Blue Water Spa is located in the Raven Ridge Shopping Center in North Raleigh. The spa has operated for 22 years. I first came to Blue Water Spa about 20 years ago for laser hair removal. At the time I did that, you paid by treatment and did not need a package. I was very pleased with the treatments and have returned over the years for other services. The spa has expanded since I first started coming and more services are provided. There are monthly specials and the Black Friday specials are the best deals of the year. Appointments can be made by calling or texting. It was very easy to set up. When you enter the calm environment, you check in at the front desk. After my first visit, I have been greeted by name. I was referred to Blue Water Spa and to be fair, I didn't have a problem with the employees or facility. I must say they have a beautiful facility and everyone is very pleasant. The Aesthetic Nurse Injector was very sweet. I question the Botox that was used on me. During my consultation I was told that I would need 16 units at $14.50 which would equal $232. I also received an email with the same information. Instead I spent over $400. The first times I went in the nurse did approximately 6 units of Botox. Mostly focusing on eyebrows and 3 frown lines in forehead. It seemed to work fine. November 1st I had more done which cost more than $300 and it did not work. She focused mostly on the forehead and between the eyebrows. I contacted the nurse by email and informed her that the Botox did not work. She suggested I come in to have it done again because sometimes they get faulty vials. I went in a second time and it still did not work (see photos). I contacted her again by email to let her know it still didn't work and she suggested that I come back in and this time she would use dysport. Because Botox is not a very comfortable process and I was afraid it may not work the third time, I suggested maybe using the money that I had paid for Botox to be used for another service they offered and/or consultation with the doctor for plastic surgery. I never received a response or follow up from her to resolve the issue or provide a solution. The unfortunate part to all of this is that whatever was injected into my skin made my forehead look rough with bumps and it seems like I have way more wrinkles in my forehead now than before getting Botox. See the pictures which were taken 2 weeks and a month after Botox. What's unfortunate is that I really liked the location and the people. I had planned to continue using them for other services as well. But I am disappointed they have chosen not to resolve this matter. It has caused me to question whether or not, I was being injected with anything during my last visits. Blue Water Spa permanently disfigured my face and refuses responsibility. In May of 2021, I suffered a visible and permanent facial defect as a direct result of cosmetic filler treatments I had at Blue Water Spa from employee Mari Lippig. Two separate physicians have confirmed that the injury was a result of her poor technique. During my first appointment, Mari suggested filler below my cheekbones. I agreed to 2 vials. In the middle of the treatment, Mari suggested 2 more vials. I was in pain and distracted, but I agreed, for a total cost of $3,200.00. During the treatment, the left side proceeded with bearable discomfort, but when she moved to the right side, there was such intense pain that I nearly fainted. Mari stopped the procedure, adjusted the chair to lay me flat, elevated my feet, and got me a can of juice. (I have never had this happen when receiving filler from other providers.) Mari's demeanor after this incident changed. She appeared nervous and distracted and quickly completed my treatment and rushed me out of the room. Although still faint from the procedure, I paid and left. When I arrived home and looked in the mirror, I saw a deep linear furrow and large indentation below the right cheekbone in the area where I received treatment from Mari. Alarmed, I decided to wait a few days, hoping the appearance would improve, but it worsened daily, so I called Blue Water Spa early in the morning of Wednesday, May 5th. I was given Mari's email address, and I sent her a photo of my right cheek area and voiced my concerns. Mari responded and told me that what I was experiencing was normal, and would resolve within two weeks when the swelling subsided. I made a follow-up appointment for Wednesday, May 19th at 2:00. When I arrived for the appointment, Mari became nervous and flustered after looking at my right cheek area. She said she would fix it with more filler. When she finished, she said "it looks great" but did not show it to me. Mari took numerous photos, which she also did not show to me, and she again rushed me out. Upon arriving home, I could see that not only was the problem NOT resolved, but had been worsened. Two photos from Thursday, May 20th clearly show a linear defect straight from the cannula entry point. Clearly, there was further damage