Definitely a dive bar. There are some TVs and a pool table, but other than that, it's just a low-life bar. Let's put it this way, there was nearly a fight in the parking lot when I was there, and the cops had to be called to break it all up. They have the standard bar drinks. Maybe one craft beer, but nothing special there. And no food. The staff is nice enough, especially if you're a regular. If it's your first time in, then just be your friendly self and you'll be fine. This is by far the diviest dive bar in the area. You're kinda taking your life into your hands coming here (alright, not really true, but it can feel like it). Other bars in the area (along Madison Ave or up closer to the Green Line stop) are going to be a little nicer, friendlier and you're probably less likely to get hepatitis. read more

Solid dive-y bar with good prices. Came here to watch some March Madness with friends on St. Patrick's Day and it was packed. They always do a potluck-type thing for March Madness and although I got there too late to partake in most of the food, I could tell it was a great spread! Prices here for drinks are cheap (two beers and 6 shots was $25), and although the selection might be a bit limited compared to others, you're sure to find something you like. Service was a little slow, but I'll chalk that up to it being March Madness AND St. Patrick's Day and the place was packed. The bartender was super friendly, especially when my friend asked her to make a 'specialty' shot-she was game to give it a go. Oh, and although they have that 'cash-only' vibe, they do accept cards and have an ATM on site. Blueberry Hill is THE definition of a dive bar. It's a comfortable-but-basic neighborhood pub with everything you could ask for in a bar: good drink selection, attentive service (Kayleigh was great!), billiards, darts, and an internet jukebox with hundreds of awful choices. It really doesn't get any better than that. The downside which prevented me from giving Blueberry Hill a full 5-stars was the fact that despite the name being reminiscent of a pancake/waffle joint, this pub doesn't have a food menu. So if you find yourself in the forest park area with a handful of friends, Blueberry Hill is the place to go. It's a Cheers-style pub, with friendly staff and friendlier patrons. Friendly crowd, good prices. Not pretentious like many of the bars on Madison are trying to be. Karaoke Friday AND Saturday nights! Pool table, darts with a dart league, juke box. While there isn't a regular food menu, you can get a cheap pizza there. And they do often have food for events. There's a chili cook off and often a spread of food for big sporting events and such. My favorite dive bar ever. I drive here all the way from Wood Dale (near O'Hare) for Friday night karaoke! Joy is the best KJ :) and Matt a pretty darn good bartender too (despite his acidic sense of humor). Definitely ask for an apple pie shot with alcoholic whipped cream. This post is long overdue! We had so much fun hanging out here while visiting our son this past May. This place was pretty popular on a random Mon night. I would like to respond to the 2 star review by RBK. What the heck are you talking about? First off, this place has karaoke on Friday AND Saturday nights. Second, the bartender is by far the funniest stoner bartender of all time. He often times misunderstands what I ordered and its hilarious every time! Yes, Scratch is right down the street, but do you really want to go to a bar that has an owner whose brother smashed a beer bottle on my face at a party once because I was sticking up for my buddy's right to fart where ever and when ever he wants? You want a good, low key time, don't mind the locals and great people watching? Come here! The GF and I went on a Saturday night after dinner and we had a hoot. Karaoke started about 30 mins after 9pm and there was about 15 people in the bar hanging out as we listened to each other sing. If you come here with an open mind and don't mind exposed ceiling showing the ventilation system and a grimy bathroom, then hang out here for a few hours. They get a bonus star for asking if we wanted doubles for our drinks. Hell yeah. They also have a room in the back in case you wanna shoot pool. This place is the sister bar to Circle Inn. Extreme dive, and in a depressing way. I think the dive bar can be a really good experience, and I'm sure there are those that feel all warm and snuggly here. Not me. The nice thing about FP is that there are so many other bars to choose from and this one never strikes my fancy. Pool table, darts, and fine selection of cheap beers. They did a recent renovation and did manage to attract a slightly younger crowd, but the old man still rules the roost. It's a few steps south of the Madison strip so it's probably a good place to hide. As Ted O. mentioned, you can drink first thing in the morning if that's your thing. Karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights are great. Huge selection of tunes and Mike, the KJ is a cool guy. As for the drinks - stick with the beers. When Mike's brother, (the long-haired guy) is bartending, the mixed drinks are poured very weak. Lots of ice and little booze. The female bartenders of the past, poured good drinks. Was always hesitant to go into this bar. I am a huge fan of dives, but this one seemed just a little bit too shady for me. However, I went in there and it actually was a lot of fun. They had kareoke, and the bartender was pretty cool. I am pretty sure it is owned by the same family who runs shortstop lounge as well. Got nothing to lost by trying it out. read more

