We have been loyal customers of Blue Point since it opened, but whether there are new owners/management or new folks steaming - their crabs are NOT what they used to be. For the price, the large are not large- the meat is unpredictable (cold, mushy, absent) and the seasoning is inconsistent- mostly bland now. Great food, horrible counter service. Rude, unfriendly and miserable. She definitely was bothered to have to wait on us and even more frustrated at minor questions. When my order was ready, still the same chip on her miserable shoulder. The sign no crabby attitudes on the wall is funny, because the order person was definitely crabby! King crabby! The counter person would prevent my business, because who wants to pay 100.00, to be treated like crap. Hopefully it was just a bad moment or rough day for her. I get it, I understand, life can be hard, but she couldn't be inconvenienced from watching a video on her phone, so it probably was normal behavior. On Friday, Blue Point Crab House ran a special $6 dollar large steamed crabs. We ordered 2 dozens, and they were nice size, smelled good, and felt heavy. I was quite disappointed in their taste. I would say that a dozen or more were so mushy we couldn't even eat them. I wished we had taken them back for a refund, but we didn't. I went in on Friday afternoon to purchase seafood (mussels, clams & crab meat). The staff told me especially with mussels best to come in tomorrow & grab them they would have fresh ones. What they didn't tell me is that they were going to jack their prices up ridiculously in that timeframe. I understand high prices on a holiday weekend but it's very shady to tell someone not to buy one day & come back the next when you know all prices will be almost doubled. Yes- crab meat was $35 yesterday & $50 today. Take your business elsewhere to a more honest establishment. My whole family is angry & wont shop there again. so much for trying to support a local business instead of larger chains. My husband picked up a dozen large crabs. He came in the house with them and I immediately thought oh they smell fishy! We have gotten smalls from other places that were bigger than the "larges". Once we opened them up and the legs were off it was like a hallow shell. The mustard was already a greenish color, not the normal yellow. It almost looked like a slime. The meat was wet and slimy and smelt fishy. We couldn't even finish them because we were afraid we were going to get sick. Definitely not worth $100 for 12 crabs! Never again. 55.99 for "Jumbo Lump"? More like 1/2 "lump" & 1/2 backfin. NO WAY is this Jumbo. I like fresh as opposed to pasteurized & in years past. always bought Phillips Jumbo. I'll start by saying this place simply rocks. I haven't often ate blue crab and usually stuck to snow crab, or king crab; however after buying from here I won't be turning back from the blue crab. The store is about an hour and a half from my home and despite this I'm more than willing to drive to get my fix plus extras for the week or so when it comes again. For the drive home I ordered some seafood stuff mushrooms and they were amazing. A perfect preamble to the crab feast that awaited my wife and her family in the trunk. I should mention the crabs are steamed to order. So if you don't mind waiting twenty minutes while they pick em, clean em, and steam em, just show up. Or you can always call ahead your order. The seasoning they use is delicious. There is a kick to it that is most enjoyable. The large that we had, were, just that LARGE. Great meat, and we often said just the claws would be enough on these guys. Following the crabs we had the Pretzel they offer with crab meat. Again.... Amazing! On top of the awesome food the staff is extremely friendly. The manager is out about talking to the customers ensuring things are running smooth which is great to see. Five stars because that's all they will allow. I look forward to my next trip north to get more! read more

