We went to check this place out with family visiting from out of state. They offer cave boat tours (every hour I believe it was). Adults were $26 as of 7/2026. Our boat trip probably had 12 people - give or take. The boat tour was really informative and immersive. The tour guide shares in's and outs of how the cave was found, how they expanded, and how they created the business. You can see some fish, crawfish, and bats. The tour is done in lower level lighting from the light on the boat and with the tour guides flashlight. They also have a little section to "mine" for gemstones. You can buy a few different sizes in the gift shop and that was a fun way to do while we waited for the next tour. read more

We had Vivi as our tour guide and she was very educational for my husband and my first cave tour. It lasted close to an hour and the average temp was a very comfortable 54 degrees on a summer day! We saw a transparent cavern fish that you can see their spine and a frog and a bat. read more

It was the day before mine and the wife's 30th anniversary and I was looking for something fun and different to do. Enter Bluespring Caverns Park. So on our Anniversary Eve I told her what time we needed to get up and what time we needed to leave to make the drive from Louisville to the park. She had no idea where we were going. When we pulled in to the parking lot she said "Well, this looks fun!". We were fortunate enough to arrive about 10:45 am and were the last two booked for the 11:00 tour. The entre fee is around $25 per person, but being a Veteran I was able to get a $4 discount (I'm also told that the Veteran discount is the only discount they offer any more). The tour starts with a walk down a hill that I couldn't help but think would be GREAT on a sled in the winter. It's a helluva walk (both down and up), but VERY scenic. As you descend you can feel the air cool. On a 90° degree day it felt REALLY nice. Once you're down to the bottom you board a boat and start the tour. Sam was our tour guide and he was Most Excellent. Sam has been doing tours at Bluespring Cavern for about 9 years and he shared all kind of facts and trivia during out tour. As I recall our tour was about 5/8 of a mile at a very leisurely pace. Caverns are such amazing, wonderful places. They're their own little, secret underground world. No matter how many I my brain goes into overdrive trying to imagine how it was hundreds/thousands of years ago, how incredibly still and quiet it must be when empty, and how completely isolating they can be. Sam educated us as we went along and entered different "rooms" in the cavern, giving us history and safety tips (DO NOT drink the water) along the way. We even got to see a few bats on our journey. Our boat tour got over a lot sooner than I expected, then it was time to walk back up the hill I think it'd be a blast to sled down. No worries, I'm in pretty good shape. A quick visit to the gift shop and we were on our way. (I added another shot glass to my collection of over 700). We did the boat tour, but they also offer kayak tours and have an overnight room where groups can actually sleep overnight in the cavern. That would be SO freakin' cool! The staff was friendly and funny, the tour was great, and the gift shop wasn't overdone or kitschy. Bluespring Caverns is SUCH a cool place, and we will absolutely visit again. read more

We had a wonderful time visiting! I brought my niece (9) and nephew (7) and they loved it. I should have bought the "pass" for all the activities and ended up buying it later, but they had already done the "mining" so auntie paid for them to do that twice. The cave itself was majestic and worth the drive. With that said, a few things worth noting: -All of the cave information claim an easy walk. The steps down to the cave alone could kill you if you fell. They are incredibly steep and carved into stone. -Our tour guide was a high school boy, not an issue on it's own, but he definitely acted like a high school boy and it wasn't the best tour (even my niece was annoyed by him after an hour). Not so annoying that I wouldn't go, but I would probably not want him again. -The indoor golf is great if included in the package, but not worth buying on its own (if you are considering, I recommend you go look at the "course" first). - We could not get a good signal leaving and didn't choose the best route out. Recommend mapping and saving it before you arrive. read more

GREAT TRIP!! Omg I loved this tour/place! Our guide (Wyatt) was really nice and friendly, kind, helpful, funny etc.! The cave is little chilly so bring a light jacket. All of the people there are very nice people. The boats are very safe, they can help you get in if you need but it's really easy to get in. They do lots of fun activities in the cave like "total darkness "and "cave thunder". The gift shop is very nice, they have a big variety of different things. Great for groups. We stumbled upon this gem while searching for ways to safely celebrate my mother's birthday. First, it was incredibly easy to find (GPS took us right there, despite poor signal in the area) with ample and free parking. Next, we were able to snag tickets for the 4:10 (final tour of the day). We had about an hour to kill in which we easily did so in the gift shop, reading brochures, talking with staff, and relaxing at the picnic tables. It was worth every penny of the $20.00 adult admission. Plenty of history, knowledge, jokes, and awe in this incredibly unique tour. Pro tip: wear comfortable shoes, bring a jacket (it's 53 degrees underground), and bring a small flashlight (iPhone light wasn't that ideal) for extra light during the tour. Super Pro tip: there are hiking trails on the property that lead to a massive 10+ acre sink hole. If you're adventurous, wear your work out gear and explore prior to/after your tour. read more

