Dont Stay Here. Worth the commute from another town to stay in an actual Motel…read more The first impression I noticed was the stench of curry (this was before I even entered the office) and it only got worse. The manager's wife did not speak english very well at all, she couldn't find my reservation, she then just went to the back and after 15 minutes of what a conversation at an Indian street vender in would be like, I ended up paying for another room and doing the paperwork over again, then the "husband" (I assume the manager) meanders out of the back room and then magically they found my room reservation... So after 20 minutes of refunding and playing with credit cards (you know I'll be watching my banking account now) the manager instructs me on how to finagle with the heater to get it to work, there is a single power strip for us to use and the door doesnt lock, it has a chain instead... AND THIS PLACE WASNT EVEN CHEAP, 75 for a 2 bed for one night!

I am currently staying in a room here and I regret my decision wholeheartedly. Please consider…read morethese facts before you decide to stay here. 1. The manager is not customer friendly. My friend made a reservation, walked into the room, saw that it was dirty, small and had poorly working air conditioning and asked for her money back. He refused. 2. The rooms are DIRTY: there is a dead cricket on the floor, mold in the fridge, stains on the sheets and I found a suspect hair on my pillow. Not to mention loads of mildew in the bathroom and a clogged drain, inadequate lighting. Discovering a faulty door lock was the icing on the cake and Prompted me to write this review. I would think twice before making a reservation here.

This multi-generational family owned motel is a respite for the weary traveler. The owners are…read moresuper accommodating and handled a weather crisis (there was a fairly severe thunderstorm/pseudo-tornado which damaged the facility while we were there) with grace and patience. This is not a place for those looking for extensive amenities; however, it is clean, comfortable and has everything needed for a restful experience in a quaint little town.

I probably would have given it a 4, but I wanted to offset the previous review, which seemed very unfair to me. The counter people were very polite and helpful. The rooms were clean and well maintained, for a motel from the 60's. Older, fluffy carpets and funky retro ceramic tile with somewhat mismatched loud colors. Price was good, only $50 a night (plus taxes, of course, so $57 total) I came here to relive memories, since I grew up in Yates Center 40 years ago. The counter man had been here since the 60's and filled me in on all kinds of charming details. It was a very nice encounter with a pleasant man. As far as the motel room, clean and well maintained. The water in the sink and the bathtub was fine, even drinkable without a bad taste. Sheets and towels were clean and plentiful. Coffee maker in the room and ice maker in the front office, TV and refrigerator in the room, air conditioner worked great. Plenty of electric plug-ins, more than usual for a motel of this vintage.I typically bring an extra extension cable with me, but didn't need it here. Free Wi-Fi that actually worked! Bed seemed comfortable when I laid down on it, but I was stiff in the morning. That might just be me, tho. We always bring air mattresses with us to places like this, and I guess I should have taken the extra 10 minutes to blow them up. Most hotels we stay in have uncomfortable beds in my opinion, and usually worse than these. I would most definitely come here again, if for any reason I was in Yates Center again. Probably not, since I had no reason to be here except the memories, which was a one-time experience.
