We found this location thanks to a couple youtubers vlogging about their experience. Parking is verrrry limited, but they get you in an out pretty quickly. A bit intimidating when you first walk in; generally someone will approach you to ask what you are looking for. We can to rent skis and snowboarding gear for our first go at the sport. You fill out a questionnaire then get escorted to find a helmet then the boot station. I initially went with skis, unfortunately it seemed like no one there was knowledgeable in skiing to give me pointers or to teach me how to get in n out of the skis. A key factor in my foreseeable future. My Fiancé went with snowboarding and said they went into great detail with him about riding and making sure he was comfortable getting in and out his board. One great perk they offer is unlimited swap outs. So I was able to change to snowboarding when skiing wasn't working out as easily as I hoped. They rent everything except goggles so keep that in mind or buy some from amazon. Otherwise, you'll be sending like $40+ on a one time use Note: Ski Boots are horrrribly uncomfortable. read more

This is my GO TO rental spot. The parking is not large so if we are withing walking distance we just walk or else have someone drop off and circle back. The rentals are great; prices are the fairest I have found and the allow online booking so it saves time. They are also quick if something does not work out and you need to swap... boots or a snowboard length, etc. The best part is that the info is stored in the system so when we return the following trip it makes online reservations even easier!!! read more

If I could leave a 0 star review I would. 1 star is very generous in my opinion. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at a ski shop. I have been skiing for 25 years and couldn't believe how unhelpful, relatively rude, inexperienced and disengaged the staff was. They run you through the rental process as quickly as possible and do not care (or seem to know) if your equipment actually fits properly. This unfortunately landed one of the four in our group in the ER after a fall because her boots were at least a size too big. Another one of our folks had to swap boots out that were too big, and our fourth had to swap polls because they were about 2 sizes too short. There is a reason they are one of the cheapest in town. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Spend the extra money at another shop that knows what they are doing or spend the extra money on medical bills when your improper equipment lands you in the med clinic. I'm not one to usually write bad reviews, but I don't want to see anyone else hurt because of this shop's incompetence. read more

My second time to blue river sports to rent ski gear while in Breck for a ski week. I can't say enough good things. I try to always go with a "smaller" outfit, you know, support local. And although they are indeed an independent organization, they have all the gear, and knowable staff of a large corporate outfit. I came in on Superbowl Sunday... like an hour before the game. Needless to say it was bonkers in there. With people trying to return and/or rent equipment before the big game. The staff handled it with ease. I never once felt rushed, or that they were overwhelmed. I got top notch service as if I was the only person in the store. I like to rent demo skis, so I can try out the latest and greatest. And upon suggestion of one of the cutest ski rental technicians I've ever met, I got the K2 All Luv It in a 163 which is a teeny tiny bit longer than I usually go (I'm 5'2"). Although I like to ski rossi, that young man was so charming I melted into the K2s with no protest. He was sooooo right. They were f***ing perfect. I think they actually made me a better skier. And now I know I can go up to a 163. Needless to say, wherever you're staying in Breck, it's worth it to get to blue river for your rental equipment. Easy online rental. Easy pick up and drop off. We picked up 2 sets of skis/boots on Thursday night to go skiing Friday. After we picked up the skis we went down the street to get dinner... for some reason, in peak season Breck doesn't believe in salting the sidewalks. I'm not talking 1/10th inch of ice... I'm talking pads of 2" ice all over the side walls.... Sooo yeah I fell flat on my but and twisted the heck out of my ankle.... Ski trip ruined. Next morning took our skis back knowing no chance they'd actually refund us.. and guess what they did... great people, honest and I will be back everytime I come to Breck! I would absolutely recommend this shop for anyone in need of nice rental gear at a good price. I walked in at 8:00 AM right when they opened and I walked out less than 10 minutes later, snowboard in hand. Return process was even speedier. Pretty much the whole street is lined with gear rental places, so you have your pick, but this looked like a yelp fave. It was busy, with a bit of a line, but once you get started it moves quickly. They have a boot platform where you stand with the staff at foot-level so they don't have to bend to reach your feet, which is a bit awkward, but more efficient I think bthen you move on to get your skis. Less than ten minutes to actually rent. Decent equipment. Very friendly staff, and they seemed competent. read more

We rented skis and a snowboard for a week from Blue River and couldn't be happier. I did a lot of web research and found they had the best prices around--be sure to reserve on their website by 2 pm the day before pickup for a 10% discount. Their prices are cheaper in general but as a bonus every fifth day is free (so if you rent for 6 days you pay for 5). We picked up our gear the afternoon before we started skiing. There were lots of staff available to help and service was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. It had less of an assembly line feel than some of the chains I've rented from. I'm no expert on ski equipment but everything looked relatively new and well maintained. They even had helmets available for rent for $4/day and our Giro looked brand new. Blue River is located just across the street from the Village which is at the base of Peak 9, so you can easily stop by if you have any issues with your skis or want to swap anything out. The only downside to their location is that parking is limited, not unusual in Breck. There are several spaces in front of the store but there is ample parking in the nearby town lot a couple of minutes walk away which is free after 3 pm. I would definitely rent from Blue River again the next time I ski Breckenridge. read more