from the second treatment. On the 20th, frightened by the appearance on the day after the second procedure, I sent a summary to my physician, who responded that there was definitely a problem. I made an appointment for June 18th to find options for treatment to repair the damaged area. Friday, June 18th, my doctor examined the area and advised me that more filler might help to camouflage the damage created by Mari. In addition to the $3,200 I spent at Blue Water, I expended an additional $1,300 on Friday, June 18th toward correcting this issue, which did not resolve it. My physician then suggested I take action against Blue water Spa as the injury did not appear repairable. Mari never followed up with me after the second treatment on May 19th. My doctor said it was extremely unethical to upsell me in the middle of performing a painful procedure. Mari was well aware that she damaged my face, ergo her demeanor at the end of my first procedure and during the second. Over the ensuing weeks and months, all I requested from Blue Water Spa was a refund for the filler treatments and the cost of the further treatment necessary to try and cover the injury. They refused, despite my physician sending them two letters that their employee's actions caused me an injury that was apparently permanent. I am posting this three years later because I still have a visible injury and Blue Water Spa of Raleigh has denied responsibility for it. I did not request anything excessive from them - only to refund me the money I paid for this horribly-botched job for which I was told there were grounds for a lawsuit by a personal injury attorney I consulted. I just had lip filler at Blue a Water Spa with a Nurse Practitioner named Ashley. I had zero pain. Actually the Pronox she used was awesome. It took the edge off to say the least. My lips already look amazing and I have no bruising. I got 1 syringe only and it looks perfect. Ashley told me that I may want more after the swelling goes down so I scheduled a follow up to see I loved that she totally listened to me and just what I wanted. I didn't want my upper lip to look to full. I'm really happy right now The place is so clean and pretty. They had people opening the doors so I never had to touch a door handle and people were cleaning the waiting area. There was a card in the Botox room showing that the room had just been cleaned. It was nice. I waited I'm a private waiting room behind a water feature. I will go back for my follow up appointment and post to see if I get more filler or keep what I have. This was my first experience with any enhancements and overall I can say I feel extremely disappointed in my results. The front of house staff and injector were extremely professional but I feel mislead about what I was to expect for my results. The front of house staff was professional, organized, friendly, and on point. Their COVID safety protocols were to the highest standards. I was treated with respect by everyone there. I felt completely safe with my injector and still feel like I was in good hands, just not very effective hands. I went in to get lip filler and botox. I was thinking juvederm, but was persuaded to get the longer lasting restalyne kysse. There is a huge price difference between the two. Restalyne kysse was almost 3x as expensive as juvederm, but was supposed to last 3 times as long. It was excruciatingly painful. I was told halfway through that it would help if I wasn't about to start my period, but was never told that before my appointment. It was horrendously painful and I feel like lidocaine is a bit of a joke when it comes to a painkiller for a procedure of this kind. I was also told by the injector that she didn't even think she would need a full syringe on me so we could put the extra in my frown lines, which sounded great! I would get two of my insecurities fixed. We ended up using the whole thing for my lips, which is fine because you can't always predict how that will work out. I LOVED my initial results. They looked amazing and sexy, I was so confident. But I swear within 2 months they were completely GONE. I was told they would last 9 months-1 year vs 3-4 months of Juvederm. I spent almost 1k on lips that disappeared in two months... I went back and they were nice enough to give me a free lip flip... but it's still not what I was expecting. The injector told me that we discussed that we might have to do two syringes to get my desired results... which was definitely not the case. I saved up my money for these injections and would never have agreed to spending almost 2k on my lips within a few months... I would have done juvederm if I needed that much product because quite honestly, I can't afford to spend that much money all at once. I feel like I wasted almost $1k. At 26 years old, this was a ton of money for me that I flushed down the drain (almost my rent money). I'm honestly just really sad about the whole thing. read more

