories of customers being disrespected and having an awful time at a Rolex AD (authorized dealer.) However my experience here was outstanding. Robert took care of me and I was happy to learn from his expertise. He was kind and courteous and immediately treated me like a friend. I appreciated his insight and honesty. If you are not aware, you cannot walk into a Rolex AD and buy a watch. They are all sold out. So you are essentially looking at watches and putting your name on a waiting list to be able to purchase a watch in the future. That is not DeVons fault, that is just the current market. I had a major knee operation. And it required a second surgery. I'm hoping to commemorate the resilience and recovery with the oyster perpetual. I was so thankful that my first experience in a Rolex AD was at DeVons and with Robert. I understand that the current economy in Rolex watches has waiting lists. That is just the reality. The take home is that everyone at DeVons treated its customers with respect and made them feel welcome. I found out that DeVons not only offers great jewelry and luxury watches but they can also do beautiful custom work to bring back to life family heirlooms. My mother passed away few years ago but before she died, she gave my siblings and I one cabochon stone each that was part of a multi stone pendant passed down from her mother's mother. It is not the quality or grade of the stone but the actual history and sentimental tie that make this stone a very valuable and a special treasure for me and my family. For years I hesitated to do anything with this stone fearing that it could be damaged or lost forever. I have the pleasure of being a DeVons customer for few years now where we have a very nice relationship and friendship build on mutual trust and respect. My family have bought many pieces of DeVons jewelry collections and also some beautiful watches but it was not until last year that I decided to take our trust to the next level and we asked DeVons if they could do a custom work on a family heirloom. I worked directly with Matt Teresi on this request and gave him a quick history on where the stone came from and how it has been passed down from generations to generations and what it meant to us. Like many Yelp users, it takes an exceptionally good or extraordinarily bad experience to prompt me to write a review. Cliff Notes for this one: It's the latter. I'm an existing Rolex customer, but since the closing of the San Francisco Boutique, I've been hoping to find another sales associate at a Boutique or AD to help with future purchases. I saw that it was close to home, so we stopped in to DeVon's. Upon entering, I asked to speak to someone about watches. The gentleman behind the counter seemed like he would've rather been doing anything else. He remained slouched back in his chair - never even bothered to introduce himself. My fiancee and I pride ourselves on treating others with kindness and respect, so despite what could be perceived as bad manners, I attempted to continue the conversation amiably. My questions were met with curt non-answers. He avoided eye contact and rarely looked up from his phone. It didn't take long to decide that this wasn't the store for me. You hear the stories of rude sales people frequently. Even amongst the brands with the snootiest reputations (think Hermes, AP, Patek), we've never had that sort of experience, so we just assumed the stories are overblown. This interaction - however brief - epitomizes the worst of luxury retail. I've tried to understand why this salesman behaved the way he did. Perhaps the store makes most of its money in jewelry? Maybe they don't get allocated many watches and it becomes tiresome for the sales team to field inquiries that they won't be able to fill... No matter the reason, I can't help but think that customers should be treated like guests. We've been back a couple of times since, and were actually met by much more welcoming sales people. The thing is, that first experience still overshadows any since. I've come to the conclusion that even if DeVon's called me to offer me an allocation for my favorite model, I'd rather wait much longer to buy elsewhere than deal with or support the first salesman I met here. Maybe that seems unfair, but I believe that every single member of that sales team is a representative of the business. It's a shame; we originally had hopes of finding a new Rolex AD and a jeweler for our engagement ring. Had that first interaction left a good impression, we may have considered a ring from DeVon's. Instead, we ended up down the street at Sharif & Co. Over the past few weeks, every member of their staff have been warm and welcoming whether they had already met us or not. At the end of the day, we ended up with a ring that is everything she wanted, but we're still searching for our Rolex Boutique/AD. I'm sure that losing a single customer is of little consequence, but reputation matters. After years of dedicated effort to build a strong reputation, it wouldn't take much to ruin it. read more

When I asked in-store, the manager, Mike, accused me of reselling their watches online--an unfounded claim. I never sold their watches and stopped any resale years ago. Rolex employs an artificial scarcity model as a marketing strategy. That's fine--it's effective for a luxury brand. We've been visiting DeVons for about three years now and have purchased multiple Rolex watches. However, not a single one has come from DeVons. Instead, every purchase has been through other authorized dealers we've encountered while traveling. Despite our continued interest, DeVons has never offered us a watch. We recently completed our 5th rolex purchase from an AD in the midwest and now have a complete collection: a no-date sub, date-just, Daytona, explorer and GMT. It is disappointing that our local AD never came through for us and did not want to be a part of our journey. It's clear they prioritize high-spending clients, which is understandable given the affluent customer base in Sacramento, Rocklin, and Reno. However, if you're a watch enthusiast looking to commemorate a special moment in your life, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Once again Austin, and Devon's, did not disappoint. My wife and I received five star service. Austin has gained a lifelong customer. If you've ever purchased a Rolex, this was my first time, you know how difficult it is to obtain these very popular watches. Austin worked overtime and was able to get both of our watches within a very reasonable time. Also to clarify a lot of the rumors, and bad information I had received, when you purchase a Rolex at an authorized dealer it is at MSRP. When I originally was looking for a Rolex, I noticed many shops had a 30% mark up on them. Double check before you purchase, these most likely are not an authorized dealer. My Husband and I were looking to upgrade my center Diamond on my main ring; When we went in, we were greeted by one of the salesman named Austin, told him what we had in mind and he got right to work on showing us some ideas. We didn't make a decision then, but did come back a couple more weeks later and worked again with Austin.
