After a week of not hearing back from them with an estimate, I had to remind them that they were asked to service my equipment. 4 weeks and several phone calls after I had dropped them off my fridges were "ready to be picked up". I picked them up and plugged them in to see if they were get below 40 degrees and they wouldn't get below 50 after several hours. I called Duotech to ask them to correct their mistake, they did not answer. I left a message and sent an email, no response beside an invoice for $1200 being emailed to me. I told them I had no intention of paying it until they fixed their mistake. I ended up having to ring my fridges to another company who fixed them in several hours and they informed me Duotech had put the wrong voltage motor in my fridge causing it to not run properly. Instead of acknowledging my complaint in anyway, they sent my bill to collections. I explained to the collection agency what had happened and they accused me of "holding the parts hostage". We came to an agreement that I would pay over $600 for the cost of that parts. I only paid this money to have this not affect my credit and to be done with it. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau, which Duotech never responded to as well, until after I paid the agreed upon $600, I got another call from a different person in the same collection agency who asked me to remove my complaint from the Better Business Bureau and in exchange they would accept the smaller amount which I had already paid. Long story short these guys are scumbags and I would urge anybody thinking about even calling them to stay away

However, the actual cause of the problem was never clearly identified because most of the visit was spent trying to upsell us on additional services or a new unit. I was repeatedly told that the unit was old, poorly maintained, and that the best option was to replace it. The first repair estimate was around **$6,000** for a compressor replacement. Later, I was offered another option for about **$900** to replace the start capacitor and relay, along with a coil cleaning. We declined both repairs and simply paid **$224** for the service call. Afterward, I drove to Home Depot, bought a replacement start capacitor for about **$20**, and installed it myself in roughly **15 minutes**. The AC unit started working again. Will the unit fail again soon? Probably--it is old. But for now, it works. Could an experienced technician have identified and repaired this particular issue quickly instead of focusing on selling a replacement? In my opinion, yes. Decide for yourself whether you want to call Aire for **repairs**. Based on my experience, the emphasis seemed to be on selling a new system rather than diagnosing and repairing the existing one.

On May 13, 2025, they performed a…read moretune-up on both of our AC units, noting on the invoice that the condensate drain line was inspected and cleaned. The technician told us the systems were in great shape and reported no issues. On June 23, we discovered water damage in a closet beneath the attic and found it originated from a slow drip at the drain line T-pipe. We called the company back the same day. Their technician said a connection was not glued, claimed to have fixed it, and cleaned the line again. When we asked them to cover the water damage that evening, their owner said: "He did, um, he you know opened it up, not that specific part, but where it initially comes out. He even sprayed some cleaner in it" and stated she did not believe the drip was related to their service. The following day, after we found another unglued connection at the location where the line initially comes out, the owner then said: "the area in question was not part of the work we performed." To me, this seemed inconsistent with her statement the day before that he had opened the line in that exact spot. She also said: "it appears there may be issues related to the drain line's installation." I found this confusing, because if the connection was believed to be unglued from installation, it was hard to reconcile with her earlier claim that he had used that same spot to clean the line. On June 25, we hired another HVAC company, who confirmed it would be impossible to clean our drain line without using one of the two points in question -- including the T-pipe where the first leak occurred. One of their employees also told us that if the leak had been caused by their service, we would have seen a huge gush of water almost immediately after they left. However, the restoration team hired by our insurance inspected the walls and ceiling and confirmed the water damage pattern was consistent with a slow drip. Water traveled from the attic down a king stud into our closet, bypassing ceiling drywall -- evidence of a gradual issue consistent with the timeline since their service. Our insurance company has informed us they are pursuing subrogation with this company. The total claim was $4,249.16 -- of which insurance covered $3,249.16 and we paid a $1,000 deductible out of pocket. What further concerned me was the response after I shared my experience publicly. I received hostile and intimidating messages from people who identified themselves as relatives of the owners, including name-calling and demands such as "leave True Comfort alone" and "you can block me but you can't hide." In conclusion - I personally found it difficult to reconcile the company's claims that they cleaned the drain line with their denial of touching either access point. In my opinion, both the initial service and the way the situation was handled afterward felt unprofessional, and I would not hire this company again.

Before any work began, the service manager did NOT explain the hourly rate or pricing structure although they claim their calls are recorded, we requested for them to listen back on their recordings to show we were not explained their high pricing. Had we been told that two employees would be billed at $150 per hour each (a combined $300 per hour which is insane for this type of job), we would have stopped the job and discussed other options before proceeding ESPECIALLY because the one was shadowing and learning still. Scott had to constantly walk him through how to do what they were doing. This project was simply converting one kitchen sink drain to accommodate two sinks. The vanity and sink faucets were already built! All they had to do was convert the pipes below the sinks. The plumbers did not need to work in the crawl space during the installation. They snug the sink so tight on the vanity that the top drawer will not open or close!!! THE WORK TOOK THEM 10 HOURS TO COMPLETE as the crew also took a lunch break and tried to charge their time for it making it a 12 hour job and we had to talk them down those 2 extra hours (one hour lunch per each man). From our perspective, this was work that could have been completed by one experienced plumber in MAYBE a half day TOPS (4 hours not 10!), and we were never given the opportunity to approve or decline having a second person billed at full rate. They said our job was the only one they had for the day so we felt as though they tried to milk every hour possible and were in no rush to complete it in a timely manner. After leaving our original review, the owner called us. He stated that "Scott is a good guy and well worth the $300 an hour," but also said there was nothing he was willing to do to resolve our concerns. Despite later stating publicly that adjustments were made to our invoice, the only adjustment discussed was to acknowledge the job took closer to 10 hours rather than 12. No meaningful resolution or reimbursement was offered. There was not other time spent on other projects although the owner claimed this as well other than helping to turn faucets on for my husband while he was in the crawlspace to see if there were any leaks before they wrapped up and left for the day. I wouldn't call that helping fix other issues in the home. I also didn't know we had to fund every little item spent at the store such as plumbers putty. We were not offered to keep the items they claimed to have charged us on our dime. What disappoints us most is not simply the cost--it's the lack of transparency before the work started and the unwillingness to take responsibility afterward. They demanded we paid before they left that day even though we did not want to pay without discussing with a manager on the $300 an hour charge first. We felt that was unfair and too costly for what has just transpired. We believe customers deserve to know exactly how they will be billed before authorizing a job, especially when multiple employees are being charged at full hourly rates. We asked for a manager to call us and it took them over 2 weeks to call us back just to say basically too bad so sad. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend BK Plumbing. They had to come out twice because they didn't want replace an expensive part if it didn't have to be. Unfortunately, it did turn out to be the issue but they didn't charge another service call. They were very thorough, replaced the part and then made some suggestions for future improvements but were not pushy. When the time came to make those improvements they were exactly who we called. They try to find the most economical way to do things and actually know what they are talking about. It was really refreshing to do business with people who aren't trying to nickel and dime you to death AND who have the knowledge on how to repair a unit. They are 100% my choice and I trust them fully.
