I called Aire to diagnose an AC unit that had suddenly stopped working…read more To be fair, some diagnostic checks were performed. However, the actual cause of the problem was never clearly identified because most of the visit was spent trying to upsell us on additional services or a new unit. I was repeatedly told that the unit was old, poorly maintained, and that the best option was to replace it. The first repair estimate was around **$6,000** for a compressor replacement. Later, I was offered another option for about **$900** to replace the start capacitor and relay, along with a coil cleaning. We declined both repairs and simply paid **$224** for the service call. Afterward, I drove to Home Depot, bought a replacement start capacitor for about **$20**, and installed it myself in roughly **15 minutes**. The AC unit started working again. Will the unit fail again soon? Probably--it is old. But for now, it works. Could an experienced technician have identified and repaired this particular issue quickly instead of focusing on selling a replacement? In my opinion, yes. Decide for yourself whether you want to call Aire for **repairs**. Based on my experience, the emphasis seemed to be on selling a new system rather than diagnosing and repairing the existing one.

R & M climate HVAC technicians Matthew (Matt) and Jeremiah, installed a new RUUD downstairs combo…read morenatural gas heat and central air conditioning unit beginning at 7 am on Monday April 4, 2022 at left side of my 2 story 3000 sq ft house right next to gas meter and chimney and existing Lennox new upstairs attic fan unit. As soon as they pulled the huge old Lennox box unit away from against the lower crawl space opening of my house, they smelled extremely strong smell of leaking natural gas from KUB. They immediately stopped all work and ran around my house to tell me to call KUB emergency tech to close off my gas meter beside house and lockout/tagout the unit till my black iron pipe natural gas leaks were fixed. I called KUB immediately and their tech arrived within 5 minutes and closed and locked down their natural gas meter against my house right beside the new RUUD combo gas heat, central air unit being installed! I truly believe that HVAC R & M Technicians MATT (Matthew) and Jeremiah actually saved my life from a natural gas explosion within my home where I was at the time. Tech Matt removed the 2 inch black iron 12 inch long pipe going from the outside KUB gas meter through a metal sleeve into the crawl space under my house and it was so badly corroded that there were many leaks that you could see through this thick black iron corroded so badly it was leaking profusely!! Matt went to Home Depot, replaced this main 2 inch black iron pipe with brand new one. Matt and Jeremiah both checked to see if gas piping held 10 lb of air pressure for 15 min and it did not hold up-still leaking. Matt did not charge me for this work -he also spent a few hours repairing 6 to 8 other black iron elbow joint natural gas leaks in my black iron gas pipes under crawl space. They informed me to call a Master Plumber at Tennessee Standard --Daniel Richardson who came out Wednesday at 3 pm and again Thursday at 3:30pm to fix one more leak under house and one leak in my other upstairs HVAC unit replacing small section of black iron down thru the wooden attic floor that was leaking. Called KUB to unlock and turn natural gas back on and had R&M climate send another tech out to wind up a switch to get my gas heat working inside my home!! Very pleased with Matthew and Jeremiah ESPECIALLY! Tremendous job guys! I thank you so very much for saving my life and for your great professional work. I highly recommend these two HVAC techs from R & M Climate Service Experts. They went way above and beyond their duty to perform their jobs!!
