Among other bacteria he got here was Strep B, commonly found on unwashed hands and unsanitary hospital equipment. Disgusting. How the hell did he get that bacteria at your hospital? Nobody cared to even ask. It was just blatant deflection of blame and zero accountability. Read the reviews of this shady criminal company on BBB. They charge exorbitant prices and then send admins, not vets, to pretend to speak to you about nearly killing your dog. They absolutely do not care abt patients or pet parents. We were referred to BP for a neuro consult for our 12 y/o pup, Nunu. From walking in to the end of the visit, every staff member was friendly and so welcoming. Took my 11.5 year old in due to mobility issues and not eating. After $1500.00 in the ER I'm told she needs to see ortho for a possible torn tendon. Scheduled that. Was told it was $179.00 and to have her fast,etc. in preparation for the appointment. Went to the appointment and was charged $300.00. They said oh, $179.00 is for a tech visit not veterinarian. Cool, I emailed and they apologized for their mistake and refunded the difference. They wanted to schedule yet another visit for an ultrasound estimated at another $850-1600.00. Still after that appointment she would not have any relief. Decided to go to Points East in Wilson. Paid $160.00, saw the surgeon same day. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. Such a wonderful group of people here!! McKinley is the sweetest and has such a wonderful, positive energy that I felt even through the phone. He greeted us the second we walked in and had an exam room ready for us right away. Our nurse, Erin, immediately took my pup back to check his vitals. Dr. Baxter came to meet us shortly after and I really appreciated that he took his time talking to me about my dog's symptoms. He outlined a treatment plan and was happy to answer all my questions to put me at ease before treating my dog. Thankfully, my pup was fine and able to be discharged after a couple hours. I'm really grateful to the entire staff for helping my sweet boy Moose in his time of need!! We were referred to Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital on Tryon Road by our primary Veterinarian on 11/29/2025. We took our beloved Sadie there hoping that they would fix a bleeding wound. Our vet had already forwarded a referral for surgery to Blue Pearl. Upon arrival we were greeted by a front desk that was unsympathetic to our needs as well as my Pets needs. They stuck us in a room and left us there for over 4 hours with a pet with a bleeding wound. I asked the front desk a couple of times to get water for my dog. Nobody ever acknowledged my request. When a staff member came to the room, they offered to wrap the wound for a charge and told us that they would do nothing that day and to come back for a surgery consultation. I understand that it was a weekend and they were busy, however some compassion could have been shown and empathy for the pet and owners. After being charged for an evaluation, no action was taken to help my dog. We were just told to come back for a surgery consultation. I would never recommend this place to a friend or family member who cared about their pet. read more

TLDR: Bluepearl continues to be an excellent location for canine oncology treatments. Dr. Ruslander, Sarah, Nicole, the radiation team, and the front desk staff are phenomenal. They communicate well, are accommodating, and adore my dog Zeus. Started to slack on my check-ins, but we have visited Bluepearl numerous times this year for treatment and check-ups. We continue to receive 5-star service and highly recommend this speciality animal hospital to other pet owners. Nearly everyone I mention BluePearl to raves about them whether through personal experience or word of mouth. They are definitely right since we have always received great care here. The front desk staff are enthusiastic and passionate. They greet us upon arrival, recognize Zeus, and even get up to greet him with attention and pets. Even through all the radiation and immunotherapy treatments and scans, Zeus loves to come here. He is so excited when we pull into the parking lot and runs inside to see everyone. He doesn't even want to wait in the waiting room. He pulls on the leash to go straight to the back, even though he knows Sarah will get him soon. Sarah, Dr. Ruslander's vet tech, is his favorite. He adores her and she spoils him with so much love, attention, and treats. She even sends me text updates and pictures. Since she knows I am usually at work, she will text me in advance when Dr. Ruslander is about to call me. That way I can make sure I am in a quiet location ready for his call. Dr. Ruslander continues to provide excellent patient-centered care. He is always professional, understanding, and knowledgable. He provides us with all the details and recommendations we need and answers all of our questions. He never makes us feel rushed to make a decision and ensures we understand what he says and that we have the final decision for everything. I appreciate how they start with fewer treatments/scans/meds first and then add more if needed. For instance, they don't sedate Zeus unless needed for chest x-rays and oral exams. This saves us money, time, and is easier on Zeus. Still expect a high bill. Veterinary care in Cary is expensive. I definitely recommend getting pet insurance to help with the cost. Zeus is now in his recovery period and is doing well! The tumor shrunk and he is taking pain meds and antibiotics. Overall, we continue to have positive experiences here and recommend this hospital to others! read more

