BEWARE! Michelle the 'bartender' should not work here or serve the public. I can no longer support a business that allows their staff to mistreat their customers and make false claims against them. The service here has gone downhill during two changes of ownership. My friends and I have stayed away from here due to rude staff, riff raff, fights, etc. in the last several years. We decided to give them a try a week ago as we were assured by another patron that it was under new ownership. The new owners supposedly cleaned house and removed all the previous troublesome staff. Everything seemed to have improved from our visit here a week ago, but that's because Michelle was not there. We had zero issues with the staff that day, we were served without issue, and overall we thought the renovations were an improvement. The prices have gone up but they have added premium beverages to their selection. Unfortunately, Michelle was not included in the staff overhaul, and mistreated my friend during a recent visit. It is a real shame that The Cordial Inn continues to have problem bartenders, because this place *used* to be a gem. It's now a far cry from cordial. The interior renovations are not worth it for any of us to tolerate disrespectful behavior from bar staff. I am beyond offended that the new owners allow the bar staff to treat customers badly. Came to this bar in Brookfield because it was convenient. It's right next to a gas station. The Cordial Inn is actually just a place to stay a bit, not for a long time. As in maybe an hour. You can get cheap drinks and free popcorn. Best prices for some good stuff among the places around here. It's about $5 for Jameson. That's impressive and no wonder this place is packed. It's also because there's not much room inside. The prices are even better as in being free for popcorn. Seems to be the only food besides cheeseburgers. There's also typical entertainment such as darts and slots. Have to say it's not bad for what it is, a very local dive bar. It's not as cheap as it used to be, but that's everything pretty much. Upon arriving at this bar, one would easily assume that it is indeed also a gas station. It is not. Instead, it is a very weirdly shaped long skinny bar that is built of cinder blocks, good times and broken dreams. It is your typical dive bar. They have karaoke, plenty of seating, a giant fish tank and from what I understand, some fantastic food. People rave about the burgers. The drinks are also well priced and a decent selection available for a gas station bar. The best part of this joint however are the incredible people that come here. By incredible I mean incredibly entertaining! This is a bit of catch all for the local population. As this is the closest 4am bar, everybody comes. Aside from our group of ten or so (mostly consisting of late-twenty-somethings), the rest of the bar was filled with a much older, much drunker crowd. There is nothing particularly clean or modern about this place. Let's just say those barstools have seen many-a-booty over the years. And the worn floors have played platform to hundreds of drunken shuffles, dances and paces to/from the bathroom. But all this adds to the character of this dive. During the day you have the regulars that have probably been going since forever. At night the crowd turns younger. This is a really nice local neighborhood bar. Back when we lived in the city, we used to go to Marge's on Sedgewick. This place reminds me a bit of it. The drinks are cheap, there's a jukebox and there are tvs. We didn't get a chance to sample any food there but we were mezmerized by the $5 steak sandwich written on the menu over the grill. BTW, don't ask for a menu, there is none. Just the menu over the grill. It was a diverse crowd in there, some young folk and some older people. Not a bad place to just hang.
