I've been stopping here now and then during the Summer months forever. As a motorcycle Bikers I greatly value and depend on this gas station being open and having fuel and electricity to pump it. It's a way long distance to the next nearest fuel if you don't have a Pacific Pride card or the ability to use commercial fuel services. Not such a huge deal anymore with the big Harleys having 5+ gallon fuel tanks and better mileage motors. But 30+ years ago, 100 or so miles was about the range of the average chopper which, "conveniently" was the distance from the Shell station in Estacada to Detroit. All gone now :( The wildfire that swept through Mill City, Gates and Detroit took out many homes and businesses, this store among them. I hope they are able to rebuild but even if they do, it will never be the same. read more

Driving to Sunriver and I REALLY had to pee. I'm assuming this happens all the time, which is why the establishment has signs posted everywhere about how you better not be planning on peeing without purchasing something. Sure, I get it, you don't want people taking advantage of your resources. Here's the thing though...you can attract more flies with honey than with vinegar. In other words, I'm more likely to stop and decide it's okay to pee here and possible buy something if you're friendly about the whole ordeal. I almost decided not to stop based on the Yelp reviews. I was worried about the customer service and precautious about using the restroom even though I was planning on buying water. It just seemed so unfriendly and uninviting because of the signs about the restroom. Plus, most things were overpriced. Especially the small selection of card games they offered. In the end, the people weren't mean. They were actually fine and there's a nice view out back. Either way, I left still put-off about the atmosphere of the place. read more

We've been in line with 10 other people waiting for gas for over HALF AN HOUR. (While we were also waiting for construction work for half an hour before on the pass). The pump is so slow is goes about a gallon a minute, no joke. Like come on guys, you're in the middle of two major parts of the state with traffic going both ways all weekend..... update your gas pumps and services. The gal who was helping us thanked us for our patience and was running her butt off, give her 5 stars. Owner, give her some help or something when it's busy. She was slammed. Sigh. read more

This place makes lemon bars to die for! Tart, tangy, chewy on the edges, soft in the middle, dusted with a smidgen of powdered sugar, floating on just the right thickness of fresh, flakey crust to complement and deliver the goods. Stored in a refrigerated case, chilled to perfection. Say what you will about the service, prices, signs on the bathroom door. It's background noise. They have some other tasty desserts too but nothing shines like the lemon. I stop here and stock up on lemon bars every chance I get. After reading some of these reviews I laughed. I live in Los Angeles and our smaller businesses don't let you use the restroom without buying something. So you have to buy a pack of gum or a water, you probably the same person who buys a coffee everyday. This is a small town and a small business. What.. You had to wait in line?? Do you shop at Costco because that's a line. Small businesses are a dying breed and it's hard to make it run like a big business when it's not. I found the food to be healthy and delicious and yes the prices might be a little higher on some items but when your not in a big city the resources are limited, so I didn't mind. The owner was busy but polite. This is a great place to stop off and get fresh baked goods as well. read more

Ugh, rudest place I've experienced in Oregon. There are signs all over the place reminding you this is a small business and if you don't buy something you can't use the bathroom, etc. The sales clerk was yelling at the two young men working the kitchen where you can purchase food and coffee then was completely rude to me and sneered at me after I asked for a bag for my $20 worth of purchases which would have been near impossible to carry without one. My husband and I will definitely not ever be back and will stop either before or after this place. Avoid this place if you can, the vibe is just terrible. read more

I work at Rivers Run. Some people complain about our attitude. Well, I have a question, what was your attitude like? I think that my co-workers and I try to do our best for you. But we have been treated disrespectfully. During certain times, we are busy. Yes, we are the only gas station in town, and at times it gets pretty hectic. I have taken orders in the deli, for milkshakes. 6 to 7 at a time, of course, every one is a different flavor, lol. Well, I finish one gentleman's shake and was starting the next one, the gentleman who had already gotten, his shake, came back to inform me that the restroom was out of toilet paper. I said I would get to it when I had finish with the other shakes. This gentleman glared and seemed to be unhappy with my answer. So, I stopped doing the shake, went and replaced the toilet paper. I think that was quite rude behavior, he had his shake and thought that I should drop what I was doing and be his personal janitor. Hey sir, what about the other people who were waiting patiently for their shakes? Did you think about them? I believe that my co-workers and I do our best to provide the best service, whether it be pumping your gas or making you a treat. It would be nice to feel appreciated, how about a praise or perhaps even a monetary tip! Thank you for visiting our work place! We do try to please.