I live about an hour away from the Cary location. I was told my cat Loki needed a CT scan to check a mass in his throat. he was in distress and was having issues breathing. I took my special boy to them on Sunday night. they put him in a breathing chamber. I called at midnight to check on him. I was so worried. the staff took time to tell me how he was doing and what the next steps were. I received text messages from Nurse Jenny and Nurse McKinley. They were so helpful in answering my questions and sending me pictures of my special boy On the day he was supposed to get his CT scan he took a turn for the worse. I was told by Dr Skiles that the CT scan and biopsy, would show what's the mass was but the treatment would be so bad either way. She informed me that they could do the procedure if I had to know what it was After looking at my baby boy who was now on pain meds to keep him calm and nausea medicine because he was drooling so much because he couldn't swallow. I decided that I didn't want to put him through all that just to ease my mind Nurse Jenny and Dr Sklies told me to take as much time as I needed to say goodbye to my little boy. They took me to a private room and let me have time with him Dr Skiles and Nurse Jenny were with me and Loki when he passed. They both were so kind and loving to me and Loki. Nurse Jenny was beside me and was comforting me thought the entire procedure I can't say thanks enough to Nurses, Doctors Staff for helping me through one of the worst times in my life. I normally don't take the time to write reviews but I felt I needed to share my families experience with BluePearl Cary. We were referred there by our local vet in Sanford for Beo, a mix breed we got from saving grace 10yrs before. Beo developed a mass or swelling beside his right eye and snout. After some testing it was determined to be "Frontal Sinus Mass - carcinoma" by Dr. Ruslander. He provided us with honest expectations of treatments and quality of life expectancy after. Dr. Ruslander was upfront about the cost and to not feel guilty if we didn't go with the much more expensive radiation and chemo treatments. He explained that there was no cure and cancer would eventually take our wonderful dog's life sooner or later. We were given the possibility of 12 to 18 more months for Beo. We decide to go with the radiation and chemo and I am so glad we did. Though my heart is broken at this moment, Beo passed just before Thanksgiving 2024, Dr. Ruslander and the oncology staff provided Beo with 16 more quality months of life. i chose to use this facility because my primary vet was closed. I had previously used the Cary location for one of my pets and had a good experience so I used the location on Capital blvd this time. i took my cat in and after three hours we left once the vet decided to have bloodwork sent off for extensive texting. The vet was nice and stated it would likely come back that my cat was diabetic and the next evening it did. I went to the location to pick up the prescription for the insulin and the tech upon demonstrating how to use the needles and how to draw the insulin she completely told me inaccurate information. A tech should be well qualified in using needles and measuring insulin and she was not. This could cause significant harm to the pet even cause death. My pet was already ill and needed insulin and he was getting none with how she instructed me to draw the insulin in the needle. my primary vet was out of town so I made arrangements to see a different vet just by chance within a few days of this visit and I'm glad I did. I demonstrated what the tech showed me and the vet said that was not accurate. I went to Blue Pearl today to express my concerns about their te ricin and express they need training but I do not feel that my concerns were taken seriously and I would not visit this location again. Diabetic pets are becoming more common now and if you are not familiar with how to use needles and insulin you rely on professionals to assist you. I hope Blue Pearl gets their staff the training they need. read more

