Having experienced a homeowner's worst nightmare by one contractor, I contacted Jim DeCuzzi to…read morerectify things based solely upon meeting him just one month earlier when he actually recommended against undertaking several minor/moderate sized projects in our home - believing the timing wasn't right (i.e., He was more interested in us rather than just collecting a paycheck - a rare trait in his field). Based on this experience I was impressed with both his technical competence to tackle our current large scale "rehab" project (he's a walking "construction/building encyclopedia"), and even more importantly, the sense of INTEGRITY we were looking for in a contractor (never realizing I'd be calling him one month later). Having just completed 2 1/2 months of renovations D&K proved to be everything a service company should be - professional, efficient, reasonable and most importantly - trustworthy ... a company that respects its customers and places their interests first. Equally impressive was Jim's partner Steve Kessler ... every bit as technically competent and with the same sense of CHARACTER to match. As the onsite supervisor, we couldn't have hoped for a more forward thinking or forward leaning individual to address the countless day-to-day decisions and activities inherent in coordinating all the efforts associated with restoring our home (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, etc...) As with any project this scale, it was not without its share of unanticipated problems. Jim and Steve were quick to diagnosis the issues, recommend a solution and employee the necessary resources to rectify the situation (i.e., no wasted time "evaluating" the situation while racking up unnecessary labor charges). Both were especially empathetic to our situation keeping us current on all developments which was a huge relief in alleviating the stress of trying to manage all the unknowns from a distance (we live in Boston). In sum, Jim and Steve are a one-of-a-kind TEAM. They are exceptionally polite, personable, competent and knowledgeable - with the energy, enthusiasm and "esprit de corps" to tackle anything thrown at them. As a Marine I especially appreciated their professionalism, sense of urgency and attention to detail. It is also obvious they approach their work not so much as a job... but as a profession... a refreshing change from the norm, which makes a huge difference in the end result/product. I only wish we could find more contractors with the same work ethic and sense of service to their clients. Only then would anyone give me the time of day. I am tired of shady people and they should look a little closer at their business ethics.

I hired Metro to install some windows and fix 2 decks. At the time I thought they did an adequate…read morejob. I then hired them to rebuild a simple small deck. They subcontracted it ( which I think they do on most jobs) to 2 workers who only came on Sunday and only communication with the GC was via pictures and a translation app. They were incredibly inconsiderate and left trash everywhere. To the best of my knowledge the GC never came until the project was falling apart. The deck was missing joist brackets ( per code) , the cuts were all way off, wood was splintering in half making the stability very dangerous. And more to the point, my contract said build the deck the same as the old. They said they couldn't . Of course not, when you buy stringers for 6 steps and there were only 3 steps on the old deck. Ben went ballistic and swore at me when I tried to point these things out.This put the steps at the end of the platform. I have since hired someone else and they had no problem solving the problem by using stringers for 3 stairs. With a new GC, they noticed the previous 2 decks they built had the wrong nails and they did not pre-drill the holes. Hence wherever they secured the boards have severely buckled. My new rebuilt deck has no buckling, as every deck I have seen with trex. Some boards were coming loose because they did not hit all holes. I have pictures to back up everything in this review. In short, the workers were not skilled enough to do the job unsupervised and they were not supervised. A former worker told me they were paid very little. This says to me they got cheap unskilled people to do the work. My best advise is go else where

We contracted CNTC based on some very positive feedback from friends to remodel the downstairs…read morebathroom and add a walk-in closet (not pictured) to our 1970s-construction home. This was more than a total gut job, with scope including: new supply plumbing, breakers, wiring, floors, shower, window, and ceilings. Needless to say, we needed a GC who could bring a breadth of experience. I'm not going to add the before pictures, but the old bathroom was in complete disrepair, poorly laid out, and badly dated--the results, we feel, are beautiful and functional. Sean and I selected the tiles and fixtures--Carlos was very flexible with building our vision for the space. CNTC was creative working around constraints such as proximity to the foundation, immobile ducting, and drain lines for the upstairs bathroom. He rolled with the punches when new issues were discovered to make sure the work got done right. The crew was polite, professional, detail-oriented, and trustworthy. 10/10, will use again.
