I waited over an hour each time I have had an appointment. It felt very much like a rinse and repeat operation. 3 visits. first is an intro, then a biopsy and then some surgical procedures. the problem is they don't tell you what's wrong or what the risk is. it's just 1-2-3. and a bunch of bills in between. I was called repeatedly by a desk person to schedule a "surgery" and never once heard from an actual doctor to tell me what the biopsy results were. imagine getting a voicemail from an admin that says - hey we need to schedule your surgery; you hear nothing from an actual doctor. after 2 months of having the biopsy taken I finally actually received a letter explaining results vs some desk person calling me to schedule a "surgery". I'll never go back here. the letter is signed by a "doctor" that I've never heard of or met; I looked him up and he's a PA and not an MD. I'll be going elsewhere so it feels less like a heist and more like we are actually patients being seen by doctors who care. don't go here. read more

It is All a lie!! I had a minor procedure for a very small cancer spot on the side of my nose. 1st My stitches came loose and a couple fell out. He asked me if "" I took my stitches out"" HOW CRAZY IS THAT QUESTION??? He restiched my nose and added 2 more stitches. Now my nose is scared, red and badly shaped. Terrible customer service. I called for an appointment three weeks ago and they said I needed a referral from my doctor. I have been to Blue Ocean before and was looking to renew a prescription. My doctor had to fax the referral to them twice. I called many times to see if they received, finally last Friday I spoke with a man in the office, at first he said they hadn't received it and then he said he found it and set any appointment for Monday May 19 at 11:20. Over the weekend I had many texts confirming my appointment. After making the 20 minute drive to the office for my appointment the receptionist said that they hadn't received authorization and that my insurance company wouldn't pay for the visit. I asked her if she could call for authorization, she said no. I also asked her why the man that set the appointment on Friday didn't tell me that I needed a referral and authorization or that she didn't call me this morning as she could see I had an appointment scheduled. As soon as I arrived she seemed to know that I didn't have what was needed but didn't take the time to call me before I made the drive to the appointment. She replied I don't know I haven't been here last week. I asked her about all the text I received and she replied that is automated. I asked her if she could do anything to help me and she said no. I left the office very upset. I called to talk to the manager who was out of the office and spoke with a nice lady in billing telling her my situation. She said she would try and call for authorization even though that is not in her job description. She said she was sorry for the poor customer service and they have spoken with the staff about this problem already. Obviously the staff don't care about providing good customer service to their patients. I have not heard back from the office and am very disappointed with my experience at Blue Ocean. they took a LARGE biopsy on my arm for skin cancer, I have waited 3 weeks for results. They do not do testing "in house" so I have to wait until results are returned. I was seen in the LPGA office beginning in Sept. Was interested in botox to lessen a horrible wrinkle/line between my eyes. I agreed to the botox procedure and was very excited. The assistant then discussed filler for around my eyes. It sounded wonderful so I agreed. Long story short, the botox was fine, but only lessened the wrinkle. Also didn't last long. And the filler was a mistake. It apparently settled wrong and I had to have it dissolved because of it forming a heavy bag on the left side. It's been 3 months and I'm pretty embarrassed to be seen without sunglasses. Dr McGriff has seen me several times and I truly like him. He was not the one who influenced my decision. In fact, he has had me come back several times in order to check on me. I do wish I had not been encouraged to do this particular procedure (by America). I don't know why this has happened. I feel like my eyes look so much worse than they ever did before. I look like an owl. A costly mistake. I just recommend getting as much info as possible beforehand. I usually don't write reviews, but our experience with Jason Welch, owner of Blue Ocean Dermatology had to be shared. As boaters and ocean lovers, my husband and I started getting annual skin checks and consequently basal cell procedures ie., "scrape and burns," excisions with stitches, and Mohs procedures. Not aware of Jason at Blue Ocean Dermatology, we went to another local provider because they accepted our health insurance. We refer to them as the "Butcher's." With every basal cell removal, it was literally like being butchered. I could write a book about the horrific nightmare with each procedure, but that's not the point of this review. Fortunately, the "butcher shop" quit accepting our insurance. This led us to Jason Welch at Blue Ocean Dermatology. After meeting him and his staff, we felt like we won the lottery!! Although the real reason for this review is to let you know there is a huge difference in healthcare providers, I'll share only two examples. My husband had a Moh's procedure two years ago by the "butcher shop." They dug a deep hole in the top of his head the size of a golf ball with over 90 stitches. He had another basal cell carcinoma above his temple that needed to be removed. Understandably, he flat refused to let them butcher him again. This past February, I had two basil cell carcinomas on my shin. The "butcher shop" dug two massive holes in my leg, sent me home with grossly inadequate after care instructions and said see ya in 3 months. When I called with concern about pretty intense pain, major swelling and lack of any healing after 8 weeks, their instructions were to let it dry out. That's it. Of course, a thick scab formed. I wanted/needed another opinion so I went to see Jason Welch. Safe to say, he was horrified. He brought in his entire staff and showed them what not to do and immediately went to work on my leg. First, he debreeded the thick scabs, performed infrared and red light therapy, prescribed precautionary antibiotics and had me come back weekly for treatment. The healing began. What a relief!! We were so grateful and impressed with Jason and his staff, my husband finally agreed to let his office perform the Moh's procedure on his temple. They made a very small incision, and he healed within two weeks. Unbelievable!! You might think that just because Jason Welch and staff are the absolute BEST at all things skin care, his prices would be higher. Not the case at all! In fact he is much more reasonable than even the horrible "butcher shop." We learned the hard way, you do have a choice in skin care providers. With immense gratitude, we will forever be patients of Jason Welch!! read more

