With a lot of contractors, there would be a light of hands on management in the day to day but with MG Contruction, they ran the whole operations seaminglessly while keeping me up to date on the progress. Having been busy at work, they save me a lot of my time and hassle from having to spend too much time reviewing this project. They are well organized and Michael definitely has been doing this for a long time. The pricing for his company is more than fair for the high quality of work. Both James and Max were great when I reached out with questions, they were very responsive. A big thank you to his awesome team who helped build the deck and showed up everyday with a smile. One of the reason why I went with MG Construction was because Michael's eagle eye was able to notice certain detail of the job that that the other contractors who provided bids overlooked. This was a 10 day project. Every day, they cleaned up after themselves, and were on the job site at least a half an hour before commencing work. Our deck is beautiful, but when we bought the house in 2017 it was already kind of falling apart. I met with the number of contractors and Michael and his team were the only ones who were super responsive, knew exactly what they were talking about, noticed things that other teams had not noticed, carefully explained why certain elements would have to be added to enhance the safety and stability of the deck and had great ideas and cost-effective ideas to keep the deck looking nice yet practical. We had a relatively small but time sensitive project (it needed to be done by Thanksgiving). After 27 years of living in our house, we finally summoned the courage to deal with our aged and ailing in-ground spa on a back patio. We sought out some options (one ridiculously astronomical bid came in a month after their initial visit). And then Mike from MG Construction & Decks came over. He listened our ideas, assessed the situation and had a very simple solution: just remove it. Pull it all out, remove the concrete slab behind it to create a larger and safer single level space. They would match the existing brickwork into the area of where the spa was and further recommended that we put in an Astroturf patch as well. He gave us an estimate during this meeting. We truly didn't know what something like this would cost but we felt his bid was fair and reasonable. The verdict? We are very happy with the outcome. The work was done in record time by a terrific crew who were prompt, polite, and professional. Jeff, the Project Manager, was a pleasure to work with. It was SUCH a relief working with MG! Having tried several times to start our decking project, hiring them led to it being completed beautifully! They showed up, worked efficiently & respectfully and knocked everything right out in a matter of days. Their workers are top tier and they know what they are doing! Some issues arose with another vendor we were working with because the deck needed to be built to their specs. While that vendor was VERY difficult and unhelpful, the MG team was patient and saw us through to completion. I've been meaning to leave this review for a while now. I have used MG Decks twice. Once for our backyard deck and again for our driveway fence. We could not be happier with end result on both projects. They are extremely professional and perform high quality work. On both projects their prices where competitive with all the other quotes we received. Max was our project manager on both projects and he is easy to work with. The owner Michael, is accessible just in case any issues do come it. Other contractors have come over to provide quotes on various projects we want to line up and they have complimented the work MG has done. You know they do good work when the competition praises them. Like I said, we have more projects we want to accomplish in the coming years and would definitely use them again. We were looking to add a deck and pergola in our backyard. We interviewed a few contractors and decided to go with MG Construction because the owner Michael had a clear and creative vision for the layout and finished product. They weren't the cheapest option, but their proposal was straightforward and they stuck to the cost schedule. Our timing was unfortunate as we started the project last summer, just as the supply problems in L.A. were at their worst. The materials for our deck sat on a boat in San Pedro harbor for 3 or 4 months. Nevertheless, MG's crew had done some initial work while we were waiting, and then resumed once the materials arrived. The project manager Max and their in-office person Natalie kept me up-to-date on the project status and were very responsive whenever I had questions. Our deck is made of "ipe" which is a Brazilian hard wood. The finish is amazing! It has a flap that opens where we can push the jacuzzi cover in, then closes for a clean look. The stairs have inset multi-colored lights. It has a bench at the back for seating and storage, and a little storage cupboard in the front. All that's missing is the canopy above the bench (to be draped from the cantilevers) and the seat pad. The photos speak for themselves. Facing that tough choice? Once I met Michael (the owner of the company) I knew I was going to hire his company for my deck and interior renovation. We had a fence and patio deck done in ipe and the result is magnificent. The crew, led by project manager Jeff Jones, was easy to work with and responsive. We had some special circumstances that had to be taken into account: an access door for the crawlspace under the building that the HOA insisted be built into the project; a covering for a water spigot at the far end for which a small removable box was built, and a double-sided steel-frame gate.
