My husband and I hired BluRock Services to remodel and renovate our bathroom and kitchen in the home that we had just purchased in early 2024. After much debate open what to do with the space, we finally reached out to a few local contractors in the Queens area that we saw fit for the project. After multiple interviews and estimates amongst various contractors near us, BluRock was able to define and envision the finished product that we anticipated. Through extensive design and drafting with their in house design team, they were able to visually provide a quote to us that worked and made sense, with a great price too! We could not be happier with the finished result, and would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of home renovation services in the Queens and surrounding areas; they really know how to cross every T and dot every I. We are already starting to plan our next renovation (basement) with them and are extremely excited to be working with such a detailed and structured construction company. Would highly recommend for all home improvement and service needs! P.S. Jesse the owner is onsite at least once a day, for most of the day, to ensure his team and crews are performing to the standards that were laid out prior to signing with this company. Took a while but worth the wait!! We found Blurock as a licensed contractor from the TimberTech aluminum railing website. We had some misdealings with their initial representative, Antwan. But then we met Jesse who was professional and responsive and took over the project. We had to wait 9 months until they were able to come and complete the project. This was due to supply chain issues with getting the railings, compounded by cold weather (freezing temperatures could crack the granite when drilling). As with any contractor- there are always some missing touches that require additional care after project completion. In our case- it was loose post caps, prior granite holes not completely filled with silicone, loose fence post. Jesse was responsive, responsible and came to repair ASAP. His partner, Troy is also amazingly diligent and kind. We've had different contractors work on different things- and they've all had to come back to fix/touch up after their initial project. So don't be surprised if you need them to come back. All things considered- we are very pleased with the final results. Good things are worth waiting for and his railing work is outstanding. Troy was also very nice and sweet so that was a bonus! read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. In order for him to cut costs, he does not subcontract out to qualified individuals for certain jobs, rather, he attempts to do plumbing and roofing himself which he certainly does a terrible job and fails to follow local housing code. We hired Jesse and his crew Spring 2020 (pre-pandemic restrictions) to add a deck and remodel the current extension of our house. In the beginning, Jesse gave us the impression he would work with us and be reliable - that did not prove to be true. Jesse failed to follow up with us and keep in contact when we needed him to finish the job he started. A job that should have only taken a couple of weeks, extended well into several months (without adding the time off from COVID). The first issue was lack of communication. While we specifically told Jesse what we wanted and how we wanted, he failed to communicate that to his crew. When we pointed things out to the crew, they would disagree and stop work, claiming they had to wait for Jesse. When we finally got in touch with Jesse and he eventually came to our place, he would claim we never told him X. This led to his quick-tempered outbursts. He would then suddenly increase the price out of anger. The biggest issues were the quality of the actual work. Jesse and his crew tried to take quick shortcuts - luckily for us, my father oversaw his crew each day and would have to point things out, asking them to either redo something or do it properly (i.e. the deck railings were loose). Because the extension was being remodeled, this required proper roofing. Jesse failed to properly insulate the room; because of that, we are now stuck with a room that gets unbearably cold in the winter and unbearably hot in the summer. We agreed upon the standard thick insulation for the ceiling in order to trap the heat during the winter. Upon further examination, we realized Jesse did not adhere to what we agreed on. Rather, he claims he put the thin insulation in (there is none). Next, the roofing was done abysmally. Not only did Jesse fail to follow basic housing code, his work resulted in expensive leaking repairs we had to pay for. In Queens County - where this work was done, it is illegal to use a roofing torch for roof work due to the dangerous possibility of setting the house on fire. We did not know this until after we consulted with real licensed roofers who tried to fix the shoddy job Jesse did. Him and his crew failed to add any sort of layering to the flat roof of the extension. This resulted in leaking and the bubbling up of the sheetrock walls inside. Jesse claimed he is not responsible and that this was a pre-existing issue. How can this be a pre-existing issue when he is the one who just completely re-did the roof? When we brought this to his attention, Jesse took another quick fix and applied flashing cement. Not only did the leak get worse, but Jesse continued to angrily dispute any liability. This resulted in us paying over $4000 to hire a licensed roofer who took the time and showed us why there was a leak and how badly of a job Jesse had done. The third major issue was the plumbing/piping work done for the heating in the extension. With the extension being remodeled, the floor was ripped up in order to connect piping from the boiler in the basement to the newly installed radiator. Since the work was done in the summer, we could not immediately try the radiator. We asked Jesse multiple times if he could wait (or at least come back in a few hours) with the heat on blast to ensure the radiator worked. Jesse would not agree to it and kept assuring us everything would be fine. Well, months later, Winter 2020 appears and the radiator is not working. In fact, the radiator is spewing out water. When we tried to fix the spewing, the result was the unbearable sound of cold water bouncing off the pipes. We asked Jesse to check on it - again, he disputed this and kept trying to make up excuses about why the radiator would not work. Again, we spent time consulting with multiple licensed plumbers who all advised us the pipe work was done horribly. Jesse failed to properly pitch the pipe upward from the boiler in the basement to the radiator in the first floor extension. To completely fix this would require ripping up the flooring and redo the pitching - this was too expensive. Ultimately we closed the pipe, and the radiator is uselessly sitting there taking up space (no heat). I don't know what was worse - trying to deal with Jesse who would not effectively communicate with us, would quickly lose his temper when we pointed things out, and blatantly created excuses about his mediocre work OR having to cover the costs of immediately making quick repairs and not having the full use of what we paid for (i.e. a room we cannot sit in because it's unbearably cold in the winter with a inoperable radiator). SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND PAY FOR SOMEONE WHO IS MORE EXPERIENCED OR WILL ACTUALLY SUBCONTRACT OUT. read more

Jesse was really great to work with! He helped install a new bathtub, and when problems arose, Jesse handled it with professionalism and tact. What I really appreciated about him was that he never gave up and was so persistent. He wanted to make sure he figured out the solutions to every problem we encountered, and didn't just give up. BluRock Services performed three jobs in my apartment. The first two, which involved some finishing work in my bathroom and kitchen, made an excellent impression on me. Jesse, the lead contractor, was prompt and courteous in responding to calls, professional in his demeanor, and did excellent work. The reason for the one star review stems from the third job I hired this company to do; namely, refinishing the hardwood floors in my unit. The crew spent a week in my place and completely botched my floors. The tone was blotchy and there were striations throughout. In addition, the varnish (only one coat) started to crack and peel in places. Jesse showed up only once at the end of the job to pick up his check. Needless to say, I had to hire another company, one that specializes in hardwood floor refinishing, to redo the job from scratch. I finally got the results I was looking for, but only after wasting an exorbitant amount of money and time on BluRock, about twice what the other company charged! If you are looking to have work done on your hardwood floors, take my advice and find a specialist. read more