Great for a little day trip from Indy. I come here every couple of years and while the tour remains pretty much the same, it is still always fascinating and you learn a little bit more every time. Once you purchase your ticket, you are given a time to be at the tour starting point. At the start you will be informed of the tour rules, very important, so nature can be preserved. This is followed by the decent into the cave itself. This is quite steep and once inside the cave can also be wet, so be careful. Then you get to board the boats and of you go... What a peaceful ride on the underground river. You will learn about the cavern, it's history and discovery, the animals in it, experience total darkness, learn about echos and see formations... The worst part for me though comes at the end, when my asthmatic self gets to climb up that steep hill back to civilization... I huff and I puff and occasionally curse, but generally make it back up eventually. The gift shop is nice with a fairly usual cave gift selection. Of course you can also buy bags of dirt that you/kids can 'mine' for gems or arrowheads. read more

Daytrip date with my hubby today! We decided to drive to the Mitchell, IN and Borden, IN area today to hit up a farmers market, browse some antique shops, and try out the hour long boat tour at Bluespring Caverns. We arrived mid afternoon to Bluespring Caverns and found a full parking lot, luckily another lot was up nearer the main turn in entrance so we back tracked to it. The path to walk down was fairly steep which could be an issue for some, but wasn't a problem for us. We were greeted by friendly attraction ticket salesmen upon entering the building and were given a tour time about 30 minutes from our check in. We browsed the gift shop, walked and sat outside taking in the sounds of many birds and just relaxed until our cave tour boat time. Friendly tour guide greeted the group, went over the obligatory rules, and led us down the steep entrance to the cave while sharing some history. The boat tour was interesting, a cool 58 degrees in the cave (may bring a light jacket/sweater). Beautiful drive through farmland and countryside from Louisville to this attraction. Even more nice to return on a sweltering hot summer day! read more

Make a reservation!! We called over two weeks ago because we are from a high school. There was 8 of us and I insisted that we book a reservation but instead the guy refused to book me a reservation and told me to come in at 10 and they could get us on a tour. We drove and hour and half got there at 9 and told us that a group booked the 10 so they couldn't get us in till 11 even though I called and he refused to make me a reservation for 8 people so almost a full boat load. Which is completely unacceptable. Then tried to tell me that they wouldn't let us make a reservation when I called because they already had a group at 10 which was a lie because when I called they said there 10 was completely empty. If you want to go here make sure you get a reservation for a bigger group so you don't have to wait 2 hours to go on a 30 minute tour. Because that is quite ridiculous!!!!! Will never be back here again on our future trips. read more

Didn't have to mine too far from Indy to find this gem! I always am in awe of Indiana's hidden treasures, Bluespring Caverns included. As part of the Indiana Cave Trail, you cannot miss this geological masterpiece. Online doesn't tell you much about what to expect. About an hour and half south of Indy off 37, you pull into what looks like a house but down the hill you clearly see the store/parking lot. Tickets are very reasonably priced and are purchased same day. Tours leave on the hour unless it's pretty busy! You descend a paved trail into the cave to the boats. For an hour you learn all about the initial discovery of the cave and some of its key features along with picturesque views. This is definitely an opportunity you cannot miss, children and adults alike! read more

I came here with a group of 4-5. We purchased tickets the day of on a random Saturday and had no issues getting in, but be prepared: it could get busy and you could have to wait for a different time slot. The process is simple: walk into the gift shop area, pick a tour time, pay, and then hang out for a bit till you're ready to start the tour. Heads up to those that have issues walking/steep inclines: there is a STEEP, and I mean STEEP, include to get into/out of the cave. Once inside, it's a nice, cool temperature. Perfect for any season. You'll make your way through the cave and experience total darkness. It's a bit creepy, but a lot of fun and educational along the way. Definitely would recommend to experience a different terrain in the Hoosier state! read more

Four stars to Bluespring Caverns! After years to seeing signs for Bluespring, I decided it was time for a visit. This gem is a fun family activity not far from Bloomington. Admission is $14.00 for adults and $8.00 for children. I would not recommend that infants or very young children visit Bluespring. My 4 year old did great and thought the Bluespring was "cool". Once you go into the gift store, you are greeted by staff. The staff was friendly and seemed to be enjoying their jobs. In the gift store, you can purchase bags of sand that have either gems, arrow heads or fossils. Go outside and you can mine for your special treasures. I would recommend mining for arrow heads if you have small children. The gem bags had very small stones and it was hard for my child to see or grab the gems. The cavern tour is in a boat. You do walk on foot down a steep hill to get inside the cavern. Wear tennis shoes!!!! The tour last about one hour from start to finish. Staff was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. You will see funny named rock formations, peanut butter mud and a few bats, fish and crawdads. Also near the cavern or at the entrance, there are plenty of picnic tables to enjoy. Bring your own food and drink. The gift shop had a pop machine but did not have food. Overall, Bluespring rec. 4 stars! It was a joy to visit a little gem so close to my home:) read more

