Phone Repair Philly saved me so much money and hassle! I did a battery replacement on my iPhone 5c on my own, but after I put the phone back together, it wasn't turning on or charging. I took it to Apple, and they said they couldn't do anything because I used a third party part, and that I would need to replace the whole phone. Then I took it to Phone Repair Philly. The guy took my phone, and brought it back to me fully functioning. I had reconnected the battery incorrectly when I put my phone back together. He didn't even charge me for his time! Now I have a functioning phone with a new battery that is running much better. No need to spend a ton of money and hassle on replacement. These guys are honest and helpful. I brought my phone here to have the battery replaced about 1 week ago. The employee, I believe his name was Joshua, brought my phone into another room and then returned it telling me to make sure I charge the new battery to 100% to ensure proper functioning. When I arrived home 20 minutes later the battery percent had dropped from 23% to 6%. I called right away since this didn't seem right. I was told it was most likely a hardware problem but I could come back and get a new battery. It was shady so I decided to bring my phone to the Northern Liberties location today finally only to find out the battery had never been replaced. I still had my original apple battery there. I made an appointment, took off work, took the train into the city, only to be told that they can't actually fix the specific problem with my phone model. No warning before the appointment. The first time I went to this place my screen was cracked but still working properly. The guy fixed my phone quickly and all seemed good, but then not even 20 minutes later, the screen was unresponsive in a few parts. I tried a few different things to get it working but it was clear that it was broken. The next day I called and told him that the repair broke my screen. He told me it would be $80 to fix..... Obviously told him absolutely not since it was his fault and he agreed to fix it for free. Phone worked fine after that so I was satisfied, even given this incident. Recently my phone screen was cracked again, I made an appointment online for 5:30 pm and showed up 15 minutes early. The receptionist told me the guy working was gone for the day. And that he'd been gone for hours. Obviously I went somewhere else (iMobile Tech on 11th and Chestnut, highly recommend). When the owner from Phone Repair Philly emailed me to see how the appointment went, I told him no one was there. He said "What time did you get there? We close at 6". No apology or anything. DO NOT GO HERE. Brought my iPhone in for a screen replacement. $150 later, I had a new screen, yes, but 99 other problems. In the weeks following my repair, problem after problem occurred with my phone, such that now my camera, brightness, and more, is messed up. Unforeseen problems happen. I get that. And there are problems that these repair guys are just ill-equipped to fix. What is really beyond my understanding, however, is that the manager, Mac, refuses to acknowledge that any of these problems stemmed from my visit to his company, and has not offered $1 in refund for the damages my phone incurred beginning with the first day my screen was replaced. He's been extremely rude over email and keeps telling me over and over that he will refund me when I give him back his ($50) "expensive screen" and that he will not compensate me for any damages. So I should just accept to have a broken -- and screenless --phone, having lost hours of my time going back time after time to their "shop" (a desk at the high-security business prison, WeWork)? Here's what happened: Directly following my screen replacement at Phone Repair Philly, my auto-brightness (what dims and brightens the screen in response to light) completely stopped working. I brought the phone back to Phone Repair Philly in and the repair guy (super nice) was mystified. Could not get it to go back on. Told me it could be a software issue, despite the fact that I never had this problem until the day after they replaced my screen. So I went home and tried the software fix he suggested. Still broken. I brought the phone in again, this time to a new repair guy who was new, he told me. He then proceeded to take an hour to put yet another new screen halfway on it. This time the screen kept glitching out, as he showed me, my phone gaping open in the hallway, so another 30 minutes and he put my old screen back on. He claimed I simply had a dimmer button unclicked, and sent me on my way. The problem was that not only did I, but the first repair guy had already checked that simple on/of dimmer button, and the auto-brightness was still not working. So basically, I spent another hour and half there and was back to square one, same problem, same screen. Following this third "repair," in which the guy clearly did not know what he was doing and was really patronizing, my phone stopped turning black while I was on the phone, causing my face to press buttons or send emails as I am talking. Finally, the next day, my front-facing camera stopped working completely. I thought evidence of all of these damages would be enough for the manager to step in and simply offer me a refund in compensation for all of the problems I now have withe my brand new phone, and the additional repairs the phone will now have to undergo (gonna go somewhere else for that obviously). Nope. I called and was told someone would get back to me. Nothing. Sent the manager Mac an upset email after no one responded to me for days, telling him I was having the worst customer service experience. This was his response: "You have had the worst customer experience ever? I find that hard to believe. You had a cracked screen before, and now you dont. Your phone still works and you can and are using it, but making it sound worse than it is. I understand how annoying it is as well. But it works. All said, give me my expensive screen back and I am happy to refund you." I guess I should just be happy that my brand new iPhone 8 has a screen and still kind of "works" and stop complaining about how my camera is messed up and my face presses the buttons. I'm making it "sound worse than it is"! Amazing. If he had just offered me even $50 back I would have happily ran away from them, glad they would never touch my phone again. But now I am here writing this review. The only thing that would be more perfect is if Mac responds to this telling me again he will refund me if I give him his "expensive screen" back. I think I've heard that phrase 20 times. read more

On 5/17 I had a terrible experience at Phone Repair Philly. I chose to get my cracked iPhone 8 screen fixed there after reading great reviews. I dropped my phone off at their 14th and walnut location inside of WeWorks around 2pm. The guy told me I would have to leave it for a few hours which I said ok too even though I was a little let down as their website guarantees a 30 minute turnaround time. I tell the guy I'll be back around 5:30 to which he says perfect that's more than enough time. I get there at 5:30 the employee comes down and says he needs another 15 minutes. Now I'm like ok, I'm seeing a trend here. At 6:20ish (50 mins later) I get the front desk people at WeWorks to call the guys which are two floors up and I speak to the guy and tell him I have to give them a bad review as the service and lack of communication have been poor to which he puts his boss he owner, Mac on and this is when things get crazy. Mac comes down and tells me it's my fault because I don't have the latest software update and I tell him that his service is terrible and I just want my phone fixed and back. I ask him what are the solutions because that's what I'm paying you for. He say let's go to my office cause I don't want you making a scene in my lobby. We go upstairs and I mention to mac that there are two customers (me being one of them) that gave you phones working but with cracked screens and now after your company and you touched these working phones they are now not working. Mac turns to his Employees and says he thinks went don't know what we are doing. To which I reply it seems that way. Joe is also googling how to fix my phone. But they were going to charge $120?! I keep pressing Joe for solutions. He turns to the employee and says his problem is we didn't communicate with him he wanted you to run up and down the stairs. I say Mac just give me my phone. He says how about I put the cracked screen back on and give it back to you. I say perfect. And asked to use the restroom. The employee walks me to the restroom and apologizes for mac's behavior and says I hate when he's rude to customers like this. I thank the employee and tell him how kind he's been. When I get back to the office the owner is putting the cracked screen back on and says you're going to have to go to the Apple store. To which I reply this is nuts I gave you my phone with a cracked screen and now I have to go the Apple store. The owner replies your making it like I'm the difficult and I said you are. I'm the customer and while you google how to fix my phone, google customer service. 2 hours later I'm in the Apple store and had to pay to get an entirely new phone. The owner lied and said my phone wouldn't turn on because I didn't have the latest iOS system when it was because he disabled something in my charging port and which stopped the phone from turning on. read more