This review would have been a negative one had it not been for Jasmine at Blue Water Spa and Blue Water Spa's management's receptiveness to my situation through Jasmine's communication. I had done five laser hair removal sessions with Blue Water Spa and between each session I had noticed significant hair regrowth. The previous two techs that did my first five sessions did not do them properly (that I found out after the fact) and because of staffing levels kept trying to get me in and out of the office as fast as possible. It was at the sixth session I expressed my frustration that I was supposed to be almost hair free at this point in the areas I was being treated and was aggravated that I basically looked the same. Jasmine took my frustration seriously and was able to get me free sessions to compensate me for the fact my previous sessions were not done correctly and also took the time to educate me on the proper timing for each session and how sessions for laser hair removal should go. Because of Jasmine's steadfast patience and professionalism I am still going to Blue Water Spa. I also appreciated Blue Water Spa's management listening to my circumstances through Jasmine and fixing the situation. All in all the experience is now very good as opposed to the first sessions. I had 6 treatments of laser hair removal in 2 areas with minimal results. I have been informed that depending on the area it usually takes 6-8 treatments. At the 6th treatment I commented that I'm very disappointed with results and technician mentioned that that she can increase the settings and that she should have done it from the beginning. Also, at my last treatment technician warned me that burning smell will be more intense this time as laser is operating without filter as new one wasn't available. I already spent 2 thousand and for desirable results it would take another 2k which I don't think is worth it. Unsure if laser was outdated or settings were not correct. I have been so impressed with my lower face filler treatment and Botox with Brooke NP. I've had filler and Botox many times throughout the years ( since 2001 ) and by far she is one of the best!! Her "gentle hand" and "eye for detail" made the whole experience top notch. I didn't even bruise and I went out that evening without anyone knowing. All people kept saying was "Wow! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BLUE WATER SPA for anyone seeking CoolSculpting treatment. I received CoolSculpting treatment on October 12, 2023, after having several consultations with their technicians Kandi and Serenity. I am pretty slim, 5'2 and 140 pounds, I wanted to get rid of the little stubborn fat around my abdomen. I was told that CoolSculpting was a very safe procedure, and that I should not be concern about any potential side effects except for numbness and swelling. In December, I noticed that my stomach stilled looked swollen and began to harden. I reached out to Kandi and she indicated swelling usually takes 3-6 months to reduce. I had scheduled a follow-up visit in January, in which I shared the same concerns regarding the appearance of my stomach, in which it started to look much bigger than it did before the treatment. On March 6, 2024, I contacted Kandi again with the same concerns, and was told that I may need to get another treatment, so I scheduled another treatment for April 3, 2024 with Serenity. I shared my concerns with Serenity, she stated that she need to consult with the nurse on staff. The nurse examined my abdomen and stated that I developed paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) that resulted from the CoolSculpting treatment. My stomach is completely disfigured, with an enlarged bulge that is the shape of the CoolSculpting applicators. The nurse indicated the only method to correct it was lipo surgery. I have never had surgery before and I shared my frustration with them, as she appeared dismissive and unconcerned. Blue Water Spa did not offer to reimburse my money, indicating they will have to submit a claim with the CoolSculpting manufacturers and that it could take up to 3 months. I have yet to receive a sincere apology or my money. I have consulted with a lawyer and a surgeon for next steps. DO NOT GO HERE FOR COOLSCULPTING! read more

I loved my experience at Blue Water Spa. I received a 90-mintue massage from their talented staff. The facility is calming and clean. Personally, I love the medical spa experience, especially for massages. I tend to get longer lasting results from a massage therapist with heavy pressure, than just a feel good relaxing massage. I went in for my first laser hair removal here recently. To get started you have to be cleared by an NP that only works weekdays so you have squeeze this first visit into your work schedule. I scheduled my consultation/clearance and first treatment on the same day. Luckily I've had laser hair removal before so I knew to prep the area and avoid sun exposure /not use products that increase sensitivity to sun before the treatment however known of the was went over with me when I scheduled over the phone and I never