I just want to say thank you to bluepearl. My dog ate something gross, was sick while I was out of town, so once I picked him up and he was still sick at home I called to see if they thought I should come in or wait to see my vet in the morning. The lovely person that I spoke to validated my concerns and we decided to make an appointment that night. She walked me through what that would look like and established a timetable for us. We were there two hours less than I anticipated and Rusty was seen really quickly. The ER vet was super sweet and made sure we were doing ok. Having recently had to put our cat to sleep, we were kind of a mess, so I genuinely appreciated the extra compassion. After an hour or so, Rusty was given a clean bill of health, a fluid packet and discharge instructions that were easy to follow. Everything after that went smoothly as well, our pet insurance reimbursed almost the full visit, and our normal vet followed up with us the next day. So, while I hope to never come back, I know I'd be in good hands if I had to. read more

Brought my kitten in, it was listless and hurting. We only had it for a week, so it may have been sick when we got it. They estimated $5,000-$6,000 for 6-9 days of ICU. They ended up charging me $3200 for 10 hours of treatment/ICU and then gave me back my dead kitten. Hearing them say "I'm sorry for your loss" every other sentence wasn't helpful. Pay attention to the low-rated reviews. I understand that the practice was different before being purchased by Blue Pearl Pet Hospital, an organization based in Florida. I wouldn't know. The support staff was very kind and I understand that these are medical professionals on the front lines of healthcare for our companion animals. I treated all with respect and compassion, but did not feel it was returned. I was shocked that I was expect to turn my dog over to the tech to take back to a doctor I had not seen, met, or spoken with. I wouldn't let my daughter go with a nurse to be examined by a doctor I'd never seen. I balked but was told the doctor would not come out first. The was their policy. The shock of it and the circumstances led to my agreement. The tech promised it would not take long, just 10-15 minutes. After 20 minutes I went to the front desk to ask and was told just 5 more, "almost done." After 10 more, I went back to the front desk and said, "now." I want my dog now. After a few moments, the vet nonchalantly came in with my dog. He outlined a list of test that could be done to gather more information. I agreed to one, but I was told I'd have to leave my dog because others were waiting. That wasn't going to happen. I left without knowing much more than I knew when I arrived. The visit summary did not cover much of what was discussed and was not corrected when I asked. It was useless except knowing the name and cost of a lot of tests. Thankfully, I was able to return home from my visit to Durham, where I could place my dog in the care of his regular veterianian. None of those tests were required, and he is well. read more

