Jorge is a friendly guy who makes great wooden tables and benches. He becomes pretty slow at responding after you place the order, which is really frustrating. But he delivered on time and the product was good. Found Jorge and Blue Pocket Studio when I moved to LA and needed a dining table- I had gone to places like West Elm and Crate and Barrel looking for wooden sets but they were all $1000+ for the table alone and due to the pandemic shortages, I wouldn't receive it for months. Instead I went ahead and visited Jorge's studio with a lot of skepticism- to my surprise, he was super nice and showed me around his workshop which was pretty impressive. Jorge has one other guy who helps him construct these tables and they're both extremely professional. We ended up getting a reclaimed wood table and bench whitewashed that is beautiful and sturdy for way less than the big furniture companies. And unlike those companies, Jorge delivered within 4 weeks. I do have to say that there were times Jorge didn't answer my texts/calls immediately but it's totally understandable given it's difficult for him to manage the business while building. My girlfriend and I recently moved into a house and were in dire need of a dinning table and bench. We love reclaimed wood, natural wood, and live wood furniture. We found Blue Pocket Studio though an Airbnb rental we stayed in. The Host, who we follow, had recently bought a table from them and posted on IG. My girl went on their page fell in love with their tables. We met George the builder at his LA studio to see his work and see if this was the place we were going to buy a table from. We were looking for Spring table with a natural fall live edge to it. From the beginning he was straight up about not being good at texting back but if you call him its a better chance to get him which is true. Where it got bad is his estimate on the work being done. He estimated 2-3 weeks and we got the table a little over 6 weeks in. Where it really almost fell off the rails for me is when I talked to him and scheduled a pick up day. I live 40 miles or so from his studio so its not a quick drive. We agreed I was going to arrive no later than 4 pm. I messaged him to let him know I was on the way. I get a call when im a few exits out (40 minutes drive there ) that the table was not ready and he really messed up. I was furious and took my anger out on him almost making me get into an accident on the highway. It was bad. We went back and forward a few times and he was saying people wait up to 8-9 weeks to get their furniture sometimes. If that is true then start with that next time and people will be more understanding especially with such poor customer service. He did apologize and agreed to a free delivery and he also agreed to a small discount so I guess it worked out at the end. Over all the table came out great. read more

We found Blue Pocket/Jorge through Craigslist last summer after purchasing a new home. We're gutting the entire house so were looking for an outdoor table we could eat and entertain at for the next couple of years while we work on the interior. We care for an elderly parent and needed a bar-height table to accommodate him for family meals, and after months of looking realized we were really looking at a custom table. Luckily we found Jorge, who makes just what we were looking for at a reasonable price. Not so luckily, we didn't check Yelp, and that was our first mistake. My boyfriend discussed our needs at length with him before deciding on a table. We ordered an 8' long bar height table, two bar height benches and 2 bar stools in June 2020 and were told he was backed up and they'd be delivered in 4-6 weeks. We paid 50% down. 6 weeks came and went, we were still eating on our coffee table, and Jorge wasn't answering calls or texts. After months of not hearing from him, Jorge delivered a table after dark on Thanksgiving. We were ecstatic because that meant we'd be able to eat together as a family for the first time in months. We paid the rest of our bill. Unfortunately the next morning we realized he'd delivered the wrong table; what we received was only 6' and standard height, not bar height. Only the 2 stools were correct. He promised to make it right and said he was backed up but he'd get us the right table ASAP. In the meantime the outdoor dining table we received weathered badly while sitting outside. I didn't have a cover for it as it was the wrong size, and we assumed he'd be picking it up in a week or two. The table is rickety and all the finish that had been applied has now come off in the elements: not awesome for only a few months outdoors. It's been on our patio under a roof but had to move it several times to get it out of the way of construction, and it is not standing up well to that either. He stopped returning my boyfriend's calls this May so I stepped in; he answered my call right away and was very apologetic. I figured I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. He explained (months after delivering the wrong item) that the table we wanted could not be constructed of redwood (a wood he had suggested in the first place) because it was too large for so soft a wood. He also said the style could not be done at that scale. We talked options and he suggested a different style in Douglas fir, which I agreed to because, well, he had our money already and we were still eating on the coffee table. He offered a stain or scorch at no charge to make up for the mistakes, which I thought was nice. I hoped the scorching would allow it to better stand up to the elements. I asked him for a realistic, conservative delivery estimate so we could plan, and he said 2 weeks. You can guess how that went. May 19 he offered me a delivery date for the following week. I told him I was open, but didn't hear back. Two weeks later, he accidentally phoned me when trying to call a different customer. A week later I nailed him down again and he gave me a delivery date for the following week, again apologizing profusely. The day before I hadn't heard from him so I called and texted to confirm a time: no response. Our delivery date has now come and gone and he's not answered calls or texts from either me or my boyfriend, and we have been trying to reach him daily. We're now over a year since we first ordered the table and are asking for a full refund and thanks to him refusing to take our calls, we're stuck going to PayPal for it. Do yourself a favor and buy elsewhere. read more

Just got my table, and it is everything I could ask for. I got a 7'4 ft long table with a bench -all for under $1K which is amazing. Communication wise, you'll definitely need to send multiple follow ups to get an exact ETA of when your table is arriving. That's understandable though - he's basically managing this whole business by himself (he leads a small team I believe) while also working on the table himself. I recommend just following up with him (calling him seemed to be more efficient vs. texting). If you're patient, it's worth the wait. I already got so many compliments on my table. read more

I was getting a flat piece of wood replicated at a larger scale Jorge told me it would take him one week to finish my project I contacted 2 weeks later nothing 3 weeks nothing 4 weeks nothing not a word of communication from him. Reached out to Jorge after seeing ads on Craigslist and then visited his shop. He was somewhat informative at first but then had a strange attitude when we inquired about a couch, in addition to a few other items - didn't think too much of it at the time. We didn't place an order at that moment since we wanted to double check sizing and materials, he seemed almost annoyed with that as we were leaving. Fast forward to the next day, we decided to proceed with items we discussed and wanted to know how to move forward with the order, availability of materials, etc. Jorge was vague and took long to responde, it seemed like he wasn't interested in the work... During our first visit, he had mentioned that he doesn't get a lot of orders for couches, but never mentioned not wanting to take the job. After dealing with a some slow responses and "are you ready to place the order?" Messages While we still haven't discussed details, we decided to pass on everything. Highly recommend Jorge! The table and benches he built us are really beautiful. He let us visit his studio and showed us around before we decided on what we wanted. We were so excited to get an amazing custom built table at an affordable price. It took a little longer than expected because we ordered around the holidays and he got backed up with orders. But he delivered the table for free as a nice gesture for our wait and was really accommodating. Ultimately we got a beautifully built table that we'll have forever and reclaimed wood benches to fit our kitchen. Would definitely go back to Jorge in the future. read more

I found Jorge online in my search to find a dining table made of REAL WOOD that wasn't churned out of a factory somewhere. His prices seemed too good to be true so I took a chance and met with him in his studio. He showed me all my options at all different price points and even if I wanted to choose all the bells and whistles you could pick for a table, his prices were STILL incredibly competitive for what tables are selling for in chain stores. So I placed my order, knowing in advance that I was ordering at the peak of the holiday season. I'm not gonna lie. I had to wait longer than expected for my table. But what I got made the wait absolutely worth it. This table has character and is absolutely beautiful in person. It is not surprising that Jorge is so busy because the product he is putting out is extremely special and I feel very lucky to get to keep this in my home forever.