Came here and played darts and pool. A nice small bar in Forest park. The bartender was real friendly and she told me about other places owned by the owner. I guess there is another location in Fox lake with rooms above the bar. Not sure what she meant by that but i guess that place use to be a whore house she said later. This place is pretty cool! Totally laid back and don't have to fight a crowd. They need some food even if they give you a menu of a near by delivery place. i don't go to this 2 star dive bar nearly enough! friday/saturday night karaoke is tons of fun. the crowd is ok... though this is the closest bar in proximity to my house, i often walk right past it to go to Scratch, or any other bar on Madison street. compared to the other Forest Park Bars this spot lacks personality. it has no theme, no flare, nothing exciting. it is all and all a dive. if you walked into this place with a frown on your face, don't feel like talking to anyone, simply pointing to a the draft selection, you can definitely kill a solid hour here. Terrible, when watching the Blackhawks game they stopped it for karaoke and sent at least 15 of us to another bar to watch the end of the game. I have watched the past two Stanley Cup runs at this bar and will not be going to this bar when Matt is working there. He has no regard for anyone. Very racist bar. I came to this bar with two African American people and one biracial female. I ordered a drink at the bar. Before we could sit down the bartender told us that it was four people and the other three had to order something. Now let me say that me and my friends were already bar hopping and had already patronized several other bars in the area. Also, it was karaoke night. I politely asked if it was fine if we sat at a table at ;east and then maybe figure out what we want. He basically said we had to leave if we did not order right then and there. then I asked well we wanted to do karaoke and he basically said this is a bar and you have to buy something. But as I said we were not even in there for five minutes and this was our first time here we were trying to see if we even wanted to stay at the place. I will never go here again. Won't go back. First went there with friends at their recommendation. The place itself was okay, nothing special. It was a Thursday evening and the special that night was a brown theme. Any brown liquor pour was $3.25. My two friends and I ordered Bulleit on the rocks. When we went to pay our bill we were told $6.50 a drink because they were doubles. When we questioned it and said we hadn't ordered doubles the bartender said that pours on the rocks are automatically doubles and that if we were downtown we'd be paying three times that amount. Well, first, we weren't downtown. We were in a dive bar in Forest Park. Second, the $6.50 price would have been okay with us if we had been told that on the rocks were doubles when we ordered them. I wasn't expecting a spectacular experience, but neither was I expecting to be deceived. I'd rather give my business to an upright business. On a positive note, the crowd was friendly. read more

Hey, i was cut off and i did not think it was fair, i will say it was very early in the morning, but who cares. I stopped in on my way back from the train. So this works out because i have been up all night drinking and would like to continue, i think wow a bar thats a perfect place to drink. After my first drink the guy cuts me off, i think he didn't like the speed of the way i drank it, i mean i chugged this gin and tonic, but i did this because i have learned that by drinking fast you will get drunk faster and you can save some money by not ordering so many drinks. Well this bartender must have not liked the cut of my jib and says no more drinking for me. So now i'm sitting there like a damn sober duck, ducks dont drink. So i'm pissed off and now i want some damn Mac Donalds and this leads to further heart break as i remember they are only serving breakfast right now. I dont like Mac D's breakfast and now they have it all day!! I think they should do the other food all day and then everybody will be happy. Even if this loses them money they should still do it. I mean Mac D's makes enough money, just help me out Ronald. Ronald that rich fucking clown thinks he is better than me? Anyways Blueberrys is still a nice place, even though they really ruined my morning. So this is not a place to get drunk at 8 am but in the PM times i bet it would work out better.