Unless you like being gaslit, lied to, and ripped off while your dog is suffering, find another hospital. A year ago our giant great pyrenees boy hurt his CCL. We had a surgical consult at Blue Pearl Cary and discovered it was a 'partial' tear - he could still walk, it was just stiff and sometimes he limped. We paid for the consult + sedation/x ray, and were told we could put down a $500 deposit towards the total of the surgery to get put on the waiting list, as they were pretty booked up. That seemed ok. We called Blue Pearl a couple of months later, were told we were still on the list, they were just working through the backlog. Then, we heard nothing. Last Thursday my dog was jumping and screeched in pain, and wouldn't put weight on his back leg. He'd fully torn the CCL. We got him to a referral hospital where they confirmed the CCL tear and told us they were surgery booked for at least a month. I figured, ok, we already put a deposit at Blue Pearl, we've been on the list for a year and now this is URGENT. We call BP and after explaining who we are, they finally find our file. We are put on hold for an hour. They come back with some wishy washy "our notes say you would call in to schedule surgery, but call on Tuesday after the holiday and speak to your surgeon." That's not how waitlists work, and we DID call. Tuesday we try to speak to the surgeon, and talk to the surgeon coordinator. We are told we can get in for a consult - another consult, since it's been over a year - on June 12th. Two weeks out. I asked what happened with the waitlist to be told 1. The person who managed the waitlist was gone and the waitlist had been worked through (congrats?) and 2. that when they took people off the waitlist, they called MULTIPLE TIMES. But sometimes, people don't answer the phone! Or return voicemail! I was baffled. I told her she reached me on my cell phone, the same one on file, and it has history of every time BP called me?? I absolutely was not contacted at all about this, let alone multiple times. The surgeon coordinator, Cass, said "I'm not saying that's what happened in this case, just saying sometimes people don't return calls..." What the hell does that have to do with anything, if you aren't saying that's what happened? Ok, fine, if you can't help my dog, who CANNOT WALK, in a reasonable time frame, return my $500 deposit. Cass told me it wasn't a deposit, it was all to pay for services rendered! You know, the sedation and xray? We payed $1100 to them the day of that surgical consult. Nevermind that I have payed for this dog to be sedated and xrayed multiple times at multiple clinics in the last couple years, and each time was $500-600. We stood there and listened to a BP employee tell us we were paying a $500 deposit towards surgery, and now the surgeon coordinator is telling me 'that's not how we do it'. That's crazy but even then I still would have payed BP for the surgery! I just can't make my dog go a month or more like this. He can't use one of his legs, and he's 180lbs so it takes two people to help him do his business, and I hate to see him suffering. I said "how can you help my dog?" and she said "I'm trying to help you understand how we bill TPLO surgery." - describes their priorities perfectly. She did not offer any concrete help or even an apology for BP dropping the ball on this. If they had not let us slip through the cracks a year ago, my dog would not be in this position. No one has offered to get us a quicker appointment. No one has offered to waive the fees for another consult if we did accept that timing. No one has even offered to show me the itemized bill they must have on file. Not only have they not offered a refund, they have basically accused me of lying. Cass said she would have her supervisor call me. That was yesterday afternoon. I have certainly not received a call from Julie, the Practice Manager, as I was promised. Not surprising. I am absolutely appalled at the way Blue Pearl does business, and I hope no one else has to go through this while trying to get urgent help for a hurt pet. read more

Found out from our vet that he has cancer, and was told to bring him there to the oncologist got a regimen for him, we have been going for several weeks and now cancer is in remission, but still getting treatments we are happy we got to it early, he will be 5 years old in December, so he will be able to have a little bit more time with us, techs here are great they love him he loves them, the doctor we have is great and very friendly and thoughtful and thorough with us telling us how he is doing and feeling we are so happy and grateful we were told to come here. This place is an absolute nightmare! If I could do a negative review I would. It doesn't even deserve a 1. This place is a disgrace. I have so many issues it would blow your mind. To start our dog had surgery and had to get his leg removed with hopes that it would take care of the cancer. We were told no promises but recommended he would be better off for a long future. The problems started as soon as we went to pick up our dog after surgery. 1. Never explained discharge paperwork after an amputation 2. Discovered a heart murmur in our dog and never disclosed this till we read the post op paperwork for ourselves *(medical malpractice)* 3. Gave us the bill/invoice of almost double our agreed upon estimate for surgery. Then tried to explain extra charges and kept giving us different bills (5 different invoices) if not more... 4. Had a biopsy done and were told that they couldn't read it and give us a correct diagnosis. Just that it's cancer. 5. Never sent any pre op information to our primary care vet. 6 Never had any useful over the phone. Just were told that we're sorry for any inconvenience. (Doctor Wells was helpful to explain the heart murmur and didn't have any problems with him) 7. Were told countless lies and never called back with a set time/appointment. 8. After dealing with all this they then sent another invoice 5 months later for a different amount. I told them I would never set foot or recommend anyone bring their animal there. BLUE PEARL IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE OF A HOSPITAL! Please do not bring your animal there. Oh ps. My dog didn't make is past 6 months after the surgery, the cancer came back and completely took over. I know there's no promises when it comes to surgery but after taking to our primary vet we were told that the cancer was very severe and he didn't have the best outcome, hindsight being 20/20. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Blue Pearl Pet Hospital. Our very sick poodle, Soleil, was treated compassionately by the staff and the follow up during the course of her illness, so important, was terrific. The veterinarians were knowledgeable, caring and available to talk with for any questions we had. While, so sadly, she ultimately was euthanized (having a horrible illness), at least she was able to have 2 symptom free weeks, thanks to the correct diagnosis and appropriate medications. The veterinarian who euthanized her did it so kindly and with great sensitivity to our feelings, making an agonizing decision a little easier for us. I've been a professional in the dog world for over 30 years, have used many veterinary emergency hospitals both in my personal and professional capacity, and think this is one of the best! read more

