Sam and crew were positive smiling car enthusiasts, who LOVED old cars, and enjoyed being mechanics and keeping other people's vehicles maintained and on the roads. I told them that my tranny did not go into reverse, it still drove, but I did not want to get left somewhere because, the rest of it failed. I asked for a quote, and I got a fair bid, plus labor and adding fluids, and if anything else popped up, we would stay in touch. I told them I had to get a loan first to get the work done, so I was parking it for the winter, but in spring, it should be ready to work on. I got a loan, I drove it in as soon as I could when winter was ending, and spring was on the horizon. I asked if the price was still the same to start, and it was so I parked it, and said there was no hurry, if someone else really needed work done first. Well about a week later, they called and left me a message that it was ready! I couldn't beleive it was already done. I had paid for the new tranny ahead, plus the money to ship it to their shop. When I got to the shop, I was met with smiling, guys, that seemed amused that I was so excited to get it back so soon. I love this truck, it got 13 miles around town, and 18 mpg on the highway. After I had the work done and the tranny replaced, I have drove it a lot, because I do Care Giving in people's homes, on the two-lane highways, and on the 4 lanes. I still get 13 mpg around the town, but with the 4 lane and freeways, the last 2 gas up times, my mpg has gone from 18, to 19, to 20. And that counts with all the traveling I do between Missoula and Hamilton, and Stevensville daily. The coolest thing about this truck is it is slightly bigger than the older Nissan Frontier, a lot of insurance agencies at first could not find it registered under the frontier, but it was. It rides like you are in a Town Car. I swear, if I blind folded you, and someone loaded you in, you would never know you were riding in a truck. Friends told me to sell it for parts. Nope, I said, it is a good truck and it has a lot of miles in it. I am so glad that Sam and his other mechanics love what they do, because, getting this truck running again, meant everything to me. If you have mechanical problems, stop by and talk to Wrench Works, because the mechanics there really do love their trade, and from my perspective, their prices are fair, they are always happy to see you, and they are in the jobs they are suppose to be in. Later I will try to put in a photo of my truck, but I am not techy so it will have to wait, but remember, keep your oldy but goodies running. Took my car their had them order and install a brand new motor. Broke my carburetor on reinstall (had a bad vaccum leak he said he doesn't know were from) and broke a special horse that could have easily ben unbolted, left wires on the alternator unhooked, and wire that is exposed has take on it that says 12v and flopping around, hole in the new coolant pipe that looked like from a pair of vise grips (coolant was leaking when I brought it home) had to bring car back for a bad thumping noise he said he fixed but it came back shortly after had to have another mechanic look at it and come to find out he put worn out bolts back on the intake that needed new bolts, timing was off, and he reinstalled burnt power steering lines that did not get burnt on new motor they were wired away from it. If I'm paying for all the parts to bring it back the the era the car was from I'd expect not using old parts when they clearly needed addressed and all I got out of the deal was a call your cars ready and when you get their oh by the way my bad and I should have charged you more it to me alot of man hours to work on this more than I charged you I went by the book time to charge you..... Don't take on a job if you don't know what you are doing just word from the wise read more