Completely disappointed their were crab dough balls 16.00 for a lot of bread crumbs and a few chunks of crab meat. I will tell you their side salads were good. My wife stopped by here to surprise me I want feeling gre as t, didn't feel like cooking blah blah I was excited when she said I have crab cakes!! That went away after the first bite. Full of shells, no lump or backfin & full of filler. A five year old could pick crab better. I seemed as if they opened a can of special crabmeat from somewhere & made it worse. They told my wife they were made fresh. She also bought cream of crab & maryland crab soups. HaHa. Being in a hurry I wasn't able to check them until arriving home and found, at best, they were small, most without claws, hardly any meat. TERRIBLE! Poor service and gross food! Do NOT order steamed crabs from this place! 1. Poor service: I called ahead of time to place an order. The phone rang over and over more than usual and once an employee answered, they immediately put me on hold. After waiting on hold for more than 5 minutes I hopped in the car just to drive to the place. I stayed on hold for 13 minutes. When I pulled up, I noticed customers were waiting, and nobody paused to check the phone in between orders. However, I did see that I was hung up on. I went inside to place my order (should have walked away) and recognized the voice that put me on hold. I saw the woman answer the phone, drop it, and put another customer on hold immediately. Two other employees were already handling orders. She could have paused to help customers calling in. When it was my turn to order, I addressed the poor customer service to the woman, and she immediately became defensive and stated that there were just the three employees working up front. This was actually false. There were more than three....and no, I did not count the cooks I saw in back. When I was addressing my concern, she cut me off and asked what I wanted to order. She immediately showed an attitude and whispered to another fellow employee who asked what was wrong...she replied by rolling her eyes, shrugging her shoulders, and shaking her head as if I wasn't standing right there. She NEVER apologized or recognized that the poor service was inconvenient and an issue for the store. This employee cost the store service and customers as she puts them on hold and ignores their orders. 2. The store did NOT smell like a regular seafood market. It wreaked of week old seafood. The crabs I ordered were not fresh and I unfortunately had to throw away two of the six as it was not safe to eat crabmeat that I knew was not fresh, was definitely reheated, and spoiled. The crabmeat of those two smelled like ammonia. Believe me, I DO NOT waste crabmeat, but I was not about to risk food poisoning. The rest of the crabs were obviously not fresh (they were clearly reheated). They lacked taste and seasoning. I know crabs, and I do not blame stores for the insides of crabs, but they should be held accountable for the lack of flavor and freshness. I thought I should give this store a chance and judge them by their food after that bad customer service experience. I was SO wrong. I should have walked out the door! read more

We have been to your establishment before and have been happy but tonight we ordered the 8oz crab cakes and they were awful. They tasted fishy! I am from Baltimore born and bred and have never tasted a crabcake this bad before!! I understand that crab meat is at a premium and I'm happy to pay for a good crabcake. Then last week I went to buy jumbo lump crab meat thinking how could they screw this up. Well, they were able too! Worst customer service ever, I preordered a dozen and a half (18) large crabs. They wrote it on the ticket. I went to pick up my crabs at my designated time and paid. Took my light bag home to discover I had 8 crabs not 18. I called, they offered to make it right or give a store credit. I don't live next door, I live in New Windsor. They said my order would be ready when I got there. Nope, took another 15 minutes and the crabs were smaller. They didn't even offer to throw in a few extra crabs to compensate. This is what you get when there aren't any adults holding these boys accountable. I will take the heat for not checking the bag before leaving the store. I thought they could count. I went there yesterday (6/30/19) to get crabs. Ordered 2 dozen medium crabs .$98. Got home to eat them, out of 2 dozen, maybe 6 were what anyplace else would call medium. Most were small. I found 2 out of the 24 that were somewhat full. Most were light with little meat in them. No way they qualified as number ones. Hardly any seasoning, paper thin shells. I'm 68 years old and these are the worst crabs I can ever remember getting. Must have been presteamed and reheated. Will never go there again read more

This place is hands down my go-to place for seafood! Their prepared crabcakes are huge and taste amazing, as does their crab imperials! The jumbo shrimp are huge and literally taste like lobster meat! Always fresh and great quality. The crab pretzel rocks and the cream of crab & Maryland crab soups are also delish! I give them a high score on the crabs,stuff shrimp, to die for,and their stuffed shrooms..they were excellent! Now the crab soup we had, I give two stars. We called ahead for a dozen of the $2 crabs. They were excellent. We had 1 that was s paper shell but other then that it was great. We also ordered steamed shrimp with onions. Again they were good but they forgot to add the onions so when I mentioned it they steamed some up to add to the shrimp but they were not real soft. I'm so very very sad and disappointed. We ordered crabs for Mother's Day in advance. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I was so looking forward to the day. My children were coming home and we were all looking forward to a great day together. Unfortunately our crabs were terrible. They were mushy, the meat was brown and uneatable. We bought crabs here before- last year and had no issues. However if this is the level they are working from, this will be the last time we order from here. I'm heartbroken.