A waste of all your money. Unfortunately our experience at BluePearl started off pleasant and ended up awful, we arrived at the facility around 1pm on Sunday for a pet emergency, after 2 hours we were brought back to a room and given a diagnosis, we proceeded with the care plan of our choice and was told it would be another 1-2 hours, after 3 hours we were told that the team was changing shifts and it would be another 1-2 hours, after another 2 hours we were told that he would need to stay longer and that he wouldn't be ready until 1pm in the morning and would we like to come back and get him or pay the overnight fee($200+) now I see this was all apart of a bigger plan. Once we picked him up the next day of course we were told to take him to his primary care doctor which we did. After their evaluation which was only 2 days later they concluded that the splint provided by BluePearl was too small, that the Fentanyl patch was not put on correctly and that the cone that he was given was also to small- mind you the total bill was well over $1200. We called BluePearl and requested a partial refund for the inaccuarcy of the splint and incorrect placing of the patch and incorrect fitting of the cone, they denied our request and we have now had to pay another Vet bill to correct their faults. The receptionist was nice but Carrie W. was not pleasant to work with and showed no sympathy or understanding towards the clear fault of the clinic. read more

Based on my experience, this is the LAST place I will take my dogs. My 12 year old pittie was in their care for vomiting, diarrhea and a 105.5 fever. It appeared to you she had an enlarged spleen. NO treatment was started in an hour of her arrival. I was told this was because 1. She was "stable" and 2. they needed approval. OK, well, you ran out for me to sign the CPR form if needed, so why couldn't you run out for that? Oh wait she was "stable." Hmmm, so if she was stable... why was the recommendation possible euthanasia and definitely hospitalization, BUT nothing done in an hour of care? Why was I made to feel like a horrible dog mom for saying no to hospitalization, opting for a conservative approach first, to include 1.Flagyl for her diarrhea (which you refused to give) 2. fluids under skin and 3. Anti nausea, in the event, she had a bacteria infection? While she does have cancer which is underlying, it IS POSSIBLE she had a bacteria infection separate from the cancer, but that wasn't even considered. YOU ALMOST HAD ME CONVINCED TO LET HER GO THAT NIGHT. 24 HOURS LATER, HER SYMPTOMS OF FEVER, DIARRHEA, AND VOMITING WERE GONE!!!!!! THANK GOD I KNEW ENOUGH TO ASK FOR FLUIDS UNDER THE SKIN, ANTI NAUSEA MEDICINE, AND I HAD EXTRA FLAGYL AT HOME SINCE YOU REFUSED TO DISPURSE. 2 weeks later, and YES we are on borrowed time due to her cancer, BUT we are symptom free and have been to the beach for quality time. Shame on you! Like many others have said, not only are the vet techs and vets rude, you only care about what un-necessary procedures and costs you can gauge us with! read more

I called the number and was told that the emergency hospital was only for nighttime hours. They recommended me to take him to another emergency hospital. The 2 stars are for the doctor who appeared to care about my pet, however, after reading many other reviews, I'm hoping that she was truthful in her diagnoses, or really lack there of. If I could give 0 stars to the office staff I would. I arrived for my appointment at 1:30pm (after being referred by Banfield....STAY AWAY) Saw the medical team at around 1:45pm. Stayed to wait after being led to believe that it would only be 2-3 hours. Luckily I had my Stephen King book to keep me company. At around 5:30, the doctor come out and tells me nothing is on the ultrasound and that they are, just now, going to do labs. Fast forward 3.5 hours, later labs performed, results basically normal. My issue is that I spent 7 hours and $800 here. At some point, would it have been too much for someone to come out around 3 - 4:30 and tell that they were running behind so that if I had some things I need to get done I could have done so. It must have been. The the office staff is cold, uncaring, and sarcastic about the fact that I've spent 7 hours in there with minimal communication. It was very inconsiderate of my time, my mother's time who assisted me with child care, and my children's time. Don't waste your time here. It is unfortunate that finding a good vet is becoming so difficult. Most of them seem to want charge you for everything (at times, unnecessary) under the sun. read more

