Our experience 5/16/26 at Pier 77 in Rockport, Texas was extremely disappointing and concerning, especially as a parent. My 6-year-old daughter was served her meal last, and when she finally received her chicken nuggets, they were raw and undercooked inside. Unfortunately, she had already eaten one nugget before we discovered it. We are now monitoring her closely for possible foodborne illness, including salmonella exposure, which no parent should ever have to worry about after dining out. What made the situation worse was the way management handled it. Initially, we were only offered 50% off the bill, despite the seriousness of serving raw chicken to a child. They did not automatically remove or comp the child's meal or the replacement meal. When we expressed that we appreciated the gesture but wanted to speak with the owner about the situation, management became defensive rather than taking accountability. Eventually, we were told the entire ticket would be covered -- but only if we agreed to never come back. That response was shocking and unprofessional. At no point did we feel genuine concern, accountability, or care for our child's wellbeing. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but how a business responds says everything. Serving raw chicken is a serious health risk, especially to a young child, and the handling of the situation left us feeling dismissed rather than cared for. Loved this place! The staff was welcoming and seated us immediately. We ordered the fried calamari and shared a shrimp seafood boil with the sausage, potatoes and corn add on. Not only was everything delicious, there was so much food leftover we're getting a second whole meal at home from the leftovers! On our visit to Rockport/Fulton we kept having people say to try Pier 77. Wow, so glad we did! Very casual, friendly atmosphere. The menu is pretty simple and they deliver! We liked it so much we went back again. The fried fish, shrimp and oysters are lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. The sides are plentiful and fresh. No complaints on portions - my husband and I split a fried fish platter for lunch and were full. Fresh iced tea was delicious. The only warning is that they serve Cajun boils so if you're sensitive, ask to sit away from the kitchen. We will definitely go back on our next visit! No alcohol, but they openly offer the liquor store next door... closed M & W, so plan accordingly. read more

During a day trip to Rockport, we made a food stop at Pier 77. It was one of the recommended restaurants and I am glad that was our food choice. Décor and ambiance are very basic with fishing motives. Wooden bar area and simple linoleum chairs and aluminum tables. Nothing fancy and pretty good prices. The food was actually pretty good. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and this salad was immense. It came with two full chicken breasts, which were well cooked and savored. I was impressed with the size. My friend ordered onion rings, which were delicious, some corn on the cob and a smaller side salad. I really enjoyed this restaurant. They had huge portions, good prices and excellent service. This place is a hidden gym in Rockport... I would drive from New Braunfels Texas to have dinner with my wife here. Anytime... Our server was Gina and she was unbelievable... She had a great personality and took good care of us. Now with the food, I had the shrimp salad, and it came out on a plate half the size of the table... 13 grilled shrimp on top of the biggest bed of salad you've ever seen... I saw other people's plates like the chicken Alfredo and the seafood gumbo and the portions were huge. The busboys were very friendly and helpful too. I ate the shrimp salad. The grilled shrimp was delicious and the salad was very big. My husband had the garlic shrimp which was delicious. Fresh, high-quality seafood and genuine scratch-made dishes are surprisingly hard to find in this area. You'd expect a Gulf Coast restaurant to take advantage of its location with fresher offerings and a stronger menu. Pier 77 has been the best option we've found, but the food quality falls short, and the extremely slow service makes the experience even less appealing though staff was friendly. Overall, it's disappointing that this stretch of the Gulf doesn't measure up to many others along the coast. This would be one star in Louisiana. read more

Pier 77 was recommended to us by a local woman who sold us our beach day pass. We were there on vacation and were looking for a good place to eat for dinner before heading back to our hotel in Corpus Christi. When we drove up, we noticed quite a few cars in the parking lot, which differed from other establishments we had driven by. Upon entering, it was nice and clean. Many families were dining in at the time. It's hard to find a good restaurant that all of our kids will enjoy. The food was amazing and the portions were HUGE. Our family ordered u-peel shrimp, calamari, fried fish basket, shrimp Alfredo, pork chops with baked potatoes and steamed vegetables, and seafood gumbo. We finished the appetizer and barely made a dent in our entrees. It was nice to have so many leftovers on such a tasty meal. It's a cash only spot, but there is an ATM at the entrance. At both the cook and taste but shocked at the portion. In Italy that dish would be for a family of 4!!! Following our local friend's recommendation, we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, just before lunch rush. The place filled up fairly quickly so by the time we left, there was a little wait. One star is lowest we can give. I added a star since our service was excellent. Atmosphere and ambiance was lacking. Cold wet day, fireplace was not working. During the whole meal I kept hearing boom boom boom techno rave dance music in the background. It was weird for this place. It also kept my heart racing which was uncomfortable for me to relax and enjoy myself. After meal, I made a pit stop on our way out. It seems the boom boom bass was coming from kitchen. Ok, I get the kitchen needs some uplifting music back there, but that beat shouldn't be for the whole dining room to experience on a Saturday afternoon in a Texas fishing village and retirement area. Just didn't work. Food was mediocre at best. We ordered a combo fried fish and shrimp dinner. There was plenty to share. Unfortunately both were bland. Breading was bland. Fish was bland.