Having not skied in many years the staff was extremely friendly and helpful in getting me set up and providing directions on where to ski. Rental was very inexpensive for half day. Lift ticket was another story, $123.00 after 12. The lift ticket is not affiliated with the rental location. Overall my experience was perfect. Great place to rent gear. We searched and asked everyone where we could get snow gear and found this gem while searching online. I read some reviews and they were right. I reserved my gear and equipment 2 days prior and they had space which was great. The staff is amazing they were so patient with us on trying the gear to make sure it fits. They have jackets pants helmets it was perfect since we live in Fl so there was no need for us to buy equipment since it will never be that cold. After we picked our clothes they walked us to the other side to get fitted for our snow boards. Everything probably took 30-45 minutes only because we have to switch clothes to fit right. 100 percent recommended this location just for the customer service alone. read more

As a very novice and inexperienced skier, the prospect of spending a few hundred dollars on a ski jacket and pants seemed like a pretty unnecessary expense to me. My much more experienced and knowledgeable boyfriend assured me that we'd be able to find a place in Breckenridge to rent all the proper ski attire and equipment. Luckily for us, the owners of the house we were renting supplied us with a handy little guidebook for all things Breckenridge, including listings for various rental shops in the area. We chose Blue River Sports because they rented jackets and bibs and their prices seemed reasonable. They are conveniently located across the street from Main Street Station, which leads to easy access to the base of Peak 9. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staffers who asked us what our level of skiing was (beginner, intermediate, advanced). We were then offered an option in quality of equipment: 2-3 year old skis & boots versus newer ones for a negligible premium. We, of course, went for the new stuff. My bf went off to get his boots fitted while one staffer brought me over to the jackets and bibs. He took a quick glance at me, then pulled a pair of bibs off a hanger and asked me to try them on. They fit perfectly - not overly long for my short legs or too snug around the waist. This was a far cry from all the ill-fitting ski pants I had tried on at Princeton Ski Shop in NYC. He then found me the right sized jacket and I was onto Phase 2: Boots & Skis. The boot fitting went just as smoothly. Another staffer measured one foot and found a snug pair of boots to adjust to my foot. (Apparently at Breckenridge Sports, they don't even bother to measure your foot.) I got my boots and my poles and took them to the next counter, where they fit the skis to the boots. It had been a good 7 years since the last time I skied, but I didn't think the last rental shop was nearly as thorough or helpful. We decided to rent the equipment for five days since the 5th day was free anyway. With my equipment and attire together, my rental came out to $32 a day ($5 each for the jacket and bibs, $22 for the beginner ski package), while my bf's intermediate package came out to $26 a day. They also informed us that they don't charge late fees - if you decide to keep your equipment longer, they just charge you for the additional time (you don't even have to call to extend the rental). Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. We even recommended Blue River to our other housemates, who had rented from Breckenridge Sports their first day and paid nearly twice as much for half the service and quality. We went skiing the next day and it turned out that my boots were too tight, so we went back to get new ones fitted. The process was as friendly and helpful as before, and I ended up renting a helmet too. Again, they found one that fit me perfectly and I felt pretty good in knowing that extra safety measures only cost me an extra $4 a day. Blue River Sports also has a good selection of gloves and mittens in every size (GoreTek junior's large, thanks), plus hats and other ski accoutrements. I'm sure that pretty much every other rental shop in Breckenridge offers the same equipment, but I don't know if they offer the same amount of friendly and helpful customer service. I may never find out either, since I'm sure the next time I'm in Breckenridge, I'm heading straight to Blue River Sports for all my rental needs. read more

I have been renting from these guys for several years now and I keep coming back every time I am in Breckenridge to ski. They seriously have the friendliest staff who are pretty funny and down to earth as well as equipment that is in good condition. They are really organized and know what they are doing. As a returning customer, they do a good job keeping my information on file. I recommend reserving in advance online not only because you get a discount, but they could run out of your specific size during busy season. Their prices are amazing and I have never waited more than a couple minutes to get boot sizing. Not only do they have great customer service and pricing, but their location is prime. Right across the street from the short walk to the lift on peak 9, it doesn't get much closer. My friend also just bought some used skis here at a decent price. She is very happy with them! I and my family rented ski equipment from Blue River and it was a SUPERB EXPERIENCE. Yes the price might be a little more, but the location next to the ski area made adjustments and swapping out uncomfortable ski boots for my self and my wife easy..... They also had inserts that created a custom fit for my foot and I was able to ski without my foot floating in the boots while skiing...
