Hamburger steak
Penny H.

I finally tried Bluewater Cowboy for the first time and really enjoyed it. It's a three-story restaurant and bar, and I was happy to see they have an elevator, which makes it accessible. The menu has a wide variety of options, so there's something for everyone. We started with chips and queso, then for mains I had the Shaggy Dog while my husband ordered the hamburger steak topped with queso, tomatoes, jalapeños, and onions, served with mashed potatoes. We split a slice of pie for dessert because why not. Most everything was tasty and satisfying. Our waitress was good, the restaurant was clean, and they also have a full bar. Overall, a fun spot with solid food and a laid-back vibe. We'd definitely go back.

Local recommended this place and I can see why. You're on the coast, so the sushi menu was not a surprise but for those who want something else, they have a regular menu to choose from as well. My partner and I opted for a selection from both to share so we could have a little bit of everything and the food was... acceptable. Nothing earth shattering to be honest. You could tell that this was a place the locals and tourists alike might frequent and the atmosphere was inviting. The real star was the pie from a local vendor and you cannot go wrong with their selection. a little something for everyone. The service was timely and friendly. Likely a place we will revisit when on the coast, but not something I'm planning a trip around.

Between the two of us we wanted different things for dinner. BWC had a "regular" menu and a sushi menu, so it looked like it would fit the bill. We ordered a variety of things across both menus, as well as dessert. The quality of ingredients definitely leans in favor of the sushi menu, especially the soft shell crab. The nachos were what you'd expect from bar food, but twice as many chips as cheese sauce. The pies were excellent and probably the star of the meal. Why three stars? It would have been four based on variety and quality of food, but they charge an additional 3% to use a card vs cash. I get it, there's a credit card fee they pay that's a cost of doing business. Be honest, though, and bake that into your prices. Nickel and diming is a great way to lose a star every time.

Somoa Girl Scout cookie inspired cheesecake!

Found this place on Yelp and am so glad I tried it. The ribeye was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fried okra was the best I have ever had. Oh and the somoa cheesecake was so delicious I could have licked the plate. I can't say enough about how great the waitress, Kati, was. She kept checking to ensure I had everything I needed. And the 3rd floor dining room has a great view of the area. Can't wait to come again!!

I loooove this place. We've been coming here every year since 2020. This time, we ordered tuna tostados, shaggy dog sushi and the cucumber jalapeño martini (all recommended by the bartender). The tostados weren't great, but not bad either. I probably wouldn't get them again. The shaggy dog is a different story. I woke up the next morning still thinking about how good this sushi was- and I'm not a sushi fan. And the marg...so good I ordered two. And this isn't a cheap place. Deal with it. Make this your treat meal. And for the person that commented you have to walk up three flights of stairs...get over it. Get up there and enjoy a great meal.

Tuna Tostadas are amazing and spicy

Outside crunch was a good thickness and the inside flavor was moist and yummy. It came with a homemade remoulade that was the perfect accompaniment. For dinner I had the Crab Crusted Redfish. I had originally tried to come here for dinner the previous night and sort of glad I didn't bring my big group here as their prices are a little high with a big group and the wait was crazy long that night anyway. Entree prices range from 28-62 for most items, unless you order basic fried seafood or their pasta dish. I did grab some oysters while I was here. The bartender indicated they were farm-raised from Port Aransas and similar in size as east coast oysters, which I prefer over Gulf oysters. The oysters ended up being very good and clean, but they are definitely briny. The oysters are served with just cocktail and horseradish...nothing special. Their lemon is covered with a net to capture the seed, which is a common feature at nicer restaurants. They also open your Tabasco bottle for you. I enjoyed my cocktail, but it is something I have made at home, so it wasn't anything too special for me.

Their selection is sort of limited with mostly fried items and no gumbo. They do have a fish of the day which is $2 more than their founder platter with crab which is the priciest item on the menu. Of course, they have a full bar with specialty cocktails on its own menu. I chose the flounder with their famous slaw. Our small group sat out by the water on a covered patio overlooking several large boats. Although we sat next to the doorway, which was pretty busy with customers and busboys coming and going, it turned out to be a pretty good table out of the sun. My meal turned out to be really good, so I was a happy camper. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food as well, so maybe we just came at the right time, and hit it on a good day. As we were leaving, we saw a much longer line to just get into the restaurant, so that could deter some guests that are impatient.

