I'm a long-time customer who has watched this shop change under new ownership, and the decline is hard to ignore. The operation now appears to rely on a very small group of experienced technicians to carry an increasingly unstable workforce. Errors are routinely corrected by the same people, productivity is concentrated in a few hands, and the business continues to profit because of that imbalance--not because it has been fixed. What stands out most is the widening gap between how the business is doing and how the people doing the work appear to be treated. While the shop expands, remodels, and presents itself as thriving, there is visible burnout, constant turnover, and little indication that long-term skill, loyalty, or institutional knowledge are being valued in meaningful ways. Skilled trades are not interchangeable. When compensation and working conditions fail to reflect the revenue those skills generate, it eventually shows--in morale, in consistency, and in customer trust. As a customer, I was also uncomfortable with the lack of professionalism in the front office. Attention didn't always seem to be on service or vehicles, which is not the environment most people expect when dropping off their car. This business used to feel like it understood that employees and their families are part of its foundation. That understanding seems to be gone. Until ownership demonstrates that it values the people who actually generate its success--not just the appearance of success--I would advise customers to proceed with caution and ask very direct questions about who is responsible for the work on their vehicle. Absolutely terrible service. I picked up my car last December after front end damage that exceeded $11,000.00. I have had to place the front headlight bezel because they installed the new one improperly and the inside of the bezel accumulated moisture, the hood and fenders where they painted is flaking and they said they did a front-end alignment. With very little milage put on the car I had to replace the front tires due to improper ware, there is not a chance that they aligned the front end, they only charged for it. Zero customer service. When I called to tell them I noticed the estimate didn't have a washer fluid container on it and I new the repair would need that, so I called because I was aware of the supply issues. They said they couldn't order it ahead because of insurance. When I said, if insurance doesn't pay it I will. Can you just order it -I was transferred to different person. Same thing. When I said " I called thinking I was being helpful to have the part there" -They said he was 90% sure he wouldn't have all the parts anyway. I swore-said "oh for fucks sake" -then I said "sorry, I am just frustrated because I was trying to be helpful". He hung up and then called back and told me they wouldn't repair my car and "good luck" finding someone who would. My appointment was for Dec 5th. I made it in August. They think they have all the power and this is how they wield it. read more

In October of 2022, my truck was damaged in a vehicle break in, BR was able to work with my schedule and get me in on short notice. The vehicle lives in Missoula and I use it 4-5 times a year when I fly into town. the trip after the repair I started having issues with the door locking it self when the handle was pulled, kinda like a Laurel and Hardy skit, given the short and infrequent nature of my visits I finally was able to get the vehicle back in to have it looked at. Ben and the guys in the shop were able to determine that damage to the latch mechanism was missed on the original repair. they assisted with reopening the insurance claim ordered the part, and fit me in for a 1 hour repair in under 72 hours. flat out the best service I have ever had at a repair shop! If you plan on getting your audio done by Blue Ribbon Auto I suggest you check out Aspen Sound instead. I had the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced. After selling me faulty equipment I went back and scheduled a time for them to look at it. After telling me "there is no way your deck isnt working" I told them I just wanted to return it then, which they completely refused and said they would look at it and try to fix the problem. I went in today 7/23/20 to see if they could figure the issue out. After looking at it, they handed my keys over, gave me a partial refund and left me with no speakers, no deck and no adapter to hook up another deck. I went straight to Aspen after they pulled everything out and told them what had happened and Jake bent over backwards to try and help me figure it out. He gave me a run down on how to at least get temporary music until they are able to bring it in and install all the new gear and told gave me way more options than blue ribbon offered. I had my windows tinted, and had a Clear Bra put on the front of my car. I'm completely unhappy with both. The reveal between the edge of the glass and the tint is not even along the whole edge, nor is it very close to the edge. I specifically asked them to install the tint close to the edge of the glass. (Didn't follow directions) The tint is not cut smooth either. It looks like it was ripped instead of cut with a space gauged razor blade. If I wanted it to look like this, I could have done it this good myself. I chose to have it professionally done to avoid this quality of a job. It's not professional work. This is my 5th new car getting tint installed. (1st time at Blue Ribbon) It's the worst job I have ever had, the others were perfect. They told me a CNC machine would cut all the pieces out. (NEED A NEW PROGRAM, OR CNC MACHINE) Trust me don't go to BLUE RIBBON AUTO BODY in Missoula, MT. If you care how your money is spent, and what your vehicle looks like, save your money over going to this place. The clear bra had all kinds of blemishes in the Clear bra. All from bad cuts and a poor install skills. Glue marks is what they called them. They said they might evaporate, but not all of them. They acted proud of turning out this caliber of work. A paint chip would look about the same. A paint chip is free too. Oh well, all I can do is... go to another place from now on, and write a review to help save all of you from making the mistake I did. Oh yeah, forgot to mention they were the most expensive out of everyone. I got suckered by the clean shop. I was hoping since the shop was clean, and decent, the work would be good. NOPE! I'm sorry I don't have a recommendation for another place that is better. I stopped in at New Wave in Missoula, Mt, and they were a couple of grumps that didn't appreciate any potential customers. They took the car right away and had