Their space is quite cozy, but charming and welcoming. The large front windows help illuminate the front half of the store and make it that much more inviting. If you browse here, you'll find a nice range of titles and genres, although their website says they have a focus on native gardening, environmental education, and children's nonfiction. To date, I have purchased a mixture of fiction and history books here. I also recently picked up some "blind book" / "date with a book" bundles, which were just too cute and enticing to pass up! There are also toys and other gifts stocked here, as hinted by the business name. They sell some Pittsburgh-based art, mugs, and candles; and I've purchased many stickers for myself and for friends alike. They also schedule events regularly - many author events as well as workshops and a book club, according to their social media. I myself recently attended a talk and beer tasting hosted by a local author; and I'm probably going to duck in during the next Crawl when they have "birds at the bookstore." (Real birds, by the way, that's not a metaphor for something!) Not only do I love the store itself, but the owner and staff are also great - very knowledgeable and nice to talk to. It is charming, it is elegant, it is whimsical and I spent more money than I had intended to (not that they are expensive...I just found a lot I wanted) but I absolutely LOVE everything I got! They have beautiful jewelry that I have never seen anywhere else and I picked up an adorable baby outfit for a shower I was invited to (they have a whole baby room full of "not your ordinary" baby gifts. This is the kind of gift shop you go to when you want to give a special gift, or when you need to give yourself a special pick-me-up! The owner was there and she was very nice and not pushy. She told me some interesting things about some of the jewelry I was looking at and explained the meaning behind the store name (her grandmother's name). I had a very enjoyable time, bought some very pretty things and I definitely will be back. I do believe it just became my favorite little store!