Being on island time has kind of thrown off our internal clocks, we lost track of…read moretime, and when 7pm rolled around we realized we were hungry lol We knew what we wanted MacDaddy's BBQ, during our 7 hour drive to get here we pulled up Yelp to search for some new restaurant options, and after seeing the photos and positive reviews we knew this spot was on our list! What we didn't think about was it being a weekday and closing times, we just goofed! So anyway once we realized the restaurant closed at 8:00pm according to Google we got a little worried, being that I work in a restaurant I know how overwhelming it can be to see customers coming in less than an hour until close, fortunately my hubs double checked here on Yelp and then their website and found the closing time was 8:30pm, so we hopped in the car and got there as soon as we could, and we were relieved to see a few people still eating, and another arriving just after we pulled in. There was a little curfuffle once we were sat, the hostess initially offered us a table with bench seating, but one of us isn't able to sit on a bench due to disability, she kindly offered us a table with chairs, in what appeared to be a different servers section, we were close to the TV on the same wall as the front counter, anyway, after sitting a few minutes Johnathan greeted us and took our drink orders to get us started. The ambiance is so relaxed, there was trivia on a couple of the TV's good music, and lots of cool merch to buy, some of the shirts really made me laugh. We quickly made our selections, hubs got the one meat and two sides and opted for the pork ribs, they were cooked to perfection, and he was delighted considering that we were there the last hour of the day, he really enjoyed his meal, I too opted for the one meat and two sides, selecting the regular sausage, and it was delicious. The highlight was Johnathan, he was friendly, made recommendations, and offered dessert, which we couldn't resist, deciding on the German Chocolate cake, with a side of ice cream. We had to take that to go, we couldn't eat another bite. They have two choices for BBQ sauce, hubs got spicy, and I got regular, and I am glad cuz I'm a yellow bellied tender foot, I tasted the spicy and it IS spicy so for all of you that enjoy the heat, I think you will like their, tomato forward sauce. I usually like to dip each bite of my sausage in BBQ sauce, this particular flavor was just different, I think I will have to try it again, it wasn't typical Texas-esque smoky BBQ sauce, more like ketchup as the base and then flavors and spices added to make it their own, we did find it slightly odd that BBQ sauce doesn't automatically come with the meals, we had to ask for it, but one of the things I REALLY like about MacDaddy's layout is it's a TRUE sit down restaurant with servers vs going thru a cafeteria style line to get our food, ironically as we drove down and talked about wanting to find a BBQ spot, and in that conversation I mentioned that I'd love to find one that's not self serve, being that one of us is disabled it can add a lot of extra work for the other, we come down twice a year if possible and have been doing so for at least 10 years, and had never found a dedicated BBQ place, we have now, the food was good, the service was friendly and the vibe was casual and relaxing, we will definitely be back!

It's not the best BBQ you'll ever have and not the best in the area either anymore.. My shrimp was still slightly frozen when biting them and it definitely wasn't what I expected for a shrimp cocktail. I had to eat around the chunks because of the fact they were hard. Coleslaw was again, okay. I didn't not like my turkey at all it was super dry, again, I remember it being juicy and amazing before. The jalapeño sausage however was still great! My husband liked his meal, but when we did our most recent BBQ ranking they didn't make his Top 5 anymore.

We ended up having the honey crab and king crab. I'd never had honey crab before and thought it was OK, my wife really enjoyed it. Not quite as sweet as our king crab (which was out of this world) and the texture was closer to Dungeness crab. Pros-the crab was delicious and the portions were spot on. The shrimp were the biggest I've ever seen and the homemade cocktail sauce was zesty and delicious. The limited bar top was intimate. We really enjoyed our server/bartender. The hot wet towel at the end was lovely. And the butter was very unique! Garlicy and mushroomy, very umami-very amazing! Cons-you really only have an hour to order, have your food prepared, and finish eating. We felt very rushed considering we had to crack everything before we ate it. We got lucky and were able to stay a bit longer before the next group came in, but we didn't have time for dessert and that was disappointing. The froze was not worth it, we didn't have time to drink it and it tasted like a frozen limeade more than a froze. The entrees don't come with sides. Not that we would have had time to eat them, but it would have been nice for the price point. $60 and $100 per crab entree a pound each.

We also liked the red snapper here, so we got 2. I was also looking at cajun seasoning and their selection is very, very limited. I only saw one little baggie of seasoning. Would have been nice if they had more for those people that cook from home. I didn't end up purchasing the seasoning. The total came out to around $125 which I thought was a little high for what we got, but there aren't many other options in town. Service was ok, but not the friendliest.
