Love this practice that was started by Dr Stephen Haake several years ago! Sadly, (although happily for him) he recently retired. He assembled a crew of dental hygienists and office staff that really had customer service down to a science! Although I haven't met the other dentists in the practice, I am confident they will continue the tradition of excellent dental care. I have appreciated that everyone at Blue Stem is very professional and friendly, and that the office runs on time. We have dental insurance and a good portion of the costs are covered, so I can't speak to affordability. But I think good dental care doesn't come cheap - but what does? read more

I left BlueStem after many years when they mismanaged an abscessed tooth which they saw on x-ray as a golf ball size pocket of puss yet failed to show me or even tell me about. When I came to them months later in severe pain I was referred for a root canal on the wrong (healthy) tooth and still not told about the abscess. All of this misinformation delayed treatment leading to unnecessary medical tests, pain meds, extreme prolonged suffering and a great deal of added expense. In the end it was clear that the care for several old, failing crowns and fillings had been neglected. I am now spending thousands to have these issues addressed at a new clinic. They weren't even cleaning my teeth effectively. read more

This place is the single best dental practice I've ever been to. My dentist (Altomare) is so thorough and detail oriented I wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff is amazing and the culture there is great, you can tell everyone really enjoys what they do. I had recently moved an hour and a half away and STILL would not go anywhere else. The surgeon (Dahlquist) is a BOSS and removed a wisdom tooth that was sideways that other practices said I would have to go to a specialist. He had it done in 30 min and the wound healed quickly and cleanly - with absolutely no pain. My other wisdom teeth hurt really bad to remove but that was at another dental surgery place. Dahlquist is getting a bad wrap on here from a vocal minority - he's great in my opinion and I've been to many. I wouldn't listen to the 1 star reviews, this place is simply amazing and I'll be a client for as long as they'll have me. read more

They are kind, friendly, and attentive. You can tell they really care about you and the work that needs to be done. They are very accommodating with appointments, letting you schedule appointments as close as one to two days from the time you make the appointment. They are one of the most accommodating dental practices you'll ever go to. They listen to what you need and seek to meet that need as best as they can. My family has been going there for several years, but today I finally decided that its time for a new dentist. It seems that the staff turnover is quite high as we rarely ever see the same hygienist twice. My hygienist was not friendly, had no smile and just seemed off. I informed her that I wanted to skip the X-rays and just get a cleaning. She gave me the reasons why I needed the X-rays. I told her I was aware but did not want them. She persisted, but I remained polite and once again told her that I did not want them. She then left and returned with forms that I was supposed to sign, in order to not have X-Rays. A permission slip to not have X-Rays. I realize that they bill insurance less when they don't do X-Rays, but seriously. You should also see how hard they sell stuff like sealant as well. Anyway, I decided that I need to find a dentist who will do what I request, and not have to argue about things like X-Rays and sealant every time I go. read more

I came to Haake dental because of the great reviews. I now see that they are all from 2017 and before. Perhaps they have a new dentist in the practice that isn't up to par. I was unlucky enough to get him as my oral surgeon. I went in for pain in my teeth and to talk about implants. Doctor Haake and Dahlquist were very interested in telling me how great I would look, but I didn't get any real information, despite asking. At the very least, I would need two teeth extracted soon so I made an appointment for them. The office staff is very nice and I signed up for their medical insurance. Cut to my extraction. Never before have I had such pain. I told them I usually needed extra numbing and to please go slow, which Dr. Dahlquist took to mean "go as hard and fast as you can with the numbing". I was literally grabbing on to the chair and moaning and he took no notice of my pain. Instead, when it wasn't numb enough yet, he proceeded to go in with another horrible shot and did not care that I was moaning and shrinking back from him. He pulled the teeth with gusto and left the room. I have never, ever had such a horrible experience with a dentist or oral surgeon. I will never let Dr. Dahlquist touch my mouth again. I notice that the positive statements are mostly from before 2018. Maybe there was a change, but I will never go back there and I will question yelp reviews a little more when it deals with a doctor or a dentist. I wish someone had warned me. read more

While undergoing a procedure for dental implants, Dr. Ryan Dahlquist cut a blood vessel causing me to hemorrhage for over 7 hours! I had to go to their office at 10:30 at night where Dr Haake worked on me trying to get the bleeding to stop. Finally, after an additional hour, he ended up putting stitches in to force the bleeding to stop. Shortly thereafter, I received a formal letter informing me that since this malpractice occurred, they were "resigning" from continuing to treat me! I've never heard of a doctor refusing to treat because they had caused an injury to a patient! read more

This is literally the best dentist I have had in my life. From the ease of setting the appointments, to the EXTREMELY welcoming staff, to the incredible bedside manner of Dr. Haake, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. After a horrendous experience with Modern Dentistry regarding getting my teeth pulled, the procedure was quick and I had minimal pain ( I had 3 impacted wisdom teeth pulled, there was still some pain). I also had adult invisible braces put on here and that experience was made better by the staff who gave great advice. I cannot say enough good things about the office as a whole and Dr. Haake. Bonus, I am leaving the state in 2 weeks and he wanted to make sure that I had an Ortho there so he reached out to a friend to get me a new dentist. read more

First time patient at Haake Family Dental. The staff was great. Had an appointment the day after calling in. Lindsey was super patient and explained what she was doing. No pressure for added services, and felt they had my best interest in mind. They took time to get to know me and Dr Boydston was very courteous not pushy like other dentist offices in the area. Service is texting your dentist's wife during your mom panic (before 7AM!), and when you call the dentist office you find your kid is already on the schedule!! We drive nearly 40 min to the dentist, and I would drive farther if we had to. They take such great care of us!! I scheduled an appointment via email for 7am, they did not actually book the appointment, but still did not squeeze me in when it is their error! I was the first person in the office and still was not seen. If you do book an appointment triple check as they will not do anything to fix it the same day. read more

I am a physician and this is a completely honest review. I recently saw Dr Haake and Dahlquist multiple times within last 3 weeks as one of my fillings kept falling off over and over again. Dr. Dahlquist has no bed side manners, is harsh, rude, in a rush, insensitive and totally callous, gets upset with you if you tell him that he is hurting you during the procedure. Dr Haake told me that I was asking too many questions about my dental health and asked me that they cannot see someone asking questions about their teeth in their practice. So, if you choose this practice, remember do not ask questions- they do not like that. I guess, that brings out insecurity and incompetence in the doctors at this practice. read more

Offered complimentary consult with coupon mailer. Dr. Haake told me I needed a new crown plus 3 cavities filled. Took results to regular dentist, and he did same tests that showed I needed NOTHING. Yes, NOTHING. Just to re-confirm everything, I went to a third dentist, and his x-rays showed NOTHING as well. Two other doctors confirmed the x-rays and results from Dr. Haake's office were incorrect. And to ice the cake even further, I went BACK to Dr. Haake, and he re-confirmed to me that's what he wanted to do. I've been too busy to put everything together to mail to the KS Board of Dentistry. This dentist is fraudulent, and my heart breaks for all of the patients that are having unnecessary work (including high costs) done. Stay away. read more