Surprisingly cool! (and not just the temperature). I had no idea this was in our own State. I really thought that only caves worth seeing were in Kentucky. This one isn't really huge, which is part of the appeal. But the history is very interesting - imaging waking up one morning to find your farm pond GONE and a new underground attraction in its place. The guides are good, funny and knowledgeable. The boats seem a little "tippy" at first, but then you realize how they stable they really are. This was well worth the trip down from Indy. read more

Well, we were hoping to come here, but our experience with the staff did not make that possible. We called here to let them know we would arrive at 4 for the tour and the employee told us that wouldn't be a problem, and that they weren't on a set schedule so they could take a tour whenever. When we arrived at 4:05 the guy behind the counter was busy turning other families away who thought the same as us. Turns out they sent home a tour guide at 3:55 so the next tour wouldn't be till 5. He then lied to us and told us that he specifically said to be there by 4. They do tours on the hour, so apparently be there at least 15 min early because they will send tour guides home before they are actually supposed to do a tour. Very poor way to run a business. Bluespring Caverns Park was a great family or group activity. The people working there were laid back and friendly and were happy to have us there. The tour goes down into a cave where we boarded a metal boat to navigate the cave. The cave was very cool and unique. Not a ton of stalagtites but still some cool things to see. It was just neat to be floating through a cave on a boat though. There were cavefish and we even saw a catfish. The tour lasted about an hour, which was perfect for little kids. Our tour guide, Sam, was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to give us extra info about the cave. He was a young kid but knew his stuff! Enjoyable boat tour through a cave. After visiting Marengo cave, this cavern wasn't as "pretty", but it offers a different perspective as you boat down the longest underground river in the US - I believe that's their claim. The staff were great from the moment we checked in, until we left. Very pleasant guys working here who clearly love their jobs. Told some great facts and stories along the boat ride - making the hour go by fast! They were also very courteous of the older folks on our tour who needed extra time/help to walk down and then up the VERY steep walkway into the cave. Would do this again. read more

I was truly excited to take my family to this cave as I had read great things (and have a foggy memory of possibly doing this during my childhood. Not 100% on that though!). We drove the 40 minutes from Bloomington and when we arrived an employee in the gift shop was on the phone. My little boy was really excited after seeing the opening of the cave and said "HI!" a bit loudly (I'm assuming) for the employee's liking. He didn't respond. My child said hello again, and the clerk looked up and mentioned that he would be with us in a moment. He never once responded to an excited and eager child that was being polite and speaking to him. When his phone call ended, he began helping us by asking is our little boy would be able to sit down and be quiet. Hmmm. Not a very good way to start the conversation. Long story short, we didn't stay as the next tour wasn't scheduled for nearly an hour, and honestly, the clerk wasn't friendly or inviting. He rubbed both my husband and myself the wrong way, and left us with a nasty impression of this park. Hopefully moving forward, the clerks realize that as the first face (I'm assuming) of this experience, how they treat customers matter. read more

We really enjoyed visiting Bluespring Caverns! We went on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't packed at all. Michael was our Tour Guide and he was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and you could tell that this was more than a job for him...he is passionate about caves and exploring. He really taught all of us so much and had a good sense of humor. We had ages 10-60+ in our group and we all enjoyed it. The gift shop and surrounding grounds are very nice as well. It's a beautiful area. I recommend wearing good walking shows for the walk in and out of the cave. I also recommend a light jacket and long pants. The tour took around an hour. Thanks for a great experience!! read more

Very cool place to visit!! Easiest cave tour we've ever been on AND you get ride on a boat!! The tour guide was super funny and informative and the history and story behind the cave was really interesting!! We mined for fossils after the tour and ended up with a bag full for each kid (4&2) so they loved it!! There's a picnic area to have lunch after as well. Overall a great experience!! Made a pit stop here to gem mine with the little one. We didn't go on the actual cavern tour but we did stop and peruse the gift shop which is small and crowded since most people wait here until the tour begins. It's a very clean gift shop with restrooms nearby. This is where you decide how big of a bag to purchase for your gem mining and if you wants fossils or gems or both. We decided to do the gems and after paying the $6 we were on our own to mine. It's a pretty updated maybe even new mining station with plenty of screens to use. It wasn't busy on this day so we had it to ourselves. We found a lot of gems and they give you an identification card when you purchase the gem bag. The staff was friendly. I could see on a warmer day in the summer or fall time this place could be busy. read more