got a confirmation email. If someone was knew to this they could've been potentially not been able to have the treatment since there were no instructions given before or incurred a $75 fee for not shaving beforehand. After scheduling my next visit I did get this information via email, so I'm guessing whoever scheduled me just slipped up. On top of that, I got there early to fill out paperwork and it took the NP 30 minutes or more to see me and my assigned tech was an hour late. They gave me a free gift at checkout to make up for it and the tech was super nice and apologetic but it's still frustrating. I will probably continue to go here since the package deal makes them a slightly better deal than other places in the area. They also don't charge you upfront for a 10 session package you might not need like other places. I agree that you need to stick with the same tech so they will treat the same area the same time. Some techs define the areas slightly different which means you could be getting less or more treated areas from session to session which could compromise results. Hopefully I'll be able to update my review with more positive feedback after additional visits. read more

When I walk out from my appointment there stands the person who I had scheduled my appointment with. I specifically asked to see the provider with more experience. Well now here I am with no feeling in my lips, can barely drink a sip of water without it dripping out of my mouth, and require a mirror to apply basic gloss to my lips!! I have never had a reaction to the services that were administered until now. Not to mention I left with a great deal of swelling and pain to the site, which again has never happened before. I have mixed feelings about this place. I really feel comfortable with their safety standards, but every treatment I've gotten here has been mediocre to bad. I went here initially for laser hair removal, and while it took very well to my bikini area, I still need to shave my legs once a week and my underarms twice a week. I also tried their lash lift. I was told it was the keratin method over the phone but when I got there the technician told me it was a perm. The curl was never as dramatic as I was hoping and it was completely gone the next day. They sent me home with a sheet telling me that could happen and that they don't give refunds, so I'm thinking it's a pretty common occurrence. I've never had that happen anywhere else, so I feel like I threw away $125. After this I think I'll be finding a different med spa to go to. read more

I'm hoping to update my review of Blue Water. I wrote my review two years ago, after what I still think was rather dismissive attitude decshoen me by the staff; however, in retrospect I wish I had simply rescheduled (for the second time, meaning it would have been a third scheduled appointment). No, I do t think it was professional or kind to tell me, after they switched the provider I had met with and scheduled with, that I was only one of 60,000 clients/patients. That was a real blunder on the part of the manager, to say that to me. From all I have read about Blue Water, the spa as well as the surgeon, they're good at what they do. Maybe with that comes a certain amount of arrogance, and maybe when a place is that busy, they will mess up your appointments. For quality work, maybe that's worth putting up with. I had the procedure done elsewhere, and I am now left with bad results. Had I waited until Blue Water could see me, even if that took rescheduling more than the three times I did, I suspect things would have gone better for me. Lisa recommenced a more conservative approach than what I got elsewhere. How I wish I had had it done that way. Instead, I've got permanent damage to my skin from another med spa in the area. So to sum it up, yes, I stil think they could have been more professional with me, and I still think telling me that I'm only one of 60,000 people they see in a year was a real blunder on their part. So let me preface by I hate yelp. As someone who has worked in the service industry all throughout school I can say that this platform gets abused by customers that assume an illusory divine manifestation of themselves, and yet here I am, the pot calling the kettle black. I digress, with as much as I hate yelp I got it just to review Blue Water Spa and Dr. Michael Law because of how tremendous everything happened and is continuing to happen as I am one week post-op. So here's the short version. Michael Law and the Blue Water Spa staff are phenomenal, empathetic, and just all around tremendous. I had bi-lateral gynecomastia surgery and every step of the process is clearly laid out, conducted professionally and excellently, and I couldn't be happier as I just got my bandages off today and have literally been periodically going to the bathroom, removing the compression garment just so I can stare at my chest. I CAN'T WAIT until summer and if you care to know why or are a man considering this procedure for yourself and are reading