Visited Blue Ocean Dermatology today to remove several unwanted marks and growths. Dr. McGriff and his assistant Jeana were terrific. They were kind and efficient and the whole process didn't take very long at all. I was a bit concerned before I arrived but within just a minute any trepidation was gone, This office is wonderful and how many Dr's offices can you say that about? I took my son 6 months a go for minor wort infections we never get to see the doctor only the nurse keep putting over the counter wart freeze solution and when I showed her that his wort are getting bigger and have more she decided that the next visit the doctor will cut them off so we did go for the 3 time and the some nurse showup and put the same solution and asked us to come back in a month. now not only they have got over 1400$ from my insurance they are shursung us to pay more for a job never done. my son's wart got worse and because of all the pain they gave him he refuse to go to another doctor. they by far the worse read more

Jason Welch and his staff are amazing. He really knows his stuff. I made an appointment with him after he saved my best friend's life by finding a melanoma. It just looked like a harmless freckle/mole but luckily it was found early. He just knows what to biopsy and what is ok. He really cares about his patients. I went here to get my skin looked at. I was having break outs on my arms and legs and had some other issues with cysts or tumors on my legs. The doctor's diagnosis was "yeah you have all kinds of issues going on" she didn't give me an idea of what the problem was, why it might be happening or how to help the situation. That's literally all she said and then "i don't know" to any questions I had. She prescribed me some lotion and said see if this helps. What a terrible, uncomfortable experience and waste of time and money. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE! I had an appointment on May 5th to have a few spots on the arch of my foot looked at. They changed color and since I have a sibling that has had melanoma several times, I thought it wise to have it looked at. Dr. McGriff did an exam and said that he wanted to do a biopsy because sometimes cancer cell hide behind something or another type of Fungus. I was schedule for another appointment for the following week to have this done. My idea of a biopsy was scraping the top lair of the affected area instead I got a 1-inch incision that was apparently deep enough for dissolving stiches. I was told more than once the I would get a call with the results. I was not given any instruction for the spot that remained. Two weeks went by and no phone call, now it was time to go back and have the stiches removed, no results and still no instruction on the other spot. A week went by and I called again, no results. I called again on June 6th and was told the spot was just a fungus, there was a prescription they would call in and they would need to get me in for an appointment. I advised that at the point in time I would not be coming back. I called the pharmacy to make sure a prescription had been called in and it had. When I got to the pharmacy to pick it up, they advised me the it was going to cost $700, you can on imagine what I thought. Thank God for the lady at the pharmacy who helped me and got the cost down to $20. Here it is June 27th I have left messages and an email in my patient portal and NO return call. My foot is red around the incision and my foot feels like it tingles all the time now. read more
