Getting gas here is a chore now. OK, so now you can pump your own gas in Oregon. I don't have a problem with that. But I DO have a problem with pumps that can take cards, but don't, with no attendants, forcing you to walk quite a ways across a lot into another building out of view of your car and wait in line. When you go to insert your card you're met with a little screen that says "Machine not currently taking cards. Please pay inside" or something like that. Even though the machine has a card reader, and I've used it before in the past under previous ownership. So OK, cool no problem. My legs aren't broken. I'll just walk inside. Now I have to wait in line at least 10 minutes behind people humming and hawing at what they want out of the deli case. Or to stare blankly at the menu as if they've never seen or heard of chicken on a stick before. I do finally get up there. I hand the kid my card. "How's it going? I'd like some gas. Fill on pump three please" He asks me how much? I say "a fill, I want to fill it up please" Then he asked me, well do you know like what dollar amount that's gonna be?. Really man? No, that's kind of what you're supposed to tell me after the car has been filled up. So they don't have the technology to put an authorization on my card, and then charge me what the total is when I'm done pumping the gas? Am I the only person that ever comes in and asks them to fill it up? Really? I say "Just give me $10" Only $10? "Yes please, thanks." (Just give me enough to get up the road to someplace that knows how gas stations are supposed to work.) read more

We made several stops at Blue Sky Market to get all our essentials; firewood, ice, hoodie (because I forgot mine), snacks, grilling tools, etc. The cashier was friendly and personable, I wish you the best of luck on your writing journey! Great camping supply and grocery store. Everyone was nice and the chicken on a stick was super good! They have pretty much everything you need and more. I will say the prices are a bit high, but that's to be expected for the location. They had a camping section, fishing section, and lots of grocery, beers, and drinks! There was a bit of time a while back when the ownership was changing that the store was pretty bare and sad. Now things have turned back around for the better! They have the best hot deli around. The chicken sticks and jojos are a must! The store is well stocked with snacks and drinks. They have a great beer section too! We always make a stop at Blue Sky when we are in the area. read more

The staff at this store was rude and condensending. When I politely ask for Ranch dressing for my chicken on a stick the male cashier tossed it across the counter as if I was bothering him for asking. When asking the female cashier about the food she snapped at me. There was no reason to behave like they did. The store itself is awesome. When the store was owned by Harbicks, we were always up there. That was our favorite stop whenever traveling to sisters or Bend. Now we stopped up there a week ago, the machine was out of ice, the clerk could have cared less. He just told me "IDK you'll have to wait for it to make some more". My husband loves the chix on a stick but they are now 4.99 each! I understand inflation but the give a shit less attitude plus the high cost, I don't think we will stop again. read more

