After making it to the top, we were immediately greeted by Guest Services Manager Peggy Steele and a maintenance supervisor who's name I cannot recall. They knew we were lost and cautioned us to turn around to avoid a ridiculous steep descent back to the main road. Furthermore, they let us park the RV in their lot and take our "chase vehicle" to find our cabin; which happened to be less than 1.3 miles from her center. Although we never stayed here, and our entire interaction was less than 30 minutes, the courteous treatment we received is a testament to the hospitality one could likely expect.

We were there for 5 nights and even though it rained a lot of the time, the view was incredible, especially the sunrises ! I would caution anyone with toddlers or young children. If they wander off, they could fall off the edge of the property and be hard to recover (the same applies to drunk adults) ! The drive up the mountain is scary (we live in Florida where the only hills we have are the dunes at the beach). We have a Honda CRV and it was a slow climb but we were fine. My sister and her husband have a very large Dodge Ram. They came up at night the first time and had to do some fancy maneuvering to make it to the cabin. All in all, we had a great time !! PS. If you get a chance, go to a restaurant called Graze Burgers in Sevierville. It has much more than just burgers and they have a full bar ! The food and service were wonderful !

Check in was super easy, although finding the office and then the cabin was a bit confusing, but once we figured it out, it was easy to get to and from. The road leading to the cabins is very narrow, so navigating at night was a little difficult, but we made it ok. We stayed at the Cabin "Lover's Leap" It was the end of the road, so it was very relaxing and quiet. I do think they should put up a no outlet sign though, because twice we had people coming down the road, once walking down to see where they could walk and the second time had been around 9 pm when we were trying to relax, and people were outside beeping their horn. I opened the door to see what they needed, but they just yelled they were turning around. So that kind of ruined the privacy of it a little bit. I agree with another reviewer that it could've used a little updating. The shower head didn't give off much pressure and looked kind of dated. The toilet seat was unhinged on the one side. The bed was a little noisy, and could've used replacement. Otherwise the place was a great cabin! We enjoyed our time there, and all nature had to offer. I had a horrible sunburn on my legs, so I was bummed that I didn't get to enjoy the hot tub, but hubby did for a bit. We were concerned because we couldn't get the jets to turn off, but after an hour or two we realized it must've been going through a cleaning cycle. They provided you with soap, towels, and all the little comforts of home. The owner was amazingly friendly over the phone. I probably could've talked with her all day! Klaire and Patrick are the sweetest couple managing the property and ensuring everything was just right. They provide quite the hot list of things to do and fav sights to see while staying. We checked out quite a few of their recommendations, and they did not disappoint! We loved that the campground was quaint and not a concrete campground like many others in Gatlinburg. We had sites 24,27, 28, and the papa bear cabin. This was such an amazing spot to post up and social distance from the world! Easy access to remote hikes that are stunning and away from the craziness of downtown Gatlinburg. We would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great getaway!

Upon entering, the Decor of the cabin is very impressive. The train decor was a big selling point…read moreon us renting this cabin over others. But a few things made it not as much fun. For one, the biggest issue, that made me dock one whole star... upon arrival, the locks on the back door that goes from the Master bedroom to the hot tub area were broken so that they didn't completely lock. The break is at the top of the door frame, where the upper locks 'should' lock... but the wood is broken in such a way that they can still be pushed open even when they are supposed to be locked. The deadbolts near the handles do not prevent this from happening. So it isn't secure. A determined child could push these doors open and get to the hot tub area. This could be a safety issue, if a child got out unattended. And a safety issue in that outsiders could probably just as easily enter at this point. So don't keep any valuables in here when not here. Next the Master bedroom... must be Mama Bear's bed because it was just WAY too soft. I felt like I was sinking into it... that is considering if one could even climb onto it for being so tall off the ground. I am only 5'4", and my husband 5'7". It was a challenge. If you are gonna have a bed that high, there should at least be a step stool. But getting back to the soft bed... I don't recommend it for anyone with back problems or other Orthapedic issues. It doesn't provide enough support. I'm not saying have a hard bed, but it should have some support. It was hard climbing out of bed as well. Next, the bathroom. The toilet is not bolted down tightly to the floor and it rocks when you sit down and stand up. Smaller issues. The second bedroom... there needs to be a curtain or something to block outside light at night. The lights outside made it hard for the kids to go to sleep, even though that door window is translucent. And the lights... there is like a gazillion switches in this place for lights, and many of them were hard to figure out what worked where. It would be nice if they were somehow labeled, so one can figure out which switch they need for which light. Another issue: The VRBO description said there was an Ice maker, and there isn't. Unless you consider an ice cube tray to be an ice maker? I don't. The description also said coin laundry, but there is no laundry located on the premises. So the description should be changed to say no laundry on the premises. Part of us choosing this site was because it gave the impression that there were laundry machines on site. The living room sofas (if you could call them that) were not comfortable for relaxing after a fun filled day in the Smokies. The hot tub was nice, but the bench outside needs some smoothing down. It has all these little warped areas. One last thing. There wasn't enough TP or garbage bags to last a family of 4 for a whole week. As cute as this place is, I probably would not stay here again unless the issues were resolved. Just spending too much money for these issues to be present. Next time I will go for the better deal over the razzlecdazzle. Too bad, because this place has such potential.

We loved our time at the pool, seeing the Dollywood fireworks from our balcony, and sunsets from the upper floor trash area at the west facing buildings (dont knock it till you try it!) Side note: We aren't owners, so I was worried about high pressure check-ins like I read about, but it was fine. Apparently 2 years ago they were bought by Travel & Leisure and changed tactics. They offered free tickets to attend an info session, I said no thank you and they gave me the keys. They have a great texting based system for updates and everything you need (like towels, dishwasher tablets, etx.) and they were super fast in responding! We had an amazing week! We did a mix of everything and it was nice being right on the edge of everything in Pigeon Forge and 30 mins from Gatlinburg. Honestly I only held back the 5th star because we did have a pretty big black bug run through, but we were on a 1st floor room, which is actually downstairs and there was a visible gap under our door that it likely ran in (we are backed up to woods, and thats what I choose to believe). I sent them a note that they really need weather stripping!

The clubhouse would be great , but total ass holes were running a muck and the poor staff couldn't do anything. Then in the indoor pool had a couple of whales who were running and cannonballing into pool. Which I didn't allow my kids to be jerks. We ended up leaving. It's not enjoyable getting soaked. And if I wanted to be splashed like that I would have went to sea world. Again the employees were sorry, but said there was nothing they could do. The put put was a joke and not convenient to the club house for balls and clubs. The coffee is the worst!!!
