We are new and found out via mailbox. Went for the 9:30am service with our grandparents and 8 week old. Upon arrival we were greeted and we checked in our newborn for their kid services which was fantastic. This allowed us to enjoy the worship and sermon in peace. The worship is what you'll hear at contemporary churches which we were used to already. Sermon was great would definitely return. They also had coffee and donuts and clean restrooms. read more

I am a African American gay woman and visited this church for the first time on 11/5/23. I read the website before attending, and it seemed like it would be a great place to worship and a place for my six year old granddaughter to possibly meet new children and learn more about Jesus Christ. However, I was very disappointed with the lack of warmth and friendliness from the people. I walked in and saw a welcome stand where a Caucasian male was standing. He never greater me or welcomed me. I stood there looking around, trying to figure out where to enter the sanctuary. Eventually, a gentleman and his wife heading into the sanctuary introduced themselves to me, and welcomed me. Had it not been for this couple showing the live and warmth of Christ in them to me, I would give my visit a one. The message was very good, but it's sad to see so many so-called believers so themselves to be unfriendly and welcoming. Thats why so many people don't want to attend church. read more

I went here today for my first time. Immediately I was happy to see coffee tea and donuts. I grabbed a glazed, and walked in Blue Oaks. I was greeted with a pen and paper and went into the auditorium. The three songs were played nicely and I appreciated the ambient music and vibe. The Paster Matt spoke really well too. I felt everyone can relate to his message about Saul. I uploaded the pamphlet so you can refer to it. As I was leaving the service after it finished, I asked one of the ladies to point me out to the New Guest area. I was greeted by Judy who was very warm and kind and was given a cup and info on where to find a nice womens group to join. I was an Easter/Christmas Christian for most of my life. At 52 I was beginning to feel a restlessness inside that no amount of therapy, travel or vicariously living through my child was going to satisfy. I knew it was a spiritual deficit but I was wary of organized religion. Too much hypocrisy and judgement was ingrained into my brain. A friend who I respected greatly invited me to Blue Oaks - I felt an instant sense of "home." I've been attending BlueOaks ever since. Blue Oaks Church has been meeting at Hart Middle School for about a year and a half. We've consistently attended, almost weekly, for over a year. They have gone to 3 services - all are good. We've seen a solid commitment on the part of staff and volunteers to create a faith-based community having a healthy environment. Blue Oaks is committed to serving the community (local and world wide) through feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, responding to those in need due to natural disasters, etc. Matt is the Teaching Pastor - his teaching is relevant, insightful, bold, funny and he frequently pokes great fun at himself. The teaching is based on scripture, applied to the situations people face every day. In other words, it's not a vacuum life, it's real life. Real situations. Real people - who want to know how to follow Christ in their day to day lives. Jeremiah is the Youth Pastor -- he is a great teacher and very funny. Hilarious and engaging. Blue Oaks uses just the right blend of media and music, too. The worship time is great. The graphics are good, and the themes presented in teaching series have been meaningful to us. Generally, the first weekend each month there is an extended snack and coffee time between services. Over the summer, we had a church BBQ. We've met some nice people. When you enter it's easy to find out information and have your questions answered about where to go, where to take the kids, and what's going on that you might like to get involved in. Another aspect we like are the small groups, where you can really dig in and meet people to form a support network. Groups are available morning, evening, weekend, monthly, weekly, etc. We've found these groups to be very helpful. There are breakfasts for men (what guy doesn't enjoy a hot cooked breakfast?) and vibrant activities for women, such as the annual Christmas dinner. Blue Oaks is a great cross section of society and culture. Lots of "real people" here and we like that. There are singles, students, career, college, families, young marrieds, military families, blended families, new families (just having first babies) empty nesters and couples. My husband and I attended Blue Oaks for the first time about 18 months ago with some friends, and we are now regular members. This was our first experience of a church in America (we emigrated from the UK 2 years ago), and we really appreciated the welcoming relaxed atmosphere and engaging messages from Pastor Matt who is very easy to listen to, and always strikes the right chord with us. The church has recently moved to Foothill High School to accommodate a larger congregation and the new facilities are great. The worship team is fantastic and the musicians and singers vary from week to week so it's great to see new faces on stage. Blue Oaks is a very family oriented church and has a great children's and teens ministry, as well as onsite childcare for every service on Sunday. Care in the community is very important to the church, and they regularly partner with local and national charities to hold events and fund raisers. This was especially evident over the Christmas season, with a different charitable event each weekend to get involved in. Blue Oaks also has a wide variety of groups that you can join that meet throughout the week, ranging from more traditional Bible studies to cycling clubs. If you want to extend your network in the church, meet new people, or progress on your spiritual journey there will definitely be a group for you. Overall we love being members of Blue Oaks and are thrilled to have found such a great church to attend. We start going to Blue Oaks about 2 years ago. We really enjoy Pastor Matt teaching. I can understand and relate to our daily lives. I start joining small group, too, and I met wonderful families that we can share our lives, our struggle, our believe in God, and we support each other. I've lived in Pleasanton long enough to have visited many its churches at one time or another. My home church has been one in Dublin for at least 5 years but it has recently gone through some pastoral changes, etc. A friend mentioned Blue Oaks Church which is currently out of Hart Middle School (where my boys have all gone...how convenient!). AWESOME! Everyone I have spoken to is so friendly and they welcome you with open arms. They do not push you but rather just let you do your "thing". But I can see why there seem to be so many volunteers. Blue Oaks seems to foster a very friendly and family like environment without pressure. The teaching pastor always seems to deliver relevant Bible based messages in a very articulate and engaging manner.
