The surrounding region also has 2-3 restaurants, and the cottage is right near a lake. The stay was quite comfortable. The cottage size is large and easily accommodate at least 3 people. There is a queen size bed on first floor and two twins on second floor. Everything is very clean when we first moved in. The only improvement is to improve the Internet service. The wireless reception is poor, and it is not an ideal place to stay if you require Internet for work/personal reasons.

We stayed at Rosewood Country Inn while traveling through the area and unfortunately found the…read moreproperty poorly maintained and the overall experience uncomfortable. We were traveling with our two children and chose the inn because it appeared to be a traditional New England property in a convenient location. Condition of the Property: The building and interiors appear not to have been updated in decades. Much of the furniture, fixtures, and decor looked extremely worn and outdated. Rather than feeling historic or charming, the property felt neglected. Cleanliness: Several areas of the inn appeared poorly maintained and not particularly clean, which made it difficult to relax in the room or common areas. Management Interaction: Our interaction with the manager, Stan, was uncomfortable. He came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the stay feel even more awkward. Overall Atmosphere: The general condition of the building was unsettling enough that our children were actually frightened and asked if we could leave and stay somewhere else. While the location could be appealing, the property seems to need significant updates, improved upkeep, and a more welcoming approach to guests.

I could truely go on and on, but actually I suggest you get your butt to this place and enjoy a long weekend with our without a special event. (note they do weddings here so it books up!). Just go. Go for the breakfasts, go for the dinners, go and ask Stan for some house-smoked meats! Seriously, these people are amazing, the space is special, and the complete quiet (and darkness at night) are a wonderful relief. Note: Cell signal is poor at best. Wifi is available, but really...don't do it, unplug for a few days.

Breakfast was do-it-yourself based on contents of the fridge, breakfast bar and keurig coffee maker (not deluxe, but adequate). Room was large (and AC was working fine) but decor was random and impersonal. King-sized bed was very comfortable and tiled shower bathroom was clean and functional. Note that the Inn is FOR SALE (last 500 days), so this may explain lack of attention to anything more than basic accommodation. I was unable to speak to anyone in management about having a late checkin -- they only respond to email (not phone) and not promptly and not on my first attempt. This was very odd. For the price ($281, with taxes), I think it should have been a lot nicer. Town is very quiet (actually pretty dead) and many businesses appear shuttered. There is however, a lovely park at the end of the property (after the tree swing) called Paradise Park. This made for a nice walk in the morning. I was glad we discovered this on our own as the innkeepers were non-existent. Pleasant enough, but .... not exactly what I was hoping for at this price.

This Inn is nestled in on a quaint little street. We had dinner down the road which was perfect. The continental breakfast at the Inn was fabulous, I had hard boiled eggs and an english muffin with good coffee. There was an assortment of breads and muffins, oatmeal, waffles, fruit, etc. And the chocolate chip cookies are a delicious bonus!

Upon arrival, the Inn keeper was warm, friendly and knowledgeable and was quick to provide us with snow shoes and poles. The trails on the property range from easy ( just my pace) to advanced ... and yes there is a black diamond trail for those of you who know how to handle it!! The equipment was well kept and the property was well maintained. Beyond the absolutely wonderful snowshoeing experience, was the Inn. We visited in mid-March and this was the coziest, warm and welcoming Inn we had experienced in a while. They have quite a few amenities including and outdoor fireplace and hot tub! They have a warm and inviting common room with tables, fireplace, community refrigerator and glasses for any of your beverages you may bring ( they are BYOB). The rooms are cozy and inviting - we were in a recently upgraded decorated room with modern designs, textures and colors. Our room had big beautiful windows that spilled delightful sunshine into every nook and corner. Honestly I could have stayed in the room all day if it weren't for the adventures waiting outside. The bed was like a big warm hug that I simply did not want to get out of in the morning! The breakfast starts at 7am and is served buffet style. It's is a wonderful diverse selection of home cooked items such as pancakes, eggs, breakfast meat, and delicious fresh fruit. The coffee is A+ which is always a must in my book. The cost of our stay did not break our bank and we definitely will be back!

The opportunity to celebrate with family and friends while staying together at the Inn made the weekend unforgettable. Innkeepers Maria and Paul, along with General Manager Beth, and all the staff went above and beyond our expectations. They truly make their guests feel like family. We stayed for Valentine's weekend (3 nights), and it was like being welcomed into someone's mansion. The place is beautiful even in the winter snow. The accommodations are like stepping back in time, but with some modern amenities as well. The bed was a four poster antique replica with the most dreamy mattress. The in-room electric fireplace was nice within our spacious room (junior suite). Having Andy greet us every morning at breakfast was lovely, and the plated meal was delicious. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine and some food in the pub. An added bonus was entertainment one night by a talented duo. Recommendations for outside the Inn dining was provided by Andy along with some "must see things" as well. It was very nice "stepping into the historic past" at this beautiful Inn. A slow pace and a relaxing wood fire in the lobby was just what our weekend called for. We're planning to go back in warmer weather to see the grounds in all their glory and experience what other seasons have for visitors.
