My now husband goes to see Sydni (not sure I spelled his name correctly) and really enjoys his style and cuts! He has long hair and appreciates that Sydni is both a cosmetologist and barber. He gets neck shave, beard cut, and a long hair trim/cut every time all for about $60! Super affordable. The vibe inside is great! A large and clean place with fun music and friendly staff all around. Took my fiance to get his haircut here and everyone but the gentleman working there on 1/16 at 4pm was extremely rude. It all started at check-in. You should never argue about which stylist is taking the client right in front of the client. The person checking us in and the stylist we ended up having were both making it very clear they didnt want to cut my fiance's hair. Very unprofessional - keep your gripes about customers to the back, in private. My fiance was trying to explain what he wanted to the stylist and showed her a reference photo (which is normal). She was very patronizing and talked down to him like a child. We'd only recommend this place if you'd like an average haircut and terrible service. I scheduled a haircut a week in advance and it said I would be getting my hair cut by Javier. When I arrived for my hair cut 10 minutes early Javier took another client at 2pm which was when I was scheduled, which left me confused. I then had a different barber call my name and ask me to come back with him. It was a bit weird and felt off. I went with it anyways. I asked for a fade around the ears and to trim up the top, it was a pretty simple request since my hair is already short from getting it cut weekly. I received my haircut, hot shave, however, no message (its supposed to be included but not a big deal). I looked in the mirror and to me it looked okay from the front. I paid for my cut which cost $26! They told me it as a bald fade, however, it was done with clippers. If I would have known that I was paying for a bald fade I would have gotten a bald fade with a razor (Im happy I didn't because the cut was bad and it probably would have made it worse thinking about it). I arrived home shortly after the cut, as I live in GV. My girlfriend was shocked by my haircut and its quality. I asked her what she was talking about and she took a picture of the side of my head. There was no fade to my cut, it looked like I had a wide mohawk with a hard line. There was NO way I could go to work like that. I went back for them to fix it, and Christian gave me a bit of attitude and told me it would be 30 to 45 minutes to get it fixed! I was pretty pissed off now because I should have been a priority since my haircut was a nightmare and they let me walk out like that in the first place. I waited around for about 30 minutes and eventually called Santarelli's down the street they said they could fix it for me. I asked for a refund, and left. I went to Santarelli's got it fixed and left with a great haircut for a lot less then $26! Hope this helps those considering this barbershop. read more

She came in late from lunch and looked at my hair and said she does not want to do it because she'd mess it up. With a sarcastic tone. Then proceeded to walk straight to the back. One of the rudest experiences I've ever had. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The only good thing was that the more experienced barber gave great customer service. This barbershop in a strip on the edge of Grandview is much like the first location in Polaris, of which I am also a fan. White, shining tiles surround the inside while collages of Rolling Stones covers adorn the walls up above. Art books and various mags are for those waiting, but stay unspoiled due to the speed of their barbers. Classic rock is constantly playing which lends to their slogan of "Haircuts That Rock!" Also like Polaris taxidermy is a decor of choice but it's subtle and doesn't distract from the modern look and feel. I came in with a photo of what I wanted (which was MUCH different than what I had) and the barber was very precise and to the point, but friendly. After your cut you get a steamed towel head massage, a neck shave with cream and razor and an electric shoulder massage (not to ruin the surprise.) They respect the art and craft of the cut and make it an experience, not just an errand to cross off your list. They are known in Columbus for their trendy fades and cuts (around $21) and also shaves ($40), which I've never gotten. One day. Also a great and friendly place for kids cuts. They also have a call-ahead service to get your name on the waiting list before you get there: 614-525-0719. This was my second time here. Not a good experience at all. Barber cut my hair shorter than I asked which is annoying but not a huge issue. What made me mad is the barber started playing with his phone mid cut, filming me without permission, and spinning me around in every direction to get the perfect shot. Barber did was using clippers on the side of my head and was pushing hard enough to pop off the guard and take the blade to a 2 inch cut on the side of my head. Accidents occur but what happened after is what's frustrating. Instead of telling me about the situation I was turned away from the mirror and he started to give me a high fade. I had to ask before the barber told me what's going on. Now it's a mismatch on both sides and I'm scrambling for a solution. On top of all that they tried to charge me for the haircut and say "don't worry about it will grow back in two weeks". Been going here for six years but think this is my last time. read more

For the past few years, I've been taking myself and my two sons to a local franchise type barber basically because it was close, I could check how busy they were online and it was cheap. However, after the last round of subpar haircuts, my wife put her foot down and demanded I start taking the kids somewhere better. After asking a coworker whose son has a pretty good head of hair, I was directed to Blue Star. I used myself as a guinea pig and was satisfied with the results. They didn't fix my ever growing bald spot, but they aren't miracle workers. A few days later, I was back with kids in tow. The two barbers (whose names I forget) deftly handled my boys (ages 7 and 5) and had the kids looking stylish with high fades in no time. I ended up booking online for a same day appointment and was extremely pleased with the service. When I walked in I was greeted by the person working the front desk, I got into my appointment about 10 minutes after the scheduled time and from there on it was great. Laura cut my hair and she was very reassuring since this was my first time going to a different barber than usual. I got a fade and a trim and it was spot on. Included in the price of a hair cut and beard trim was a warm towel, a neck shave with a blade, and a back massage. Don't bother making an appointment, even though they take them. Showed up for my appointment prior to the scheduled time. Upon arriving, the attendant at the desk, David, was preoccupied with his computer. I stood there for while ultimately realizing that he was unwavering in his focus. Shortly after sitting down, another customer entered with an "appointment" after mine. Noticing that David was now willing to speak with customers, I approached him to let him know that I was here for my scheduled time. After waiting twenty five minutes and watching the other customer with the later appointment be taken for haircut, I approached David again concerned. He indicated in so many words that the appointments really do not mean anything. So, if you have time to kill and don't mind the discourteous service, definitely check this place out. They generally give good haircuts but the call ahead/walk-in system is terrible. The last two times I've tried to get a haircut, they said that their call ahead spots were booked but they had walk-ins available 20 minutes later. I asked if they could put my name in and he said he could not. I asked how many barbers were available for walk-ins at that time and he said 4 were available to handle walk-ins at that slot. Based on this info, I drove over and when I got there, although no customers were waiting, the earliest available time was a 1 hour and 45 minute wait. The barbers generally do a good job but the big guy with the Bengals hat working the front desk either didn't know how to work the schedule or just flat out lied to get customers in the door. After trying out a few places I think that Blue Star may have the best 'cut quality' to 'price' ratio that I've seen. Tristan cut my hair today and did a great job, rivaling the more expensive places to which I've gone recently. Went here a few weeks ago and the cut wasn't bad. They cut the back and sides a little shorter than I asked for, but it was probably partly my fault for not explaining thoroughly. Decided to give them another chance. I showed up yesterday at 7:10, 50 minutes before they close, and was told they couldn't fit me in. I should have known then that this place was a joke, but I came back today, this time at 6:00 PM. ONE person sitting there waiting and i was told they couldn't get me in until 7:30.