Blue River's hottest psuedo-Wal*mart is "Blue Sky Market with Chevron". Located on the side of McKenzie Highway, this convenience store on steroids has it all: Pepsi fountain drinks, car batteries, fried deli foods, vapes, grapes, beer, plumbing supplies, nuts, bolts, socks with marijuana leaves, cigarettes, chew, DVD rentals, gas, diesel, bait & tackle, oh and is that Macauley Culkin? No, it's just a local kid, trying to get cell service. Very nice cashier. They were BUSY and she got the line whittled down. I paid $8.99 plus deposit for a 6 pack of 16 ounce Coors Light cans. We have been here countless times on our way to fun adventures to take a potty break and get the delicious chicken on a stick and jojo! We love getting the combo meal of chicken, 2 jojos, and a drink for about $4.50 (I think that's the price, could actually be even cheaper). You have to go earlier in the day because when they run out of the fried food at the end of the day, they don't replenish it. Imagine my disappointment when we come through at 5pm craving some fried chicken and they're all sold out! Anyways, this convenience store has literally anything you need in a pinch. Tons of food brands, fishing gear, tools, tourist adventure pamphlets, and a toilet! They have one indoor toilet that's always busy with a line, and a port a potty. Staff is usually friendly and helpful. However, we have had several interactions with one older female employee who is quite rough around the edges, very unfriendly, and has horrible customer services skills overall. The last time we came through, they were making more fried chicken at around 1pm and we checked out asking to get the combo meal and we would wait on the chicken portion until it was done being made. The female employee said "THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS. you have to pay separate". Very rude and abrupt, making no effort to explain their methods. Somehow, they aren't able to process purchasing the combo meal and then just waiting for the food to be ready (you know, like how it works at normal food places) You can only pay for what's available RIGHT NOW even if they're in the process of making it... And then she proceeded to yell at my husband "WELL WHAT SIZE????" when my husband kindly asked to purchase a fountain drink. We were literally so shocked at how completely rude she was that we didn't even know how to respond. We later heard one of her employees suggest she take a break. At one time, this may have been a gem of a country market. Not any more. Shelves are empty; what is there is covered in dust and grime. Employees are unclean from black fingernails to greasy hair :( Coffee is adequate, but there is never enough-- new pots aren't brewed in a timely manner. Worst of all is that the place is aboslutelyfilthy!! Not just messy, but FILTHY--and no one seems to be trying to make it clean. And the prices!! Harbrick's certainly evokes the latter. Located midway through The Pass between Bend and Eugene, this store sells everything from assorted hardware, fishing gear, Hallmark-esque ceramic this-and- that, standard gas station snacks as well as hot food and frozen items. The packaged food, although sold at the usual pit-stop markup, is never outdated (avoid the other country stores on the 126 for precisely this reason--Breton crackers that expired in 2008--methinks not), and the variety offered appears staggering after a week of eating twigs on mountain trails. As mentioned in other reviews, the chicken on a stick is a thing of fryolated legend and glory and should not be missed. Amidst the ruinous array of high fructose and MSG, fresh fruit and vegetables languish in a small case, a welcome addition for the preservative-weary. In addition, one may find an odd assortment of used books and a fantastic array of multicolored sunglasses next to the register. As a last but perhaps noteworthy inclusion, the bathroom does not resemble that in Trainspotting, and is in fact quite clean and interestingly decorated (Coca Barn, 'nuff said). If you need something, they probably have it. This a family run big general store right off 126. Very friendly place. They have a wide variety of items, from fishing poles to a pretty good wine selection. Fresh produce to plumbing supplies. Even a gift shop area. Why they didn't have any aloe for my sunburn, I don't know. The atm machine was out, but they accept all kinds of cards and debit too. Also a gas station! They have hot foods to, but I never tried it. However, I saw more than one person buying the food, so can't be too bad, right? This is place is great to have around. If you are staying on the Mc Kenzie River to fish or raft, you will probably stop by this place for one reason or another, and it's a nice stop. read more

I do a lot of hiking in Central Oregon and family lives out toward here, so I stop by here often. Chicken on a stick as became my goto food before and sometimes after a good hike. I love their BBQ sauce, but every time I'm torn between the ranch and BBQ sauce, they don't mind giving you both. They've got a great selection of other fried foods, such as corn on the cob and pickles! The service is always as good as the food. If you're driving by it is definitely worth the stop. read more

We love old places, like quaint old country stores. Harbick's isn't that. But it is the best place to stop between Eugene and Sisters, for pretty much everything, incidentals to plumbing to movies to... If you need it, they probably have it. I live here, locally. Beware of the deli, they cook food and leave it out until it sells, regardless of the laws. I recently bought a hamburger, and it was more than 6 hours old. Also be careful of the 'fresh baked pastries' - cupcakes or cookies - these aren't cooked in the store kitchen, which doesn't have the facilities, they are cooked in the owners kitchen, which isn't certified, inspected, or in any way approved as sanitary. read more

I live in the area and although the chicken on a stick is as good as everyone says, I have to write and mention one more thing. I think it will be noted as a strange thing to post, but I have never had a steak that is so juicy and tender. You can find it in the frozen section, that's right frozen. Take it to your camp spot or home to the cabin, wherever you may be going and defrost in some water. Leave it in the bag to do this. Then fry it with just a tad of butter and a dash of salt and pepper. I promise you, no matter where you have eaten this steak is one you do not want to pass up.
