I typically buy my seafood at another market nearer my home, but after passing this place once or twice a week I decided to stop in and see if they had any soft crabs. They indeed had a dozen or so of them in the freezer, and they were all marked "JUMBO" at $9.50/each, even though they were all clearly "PRIMES" or "HOTELS" in the basket. I grabbed four, inquired with the clerk there whether they had been mismarked, and she replied rather rudely, "they are measured differently than hard crabs." I knew better (clearly), but I bought them anyway. That is the last $39 I will ever spend there. Consider me a great opportunity lost. I but A LOT of seafood. read more

I would not buy my steamed crabs and shrimp anywhere else!!! They r always consistently cooked and seasoned just right! The crabs have always been fat and good! They have other seafood and food items that are also delish! And there is There is also a cute little gift shop here also. read more

Heavy fat black bottom river crabs today were fantastic. Ordered ahead and ready on time. Seasoning was well balanced and very tasty. We bought them live and they were alive and snappy! Everyone at the shop was pleasant and helpful. We will be back soon! Thank you! read more

I am not the type to out of my way to give a poor experience with a small local business but I make this experience a exception. Today Sunday I called and asked if they had Jumbo Lump crab meat from very important to me FROM MARYLAND? Young man said yes. I already called a establishment prior and he had them too. Because steamin mad was closer I chose to go to steamin mad and paid $2 more. I showed at steamin mad a younger boy was taking the orders and cashing out. He said to a girl in front of me he never eats seafood and the girl even asked why do you work here? He said helping his Grand parents. That's noble but he is equal to warm body taking money how is he supposed to give educated suggestions when he hates seafood!? This is where the old man comes in. He told me jumbo lump and backfin are the same meat just a different name! Went on to say you can freeze crab meat. Just turn it upside down for the juices. I'm 56 live in Maryland and steamed and ate 1000s of crabs. The old man doesn't really know what he is saying. So I get home and open the bag and it's North Carolina crab meat clearly marked on the container and was not in my opinion Jumbo Lump although it was marked lump. In reality it was back fin marked as lump. Maybe North Carolina has different standards as their grades of meat. I called and then spoke to the lady and she got snippy with me and said I can return it! Well lady I KNOW that! And she said it's from Louisiana. No it's from NC. She doesn't even know what they are selling!! I simply wanted to point out it isn't Maryland crab meat to correct them. Since I was given wrong advise by old man. Since I was told it was Maryland meat and clearly marked otherwise. And since the quality of the product isn't at Maryland market standards, and Since The lady got crappy over the phone and she had no clue what they were selling I in fact decided to take it back. I went on my guy and got WHAT I Paid for without all this BS! And two dollars cheaper and proper JUMBO Lump I am suggesting to this local business. Don't get snippy with your customers when YOU are wrong! Know what the hell you are selling to your customers. And maybe show a little rats ass when a customer wastes 45 minutes of his-her time for YOUR screw up. read more

I have been going to this store for 9 years. They have the best fresh salmon I have ever had. (They have other seafood, oysters, crabs, but I'm a salmon addict)I also buy their eggs, coffee from Zeke's, home made soups, chicken salad, potato salad. They also have local dairy products, cakes, and a cute gift shop. I go there at least once/week. Love it, and the owners have always been nice and welcoming! read more

I have always had good experiences with Steamin' Mad. Crabs are always good, and the size I ordered or larger. Got fresh soft crabs there the other day and they were excellent. Everyone I've ever dealt with there has been pleasant and helpful. read more

best steamed crabs around and there shrimp salad is to die for

Probably the worst customer service i've had in a while. Called before noon and asked if they had any deviled eggs left, the woman on the phone wasn't too friendly and told me they didn't have many left, but I didn't think much of it. I reserved a dozen and said I could come in whenever it was convenient for them, and she said I could come now. I went to pick them up, and after seeing how many deviled eggs they actually had left in the case (about 30) I requested to add 6 more to my order. I was shamed for waiting until last minute to call to reserve the eggs (again called before noon and they are open today until 6pm), and was told I was not getting 6 more as she needed to save them for everyone. So she was saving them for people that haven't even called to order them yet? She was extremely rude and has been in the past. I decided to give them a second chance today, but after this experience I won't be back. The older lady that works in there has always been sweet, so this has nothing to do with her. I appreciated her kindness after I was scolded for requesting 6 more eggs by her coworker. read more