this, then this may help you out. Also, before I start, the whole staff is incredible, but I had the privilege of interacting mostly with Tracy, Angela, Debbie, and of course Michael Law and can say that is a plastic surgery dream team right there. You all are unbelievably tremendous as well as I would like to thank the entire surgical team. I can only remember specifically Jacqueline and I believe then Melissa was the one who helped me at the end but as the anesthesia was still wearing off I can't be certain. As well thank you Dr. Gordon (I believe) for being an amazing anesthesiologist (I know she's from a third party but just to show appreciation). Nevertheless, from those aforementioned to everyone in between that makes the whole system run, I thank you and can't express my gratitude enough. So here's my story for those who may benefit... I went in for bi-lateral gynecomastia surgery removal. This is a problem that has plagued me since I was 12 and I had tried everything under the sun to rid myself of it's burden, all in futility. For 10 year's I hid myself from the world and lived a life shut out from the rest of the world as I was unable to enjoy summers, beaches, pools, etc. I had an absolutely prepossessing girlfriend at the time (now ex) who lived down in Florida and when I visited her, I couldn't enjoy the beaches the way I should, I was to busy spent finding way's to hide my condition and this trend continued into the next relationship and it just killed me inside, so I decided to take action. I began looking around at different plastic surgeons before stumbling upon Dr. Law and the Blue Water Spa staff. Let me also note, my condition in a bit more detail. Due to my (I like to think) fit/athletic appearance, my condition was not apparent in colder conditions because of it's strictly glandular nature. What I am getting at is that when it is cold my areola's appeared normal looking, however, who goes to the beach when it's cold, or soaks up the sun in the snow, or wait's until winter to swim in the beach or pool. So why am I saying this? As I visited different plastic surgeons, they would ask me to take off my shirt and due to the nature of my condition and the cool rooms typically found at doctor's offices, my chest would appear normal. I needed time to let my chest acclimate to the temperature but different surgeons either made me feel misunderstood, rushed, or one surgeon actually told me I wasn't worth his time and I frantically tried to explain it to him that it is temperature sensitive, to which he proceeded ignore and showed me his surgical portfolio of cases (much more severe than mine) and explained to me how his time is better spent on cases such as these I continued to look around, found some promising, but nothing like what I felt when I met Dr. Law and the Blue Water Spa staff. After my first consultation I knew this was the place and Dr. Law was the man for the job. He took the time to sit with me, talk about it, and most importantly let my chest acclimate to the temperature before even discussing surgery. This really put me at ease because I knew he was able to see what I was talking about and therefore know what I wanted done. He then proceeded to go above expectations and diagram what the surgery would look like, made some drawing's on my chest of what would be cut and where and answered any question's I had before I ever asked them because of just how thorough he was. The empathy plus his confidence in how to give me the result's I was looking for and I walked out of there confident he was the one for the job. Fast-forward, and I couldn't be happier. I was extremely nervous before my visit. I was happy to be able to speak with someone other than the doctor prior to setting up the appointment with the doctor. I was reassured and given a better idea of my expectations versus reality. Many years ago I had a breast augmentation from a Dr in Washington State and nearly died from hemorrhaging and a near bleed out. I cant say enough how important it is to talk to as many people as possible prior to even seeing the doctor. I have had several services at the spa and am now looking forward to a major surgical procedure that I have confidence in and I will be in the best of hands. Don't be frustrated by a phone appointment; embrace it and be grateful that you have as many people as possible telling you the same thing! read more

Like like like! I highly recommend this spa to anyone needing some pampering. They have massage therapy, Botox, and all sorts of other treatments. The waiting room is super relaxing and will almost put you to sleep with the serenity of the tune and the splash of their fountains. If I worked there I'd probably have a hard time staying awake it is so relaxing to me. The staff are courteous and professional, all wear white lab coats and are pretty much just plain gorgeous. I have never met Dr. Law, but I hear he's a gem, too. I would have to say this spa is the best one in the entire Raleigh metropolitan area. read more
