Grampa's Boxing Gym is not an average boxing gym. It's a very old-school boxing gym with a great atmosphere. Coach G and the other coaches are all very nice and knowledgeable. They push you hard, but also at your own level, which makes it good for beginners and more experienced fighters. They offer monthly membership where you can take as many classes as you want, but honestly every class is intense -- I was so tired I could barely do more than one session a day. Overall, it's a great place to learn boxing. If you really want to improve, you have to put in the time and effort, and the coaches will start taking you more seriously as you commit. Don't expect to learn cool stuff when you don't have the basics down -- you will eventually learn everything you need to know step by step, but that's why consistency and effort matter the most. read more

I been having such an amazing experience at this gym, especially training with Coach G. Since I run my own business, my schedule is very busy, and Coach G is always there for me at 6:00am so I can train before starting my day. That level of dedication and support means a lot. There's nothing like Grampa's here in The Low Country so I set up a gym in the garage and after finally getting a good base, I fell head first about 9 1/2 feet breaking a bone in my back. I used to love this place! It had a great community and felt like everyone was family. If you had kids and were struggling they'd often give you extra time and they have a lot of community events. Ever since Jessica took over that has gone, it's gotten so commercial and all about making money now, it's sad. Her family really loved taking care of people and the community sad to see those values going over a quick buck. Prices have gone up exponentially for memberships and coaches, and if you aren't competing they don't really care too much about you. read more

Going on my 3rd day training. So far the first two days have been kicking my ass but I like the pace. Constantly moving(cardio + exercises), learning combos, and footwork. my instructor Angel, is correcting me whenever I'm not doing the movements right or hitting properly. He wants to make sure my fundamentals are 100%, so I can see he's setting me up for success and a great foundation. My girlfriend and the kiddos love it as well and are excited to keep going. If you're looking for a place to bring your kids, this is the place. Coach G is awesome and does a great job keeping the kids engaged and wanting to learn more. I don't know if it's possible to articulate in one post how amazing GBG is. I've been around (and I mean gyms!) and I have never felt more at home. From the moment you walk-in, you're greeted by staff, who is now more like family. You're not just another "membership;" the owner and the coaches notice you're progress, when you're not there, and makes you feel like part of the family. An added bonus is my coach, Vaughn aka Alex aka El Diablo. I've been with him for a few years now, and he's worth the transitioning. No matter how many clients he has, he will text you/email/stop by your house if you don't show up! I have never met a coach/trainer who cares more about my progress than he does. I began training with alex about 4 weeks ago I would say it has been the best experiences physically I went from 339lbs to a whopping 313lbs I move a lot better LOOK and feel alot better. the environment is really up lifting, it has a family feel to it I am really grateful for GPB and definitely recommend to any one looking for a gym. I made it to my second day today and although I was sore from yesterday, the workout felt good. Coach Jessica is flexible, knowledgeable, and genuine with her approach. I hurt my ankle doing Muay Thai so decided to come here and work on my boxing technique while recovering. Did not like the vibe at all. Girl at the front was pretty dismissive. I told her I wanted to work one on one with a trainer I saw on her IG a couple weeks back. She goes "oh that was you that messaged me about that? He only trains his son" which is fine but I'm thinking if you saw my message why didn't you just reply? Red flag #1. I came for a private but was pushed into in a group class doing hiit jumping rope and heavy bag work (with bad ankle). They don't listen. After rounds of push ups, windsprints, jumping rope and solo bag work I finally do a round with the trainer on pads and naturally get winded and the chick goes "see, you don't even need a private yet"...as any of that had any correlation to a good technique focused private session. I see why people bring their own trainers. I'll give one star because the trainer was nice and if you're looking for cardio focused boxing or you're a beginner it's probably a good place for you. If you're really trying to get your punches and movement broken down and getting some good private work, go elsewhere or bring your own trainer. You would think a place with so many fees would listen a little better since they love money so much. I'll have to try somewhere else. read more

Great boxing gym and friendly staff. It can get a little hectic when there's classes, but, just be careful of the flying jump ropes, find a space to work and you'll be just fine.