FINAL UPDATE: The supervisor asked us to come in and speak with her and listened to the issues we had. They apologized and did credit us for a portion of the bill. They are putting measures in place to ensure better discharge protocols are developed. We have had multiple experiences with VSH providing a poor level of care to our German Shepherd. Besides the obvious price gouging and predatory billing practices (which honestly, I don't mind paying money to make sure that my dog gets the best possible care), this place has gone downhill very quickly. Odin was seen to confirm he did not have early development of hip issues as a 4 month old puppy, and at that time we felt the doctors were caring and helpful, knowledgeable and took their time to listen. After a serious surgery due to intestinal intussusception at 6 months old, he came home with incorrect dosing of pain and sedation medication, which led to him being under medicated and in pain and overly active. When we addressed the issue with VSH, their excuse was that the tech that filled the prescription "was no longer employed there." No further apology or explanation. I get it...people make mistakes. I work in the pharmacy industry--but for an animal that just went through a serious surgery where 8 inches of intestine was removed, maybe their meds should be double checked? But what pushed me over the edge is what happened today. We picked up Odin after he was hospitalized due to fecal impaction. He had recently been neutered, so he had a cone. The cone had not been removed in the entire time he was there--48 hours. We could tell because his hair around his neck was horribly matted. He smelled horrible. As soon as he got outside, he ran to pee and went for several minutes--they hadn't taken him out in hours. His entire back end was covered in feces that they made no effort to clean up. Not acceptable when we paid $3500 for a 48 hour hospitalization. It gets better. We called to let them know what happened--they told us to call back Monday (it's Saturday) when their supervisor is working and that they would make a note after we stayed on hold for 20 minutes. No apology, nothing. UPDATE: Still haven't heard back from anyone, 4 days later. Total joke. When you call to ask to speak with someone they put you on hold forever and then just make excuses. Really concerning that they are handling animals in need of emergency care. read more

Had a very bad experience bringing my cat in for emergency care. Strongly advise pet owners to take their animals elsewhere. The front end staff is rude, inconsiderate, and lies. I wound up taking my animal home rather than leave him there to be seen and I am so glad I did after reading these reviews. read more

I would give zero stars if that was an option. If your regular vet can't diagnose and treat your pet-these people definitely can't. I have never received a diagnosis over multiple visits. Their computer system apparently lost all previous patient information. Had to repeatedly state history and current problem. Waited over 2 hours for a basic assessment-no labs or x-rays...just an assessment. Then another 2 for BLOOD WORK. Communication at the front desk is absolutely terrible. Had to call multiple times and restate that I was waiting...for over 40 minutes...for meds to brought to the car. Ended up waiting an hour for just meds. read more

Our Pitbull went in early in the morning because he ended up swallowing a squeaker from a dog toy. After 8 hours of waiting to hear from them with an update we finally called them, they didn't even look at our Pitbull. They finally got to him around 9 hours of him being there, they got the squeaker out, but our poor dog came home with 2 hotspots (from him licking spots of his body due to high stress and anxiety). He also returned with no collar!!! Me and my family are very upset with the situation. read more

