For the most part the coffee tastes good, and I really enjoy their canned nitro cold brew to go. I also really like that they switched the bakery distributor from Macrina Bakery (nothing wrong with them, just tired of seeing their stuff at every other local coffeeshops) to Tacoma owned Three Hearts Bakery. Recco's: Pour over, Nitro cold brew if they have that on tap, and baked goods by Three Hearts Bakery Cons: Service is a hit or miss at this new location. Being on STW (that is short for South Tacoma Way), I think this location has huge potential for attracting non-locals compared to their 6th Ave location (already established local reputation with regulars), hopefully they staff up to create more flexibility because a lot of times they're backed up on orders especially early mornings due to several crowd rolling in from Howdy Bagel across the street, they're also a bit stoic when it comes to simple greetings. Cortado is one of my favorite coffee drinks but I will not order from this location, today I ordered it with almond milk (which, for cortado of less than 4oz, the portion of milk is not very much but I paid a kidney for it, its my fault) it was $6.07. The barista did provide a tip for next time if I'm looking for a more fuller 8oz drink, I can go for a Flat White. I visit both of their locations fairly regularly and do appreciate this STW location that is closer to me. Parking is on street and has never given any problem finding a spot nearby. Great offerings of seasonal coffee drinks, and I enjoy coming here very early before the crowd hits. read more

Wanted some good coffee this morning and hit up Bluebeard. They are a roaster but they sell their own coffee in the cafe. The coffee is great and the sweets make the experience whole. Service is excellent and helpful. Blue beard is one of my go to coffee places in Tacoma. As soon as you walk in the door and smell the aroma you know that this place serves up some great coffee. Most of the beans are sourced from Latin America and they offer some great single origin as well as blends of beans. The staff is always friendly. My favorite drink is the la Pistola, a Mexican style spicy mocha. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have two locations, but my favorite is the S. I think this place has a very good potential. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They roast coffee here, the smell is great, the environment is pleasing, and they have pour over options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Coffee is not cheap here, so don't expect to walk away with a small bill . The employees were not the friendliest, but we're also not hostile, so I'm OK with it. The coffee they sell is not bad, but the pour over was improperly made. For the roast type, I don't think they had the correct grind size or the extraction time, or maybe even the temperature. It's very harsh and not pleasing. I usually don't waste pour over coffee, but this one was very tempting to throw away. Overall, I think I won't get this place a few more tries and will probably continue buying their bags of coffee, but I would be weary about what you might experience read more

This Bluebeard Coffee location is the second to open in Tacoma. The original is on 6th Avenue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And while I like that location fine it's always very busy and sometimes even finding seating can be a challenge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parking isn't great either.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the second location doesn't necessarily have high marks for close parking either it does have a more spacious feel to it as it is not nearly as busy which is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not dead either, there are plenty of customers there too but it's not congested as much and finding a place to sit is not hard to do.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got a latte that was on their specials which I believe was called the Pistola. It had a spicy kick to it which was really nice and Steve and I split a slice of Raspberry Cake. It's great another coffee shop opened not far from our home to go and enjoy.
