Eric R. and I won a night stay here from the K-State Travel and Dining Auction. It is less than half an hour north of our house, but it felt very different, so it is a great place for a getaway! We were in a beautiful suite with a full, gorgeous kitchen and living space, breathtaking views through a wall of windows in both the living and bedroom, and a quaint bedroom and en suite bathroom with double sinks! We stayed there last Sunday night, and though it is a lodge with three rooms, we were the only ones in the entire building! We had the idea to rent kayaks, but unfortunately did not have a way to transport them on our car to the nearby Fancy Creek, so we opted for hiking instead. There are a lot of trails near the lodge, many for four wheelers and mountain bikes. We had a nice hike in the area Sunday afternoon. We also had great communication with Drew, who helped us book via email and also stopped by to welcome us and see if he could help with anything. We also toured the wedding venue down the road from the lodge, which was really beautiful near the lake, with indoor and outdoor space. Drew mentioned that events could happen in the lodge to, seating up to 72 people in the lobby. I recommend bringing food to cook. We thought about going to the general store in Randolph (Short Stop) but it closed early on Sundays, so we decided to go out to dinner. On Sundays, the nearest places open for dinner (which were the same length drive from our house, so we could have gone home to grab ingredients) were The Little Grill in Manhattan near Tuttle Creek and La Fiesta in Clay Center. We had recently eaten at The Little Grill, so we went to Clay Center. It was not worth the hour drive and if you go on a night of the week when 15-24 Brewhouse is open, go there. We returned to enjoy pie I brought from Therapie's farmers market booth and relax. There is a huge TV on the wall. The next morning, we got up early to do a workout on the deck facing the lake, and worked in the living space until we left at 11 AM.