My husband and I were traveling in our motor coach when Diana, my 9-year-old female Bombay cat became sick. Fortunately, we were near a pet hospital on Purdue university property in Indiana where Diana was stabilized enabling us to return her to her primary care veterinarian. Diana's primary care veterinarian reviewed the hospital reports, completed an examination and additional tests, then determined an ultrasound was needed for further diagnosis. Since the primary care office does not have ultrasound capability, Diana was referred to BluePearl for the ultrasound and specialist perspective. Once the ultrasound and examination by the specialist were complete, we asked for a care conference comprised of the specialist, the primary care veterinarian, and us. BluePearl refused. BluePearl would send the test results to the primary care; however, there would not be a team effort. Our choice was to be a BluePearl customer or not. We met with the BluePearl veterinarian and asked questions until we understood all he said regarding the surgery he recommended. Surgery would be exploratory to investigate an inflamed and possibly infected bile duct to determine if the cause was cancer and what corrective procedures may be appropriate. We asked about an investigative procedure the primary care veterinarian had considered, a needle biopsy. We suggested guiding by ultrasound. The BluePearl veterinarian dismissed the approach. Concurrently, he emphasized the surgery he wanted us to authorize was not to resolve a known condition. He made sure we understood the surgery had a less then twenty-five percent probability to save Diana's life. He also made sure we understood, either authorize surgery for ten thousand dollars followed by a possible minimal five thousand aftercare, or take our cat from BluePearl. After our prolonged "near begging", the BluePearl veterinarian agreed to 24 to 48 hours of IV medication requiring hospitalization. Diana's primary care veterinarian suggested an additional 24 hours of in hospital monitoring after removal from IV medication because it is good medical care practice; care the primary care office could not provide because it is a small practice and not staffed for after hour care or emergencies. The BluePearl veterinarian refused and released Diana. BluePearl provided six Rx medications and a written prescription when Diana was released to us. Many hours after we had returned Diana home, we received a phone call from a compounding pharmacy affiliated with BluePearl. They had an eighth prescription from BluePearl. While seeking clarification of the nature of the prescription, it became evident the location of the pharmacy selected by BluePearl was over an hour from our home. BluePearl had never asked us about a compounding pharmacy of our choice. It is understandable that many patrons of BluePearl may not understand the nature of a compounding pharmacy; however, I clearly made my status of Dr. Burkhart repeatedly known to each BluePearl employee. I had the BluePearl pharmacy transfer the Rx to my local compounding pharmacy. When we left BluePearl with Diana, the technician provided extensive outpatient instructions including instructions to call for Rx refills when needed. Today, we phoned BluePearl for Rx refills and were told the veterinarian had left written instructions to deny our request and to refer us to the primary care veterinarian. I reminded BluePearl of the fact Diana's primary care office is too small for after hour and weekend response. I asked to speak with a BluePearl vet. My request was denied. Every step of our BluePearl experience exposed a primary issue of financial profit rather than care. There was no regard or professional perspective of the primary care veterinarian who knows the pet and the pet's family. BluePearl veterinarians have no bed-side manner and corporate policy appears to ignore respect for the customer. What an outstanding experience with everyone (front office, tech and vets) involved! We have a 24/7 vet hospital nearer to us but have had poor experiences there so don't mind the extra distance. We were grateful when our local vet referred us here, especially after learning from another family member who'd had an outstanding experience. The tech/nurse, Tyler, was so knowledgeable, friendly and even used humor in an appropriate way to lighten up the situation. The vet, Dr. Leigh, spent so much time with my 91 yo mother explaining details, going over the only viable option of emergency surgery, and patiently answering our questions. She spoke in a kind, unhurried, caring manner with respect and warmth. Mom's mixed breed dog Toby had the surgery rather than the unsavory option of euthanasia, and Mom was so happy to have him home only 2 days later. The communication from the surgeon and staff from arrival to discharge made it easy for her to then care for Toby herself, a big concern she had as she lives alone. He is thriving, (wanting to walk more than she feels he's ready for) and getting back to his normal self much quicker than she expected. It was expensive, but for the quality of care and the peace of mind as well as joy of keeping her family member alive...well worth it. I recommend Blue Pearl's Cary location with zero reservations. So happy to know about them in the event my 2 dogs and 2 cats need emergency vet care. Kudos and major gratitude from our family. read more
