I finally tried Bluewater Cowboy for the first time and really enjoyed it. It's a three-story restaurant and bar, and I was happy to see they have an elevator, which makes it accessible. The menu has a wide variety of options, so there's something for everyone. We started with chips and queso, then for mains I had the Shaggy Dog while my husband ordered the hamburger steak topped with queso, tomatoes, jalapeños, and onions, served with mashed potatoes. We split a slice of pie for dessert because why not. Most everything was tasty and satisfying. Our waitress was good, the restaurant was clean, and they also have a full bar. Local recommended this place and I can see why. You're on the coast, so the sushi menu was not a surprise but for those who want something else, they have a regular menu to choose from as well. My partner and I opted for a selection from both to share so we could have a little bit of everything and the food was... acceptable. Nothing earth shattering to be honest. Between the two of us we wanted different things for dinner. BWC had a "regular" menu and a sushi menu, so it looked like it would fit the bill. We ordered a variety of things across both menus, as well as dessert. The quality of ingredients definitely leans in favor of the sushi menu, especially the soft shell crab. The nachos were what you'd expect from bar food, but twice as many chips as cheese sauce. The pies were excellent and probably the star of the meal. Why three stars? It would have been four based on variety and quality of food, but they charge an additional 3% to use a card vs cash. I get it, there's a credit card fee they pay that's a cost of doing business. Be honest, though, and bake that into your prices. Nickel and diming is a great way to lose a star every time. read more

We went to bluewater cowboy yesterday evening and had the best experience. The people made sure we were taken care of immediately. I love to capture the inside of eateries & the chef made sure the food looked great before capturing the moment which was sweet. Our waiter was attentive, funny, kind & helpful when it came to menu options. We ordered the grilled chicken club with candied bacon, Shannon roll, California roll & coconut shrimp. 1st visit, won't be our last. The restaurant was extremely busy. The hostess told us 1 hour wait. We got drinks. I got a frozen lemonade with Makers Mark. I wish the lemonade was more frozen but, it was hot out and the bourbon I'm sure thinned it out a little. The wife had a frozen margarita, she said was good. Our wait time for a table turned into, 20-ish minutes instead of the hour. The wife and oldest granddaughter got panko Mahi with a spinach cream sauce on rice. I don't care for seafood and it looked good to me. The smaller grandkids got fried fish and fries. They cleaned their plates. I got chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and fried okra. The CFS was excellently cooked. The gravy was "different". It had a strong season to it I couldn't identify. I would have preferred gravy on the side or 1/4 the amount. The potatoes were made from scratch, unfortunately they were basically cold. The okra, probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant. Breaded in house and cooked. I did speak to the server about the potatoes, she tried to make it right, I declined knowing, 1, I don't eat much and was focused on the CFS and 2, things happens in the kitchen and they were slammed to say the least. Found this place on Yelp and am so glad I tried it. The ribeye was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fried okra was the best I have ever had. Oh and the somoa cheesecake was so delicious I could have licked the plate. I can't say enough about how great the waitress, Kati, was. She kept checking to ensure I had everything I needed. The tostados weren't great, but not bad either. I probably wouldn't get them again. The shaggy dog is a different story. A little overpriced and underwhelmed for the entrees. The portions are large which is nice but was hoping for better seafood. We got the grilled shrimp small with fries and a salad, a seafood pasta, and a type of sampler plate. If you are going here you must get the tuna tostadas!! Honestly make that your meal and just order a round for the whole table! The grilled shrimp was amazing with great flavor but everything else for that entree was ok. The seafood pasta was okay but uses the same "queso" sauce for other dishes and is like a Cajun cream sauce with not as much seafood as we expected. The sampler plate had coconut shrimp grilled shrimp in the shelf fried oysters and drum. The only one that was good in my opinion were the coconut shrimps. It was sooooo good, but expensive (the filet always is, but it even so. The whole dinner was high priced. I suppose that the cost of eating out in Port A these days. It was worth a visit bc the food was good, but I don't think we will go back to be honest. They sat us at a small table for our party of 5 people. We stopped in for dinner around 8:30 PM and although there was a long wait, we opted for the last 2 seats at the bar and were seated immediately. Bartender and barback were friendly and attentive. We did have to ask for some things that should have come without prompting (silverware, napkins, water refills), but everything was great otherwise. We ordered the chips & queso (delicious and came out very quickly), tuna tostadas (3 mini tostadas with very spicy sauce drizzled on), a house salad (beautiful & fresh), and a Texas Mule (taste the ginger!). The current limited menu is written on a chalkboard, so there's no descriptions on the dishes - would have gotten that sriracha on the tostadas on the side if I'd known about it! The table space is limited and we noticed a few groups leaving because there were not enough tables, we were there after the lunch rush so be prepared to wait if you go during a busy time. The name of this review is " you probably shouldn't come to this restaurant because it stresses out the manager ". So... I came to the Bluewater cowboy with 11 other family members reading the reviews and thinking it was gonna be the best dinner ever visiting Port A. Had to wait a bit for our seat we were a table of 12 not their problem. Drinks were great vibe was good. We had an awesome waitress who took our appetizer order and our drink order and everything came out great! Half the table ordered Sushi the other half off of the land menu. When all of the land menu stuff came out, they said Sushi's taking about 15 minutes longer. An hour and a half later after asking about our sushi several times, the manager came out to talk to us. The manager kindly informed me that yes it's taking a long time for the Sushi to come out and it is equally as stressful on them when things take long to come out it didn't matter the Sushi came out an hour and a half later then all the land food. My husband and cousin had to leave to go run an errand because a store was gonna close. We thought we had plenty of time to eat. We gave ourselves over three hours. We ordered at 6:20 PM and finally we're done at 9:30 (30 mini after close). Zero compensation on an over $400 bill, not even "I'm sorry", I don't want to complain with offering up a solution, they need to have that manager manager go to customer service training because everyone deserves a second chance (if your wondering what manager it was on 6/30/25) and offer a bowl of ice cream or app or anything as compensation. The only thing we heard in response to our complaints were it is equally as stressful for us, so maybe nobody should come to the restaurant to make it so stressful for the manager. I just want to say again the waitress was fantastic we loved her and gave her a very generous tip. Wish we ate at the Bier Haus again. read more

