Great lesson from Coach Nghiep and the atmosphere/set up was awesome! Good experience overall.

Yes, it's a gym.... Yes it has new equipment but it feels run down for 2 big reasons…read more 1.) for the last year I have been paying extra for the add on of the recovery room, in which Chuze shows commercials all the time advertising HYDRO THERAPY. These machines are great, very popular and everyone who pays extra wants this item and this item only. Nothing else..... nobody wants to wrap their legs in gigantic compression boots.... But yet they have 4 of these machines. They never break because nobody uses them. Everyone pays for the hydro therapy but yet they only have 2 of them and 1 is always broken.... The reason, is because this is all people want out of the recovery room. But yet 1 of the Hydro machines is always broken, never fixed . instead of using membership fees to buy a new one they rely on a repair man who never shows up, and when he does, only has it fixed for a day. What's the point of having a recovery studio if the only thing people want, (HYDRO THERAPY) is never available? 2.) everyone likes to use the stair masters. It's popular now, nobody really uses elliptical's, except older people who can't be hard on their bodies. So what does Chuze do???? They have 17 ellipticals which only ever 3 are being used and 6 stair masters of which one is always broken and all 5 are always in use. A manager with his finger on the pulse of his building should see this, and rotate out unused equipment and replacing it with what's needed more of,..... like the stair masters there's always a wait for.... For months now. This should be the nicest gym out there.... That's why I joined. They are busy with members.... where is all the money going?

I WISH I could give more stars, I really do, because the staff is very polite, friendly, and…read moreattentive and the gym itself is clean and the equipment (aside from the "out of order" machines) is new and in good shape. But there's just too many annoying issues for me to give a fully positive rating/review. I chose Chuze over other gyms because of their "Recovery Room" - SPECIFICALLY, the hydro massage chairs. They're fantastic. But at this location, one out of the two chairs that they have is ALWAYS BROKEN. I'm not exaggerating when I say "ALWAYS." Even when they DO decide to fix it (several MONTHS after it breaks down), it will work for a few days then break down again and then we go back to waiting months for it to be repaired. So there's only ONE chair ever in working order so I never use it because I come to the gym with my boyfriend and we want to be able to BOTH use the hydro chair after our workout and that's not possible. Ever. The equipment, like I said, is decent, but when a machine DOES break down, it takes FOREVER to get it fixed. They put these cutsey signs on the broken equipment saying it "pulled a hammy" and will be back up super-duper fast! Nope. There's a stationary bike that had been down for MONTHS and still has that dumb sign on it. Last thing I want to mention that I find SUPER obnoxious (and I KNOW for a fact other people do as well) is their "We're closing in x number of minutes" warnings. In the last hour, they do the warning announcements every 15 minutes. Is that seriously necessary??? No. And the announcements are done through their PA system and they're LOUD and before every announcement, they TAP the microphone several times (like a "testing, testing" thing?) and it's just loud and abrasive and irritating as all get-out. Mixing the negatives in with their good points just results in a very overall "meh" gym.

Plus, they have four hydro massage chairs, which is four times more than what my local gym (Fountain Valley) has. It's a spacious gym with lots of machines and great equipment. Francis is an amazing HIIT instructor, which is why many Fountain Valley members are making the trip to Garden Grove. I've been to his morning HIIT classes a few times and have been very happy with his workouts. His classes are always fresh, challenging, and a blast. Francis also makes an effort to get to know each member and remembers everyone's names, even though they're coming from different gyms. He's super friendly, encouraging, and helps us exercise correctly. This gym consistently offers a great number of morning classes for its members, which is something my local gym doesn't do. I'd definitely come to this gym if it weren't so far away.

In terms of capacity, it's a good sized gym with working machines and a big yoga room and functional workout area. They have 6 punching bags that are always in working function, which I absolutely love as a boxer. The manager, Tracey, is amazing. I've had odd encounters with some people here and he resolved the issue immediately. The place is clean. But when the cleaning lady, Lady, is around, the place becomes spotless. She's super friendly and accommodating. All the staff at the front desk are nice and the trainers here are great at their jobs. They have a ton of classes here and the HIIT classes gets packed. It's a great facility with tons of friendly people and I would highly recommend this Crunch location.

I've been going a couple times a week for about two years and have taken Pilates at multiple studios. I genuinely love it, but if you want to be humbled, take Vanessa's class. Every class with her blows me away as she somehow designs workouts that look innocent and then absolutely destroy you. The moves look easy, she does them with witchcraft-level ease, and five minutes later I'm sweating and questioning my life choices. No two classes are ever the same, which I deeply appreciate because repeating the same Pilates routine is a fast track to boredom. Vanessa's energy is unmatched. She's not there to be a Pilates influencer (praise the Lord); no matching Lululemon sets, no makeup, very principal Trunchbull vibes (but in a good way). She commands the room and has zero hesitation calling people out for chatting during class, which honestly just adds to the experience. It's a great workout every single time, and I truly feel like I get my money's worth. Vanessa cares about Pilates, cares about teaching it properly, and it shows. This part of the review is for LA Fitness: FIX THE GD AC in the Pilates classroom at Garden Grove, it's getting borderline unacceptable. -5/5 stars. (Unless you want to make it a hot Pilates classroom like hot yoga, I'm sure we need an additional waiver for that). I'm not quite sure why some of the LA Fitness gyms are different (cleaner/updated) at each location in the oc & sd like mission valley & Irvine over Mira Mesa and garden grove. Some gyms need to be updated, have broken weights or workout machines and dirty bathrooms/pools. The signatures or a select few are really nice. It's a little annoying. I wish there was a higher standard for every LA fitness like there was 10 years ago. Working ac should be a standard at everyone.

The gym was closed for maintenance, yet staff were inside and clearly saw me standing at the door. I knocked multiple times and made it very clear that I just needed a few seconds of assistance. The staff looked directly at me and still chose to ignore me. Being visibly acknowledged and then deliberately dismissed felt insulting, disrespectful, and incredibly frustrating. What made this worse is that the gym appeared open as usual on maps, which caused me--and likely others--to waste time coming in without knowing it was closed. The issue isn't the maintenance closure itself, but the lack of basic human decency and professionalism shown by the staff. I did recover my key the following day (Monday, January 26th) from a different staff member, but that does not excuse the way I was treated. No member should ever be made to feel ignored, humiliated, or invisible. Management seriously needs to address this behavior.