it fixed while I waited. Much better than the local mechanic that nearly broke the door for the same issue. They've worked on several vehicles for me. Biggest repair was after a suicide deer took out the front of my suburban. I decided to change things up from the factory look and they helped me to customize and upgrade the whole front end of the vehicle and lighting--and it didn't cost a penny more than OEM parts. My appointment was at 3:30, but I arrived at 3:00 and expected to wait, to my surprise they took my car in right away and what I thought was wrong with it (and they had already ordered the part) was not what was wrong. BEWARE! DO NOT LET THEM SUCKER YOU INTO ANY "SPECIAL ORDERS" I'm sure there are plenty of satisfied Blue Ribbon Auto customers out there, but I'm definitely NOT one of them, and its important to point out that I am NOT a difficult guy to please. However, I am "old school", and unfortunately, In my experience, these guys proved to be nothing but greedy new-age predators and profiteers. I needed a set of rust-proof lug nuts for some custom wheels and the salesman at Blue Ribbon Auto convinced me to purchase a "100% stainless steel set" made by Gorilla, but he didn't have them in stock, nor did he have a photo or a detailed product description. So foolishly, I let him coerce me into pre-paying for a "special order" priced at roughly $100 for just 20 lug nuts (that's $5/lug), and a whopping $12 for Express (i.e., FedEx) shipping from Portland, Oregon. Incredibly, ten (10) days then elapsed without delivery of the lug nuts (I probably could have shipped them by 'pack mule' cheaper and faster!), and then, when they finally did arrive, the lug nuts were NOT as advertised (or claimed). Specifically, they were NOT stainless steel. They were standard (rustable) steel with a stainless steel cap that reportedly twisted and deformed on the acorn lug as soon as a lug wrench was applied to them (multiple reports appeared on-line). But did the fine folks at Blue Ribbon Auto take responsibility for the delayed FedEx shipping or the false advertising? Nope! I strongly objected to the false advertising and inferior nature of the product with Blue Ribbon management, as well as the delayed shipment, but Blue Ribbon Auto would NOT refund the purchase price nor the FedEx ("Express") shipping fee. Instead, they retained my payment of the $12 FedEx shipping fee and a 25% ($25) re-stocking fee, even though I (the customer) had done nothing wrong whatsoever. Nope, you can KEEP Blue Ribbon Auto and everyone who works there! I wouldn't shop there again and I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone unless they were an armed robber or an arsonist! My recent experience with Blue Ribbon was terrible. the repair took longer than estimated, even with no parts needed. A scratch needed to be repaired. It took 10 days instead of 5. The manager was rude when I contacted him about the delay and refused to provide me with consumer information regarding the repair work. I will never use this company again. read more

Hard to believe maybe, but after a bear chewed up the right quarter panel and front bumper, I called our insurance. USAA (insurance carrier) sent us to Blue Ribbon Auto Body. Having raised several kids through the early driving years, I have experience with auto body shops.But, I have never had such a GOOD experience. Parts ordered, repair scheduled, completed as promised, car cleaned and vacuumed! This is my go-to place now. Took my truck in for what should have been an easy repair and it was kept overnight even though my truck was scheduled to be repaired. I received no telephone call warning me that my truck would be held overnight, so I am without a vehicle even though I need it for work tomorrow. I have made the same repair on a vehicle in 2-3 hours, so keeping it overnight is unacceptable. Two days for a bumper and a grill? Really? If I would have known it would take them over a day to fix a bumper and a grill, I would not have went there. Not calling me was just icing on the cake. My experience with Blue Ribbon started off great. The staff when I arrived was professional, the facilities were clean and the claims office is professional. After doing the initial walk around and notifying the damage that happened after a deer ran into the side of my car. I was given the quote and told it would be about two weeks before my car could get into the shop. I was fine with waiting after seeing all of their awards that were up on the wall, knowing that everything was going to be top quality. Blue Ribbon even advertises that they take "Pride" in their work. I dropped the car off on the scheduled day and was told that it would take about a week. They said they would call on Wednesdays and Fridays, which they did. However after a week of being in the shop, they called and said it would take into the next week. Then I called on Monday afternoon to get an estimated time. After speaking with Ben, he told me that they just had to adjust the passenger side window and it should be completed on Tuesday. Tuesday came around and I waited for a phone call, none. I call Wednesday morning and was told that it should be completed later that evening. After a phone call around 4:30 pm on Wednesday I was told that the car would not be ready, but would be finished that night and that I could pick my vehicle up on Thursday morning around 8 am. Thinking this was the case I dropped the rental car off and had enterprise drop me off at Blue Ribbon around 9 am. Upon arrival the secretary, Jessica, looked for my file, but it was not in the pick-up file. After calling Ben to the front desk, I found out that the car was not ready and that it would be about 45 minutes. After leaving Blue Ribbon and filling up the car with fuel, I noticed some scratches on the hood and some overspray on the hood. There is also some overspray on the trunk lift-gate. There was also some food that I don't eat found on the passenger floorboard and the driver door. Other than those issues the rest of the work looked great. I took the car back and pointed out the issues and the person who runs the place was not very great at customer service. After showing him the work he said that he would fix the issues, but said they were not made by the shop. After a few words he told me that he calls "Bull S..." on the mistakes. Later he told me that if I had any further issues that I could take the car "down the road" to get the issues fixed. I do not recommend taking a vehicle to Blue Ribbon, this is based off of the un-professional customer service, lack of organization and communication and overall quality and lack of "pride" in their work. read more