This will be a place we return to on our trips to Port A. The dining area is a little small so be prepared for a little bit of a wait but if the bar is open that spot is great too! Experience was absolutely not worth the time waited and price of the menu. Seeing how this is a restaurant in a busy tourist town, and the weekend, I understand places being busy. This is no excuse for how poorly ran this establishment truly is. Me and my family arrived around 2:00 hoping for a bit of a late lunch after going by a few places that were already closed. We were told the estimated wait time was about 45 minutes, just to wind up waiting over an hour, an estimate about 3:30 when we finally got inside. Looking at the menu the prices were very high compared to other restaurants in the area. We ordered drinks after waiting a few minutes and it took even longer for them to arrive. Probably around 4:00 we finally got to order our food, I had ordered sushi which was on the cheaper end of the menu. (Still not cheap by any measure.) Around 5:00 our food arrived, and it was at completely separate times compared to the rest of my party. The sushi was disappointing at best, 6 rather small rolls for $15-$16. After getting the check was disappointed to see the total, and also the 20% forced tip. I understand some tables may not tip, but forcing your customers into a forced tip is not the way to go. This turned our meal from a late lunch to a very early dinner and was totally disappointing. TLDR; This place was a disappointment considering how long the wait was, the food was underwhelming for the price, and just an overall bad experience. read more

Ok, I made a tactical mistake due to COVID. We ordered take out and the food was just bar food. Since we took the food out, we didn't get the entire bar experience so there was nothing to offset the A-OK food. Nothing special in a sea of great food. But the drink WAS good, so there was that. We started off with the Crab Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers. They were a unique taste, but proved that bacon rules supreme. I think I would have rather have had the classic style - this sounded good but wasn't an improvement. I went with the Grilled Seafood Platter. The fish was about as uninspiring as they get. The shrimp tried to make up for it so maybe I should have just gone with grilled shrimp. The scallops were somewhere on the lower side of in-between. For sides I had the slaw and the mashed potatoes. Neither were something I'd recommend. I wouldn't advice against the mashed potatoes if that's the way you wanted to go. But, since I'm not recommending anything you can see how this went for me. Finished up with the Fin Stalker. It was an awesome Tiki drink. I guess if I had a few more drinks and was hanging out at the bar this would / could have been a better meal.
