We worked with Sal from Vinny and Son Contracting. Could not be more impressed with the team and Sal. They did a great job on our front yard. They removed bushes/trees, two large stone/brick planters, and then poured concrete for the entire driveway. I would highly recommend them for any stone/brick/concrete job you have. They were extremely professional and completed the job in a timely fashion. You will not be disappointed.

They are meticulous with each step

Vinny and his son Sal along with their team did an outstanding masterful job redoing our driveway and sidewalk. Anyone who sees our sidewalk can tell that the quality of what they did is beyond par. These guys know what they are doing!! It so happens that most of the houses on our block needing sidewalk improvement were done by them. My family loves coming home these days since the first thing we see is the quality of their work on our sidewalk. We highly recommend them!! You will likely not find anyone better. If you're considering them, ask them for an estimate. They were professional, organized, and very efficient. They know how to work with underground gas lines and they understand the science of concrete and how spacing is needed as the concrete expands.

Sal and Vinny quoted us on a new concrete driveway and their company seemed like a good one from the online reviews. They came and poured our concrete on a freezing day this past January, despite me questioning whether this was a good idea (I'd heard that it is not good to pour concrete in the freezing cold). They assured me that this would be fine. A mere 5 months later (June), the concrete is spalling and scaling. Despite them stating that I have a 12 month warranty (on their invoice), and reaching out to them over a dozen times by phone, they have never called me back. Once, a young lady answered, and assured me that Sal would call me within an hour (that was over 5 weeks ago now). Terrible ripoffs, and I've filed a complaint with the better business bureau (they have many other complaints, so beware). Please don't get sucked in by these guys.

a patio with a table and chairs

We couldn't be happier with the work done by Vinny and Sal! Our backyard needed an overhaul, especially with our bamboo issue. They were able to transform our backyard into a huge paver patio with flower bed in a weeks time. They showed up and worked diligently all day long. Sal was able to answer all our questions to concerns we had and was very accommodating to any changes we wanted to make. They do the job right and don't cut corners! Thank you Vinny, Sal and team for your hard work!

So called "curb cut" that was supposed to conform to plans. No curb was cut, work failed inspection. Contractor refuses to fix.

I originally pulled back my review because I was hoping they would do the right thing in the end and close out a job they were paid in full for. I really wanted to believe they would finish their job and we could chalk everything up to a misunderstanding and I would have got over the additional expediting costs. However, they have continued to be unresponsive, rude and unprofessional and we are out of patience and time at this point. We will now have to pay another contractor to finish their job which failed all inspections. Here's a summary of how our experience with this company went: We used Vinny's Contracting from a word of mouth referral of a close family friend. In the beginning everything was timely and they seemed to be very professional. Once paid in full it was a completely different story. Work-timely- NOT DONE according to plans and therefore this resulted in a failed inspection. When we reached out to them, they were unresponsive. When they finally did answer- someone in the background made a comment " you get what you pay for" (mind you we paid in FULL almost 5 grand, they refused to pull DOB permits so we had to pay someone else another 2 grand to do that. so apparently almost 5K plus permits to get a small patch of a Queens driveway and a curb cut gets you something that won't pass inspection with these guys) Professionalism- rude, dishonest, unresponsive, and completely unprofessional. We asked for a copy of the contract/receipt for our files because the original was with our mother in law who passed away unexpectedly during the construction and we do not know where she put it. You would think we asked this company to re carve mount rushmore with the way they responded about giving us a copy of the receipt. It took emails, phone calls and text messages to get this contract. And when we finally do get it, it comes via text message with a nasty note on how we should've kept the original. The kicker is they were dumb enough to put this crap in writing via text message. Via text message they actually wrote they were licensed by the DOB the whole time, they just didn't want to get the permits for us and included an "LOL". This is supposed to be a legit company. When we told them the job failed inspection, and showed them the report, they proceed to put in writing that the plans were wrong- admitting they did not conform to them, and have not answered a message since. It was a pretty simple request- we need the job to conform to the already APPROVED plans or it won't pass inspection- it's been radio silence, so being this is time sensitive we have to hire someone else to fix their job. So in summary, we have had to hire 2 additional people to close out their job. First an expediter, and now a contractor, since they have not answered. We are partly to blame for this because we did not do our due diligence being this company was recommended by a close family friend, who is absolutely shocked at the services we received. We also shouldn't of paid in full until it passed inspection but my husband against our better judgement did because he personally dealt with the guy and believed they were going to the do the right thing. I'm really happy business is so great for them, that they do not need word of mouth business.

They did the pavers for both the driveway and my backyard

In case you can't make it beyond the first paragraph, let me start by saying that Vinny & Son Contracting Corp has my highest recommendation. We hired them to redo the driveway, demolish our deck, and related concrete work. In short, their work is exceptionally well-crafted, precisely planned and excellently executed. Let me talk about setting some expectations so that you won't be disappointed. This is a small company and there are pros and cons when you are dealing with one. For one, the person picking up the phone may also be busy operating a machinery and may not be available instantly to speak to you. If you are calling them and expect a person every single time, then you are better off with a bigger company with hundreds more workers at your disposal. Vinny & Son is a small company operated by a father and son plus a small crew. The pros are quite obvious; they are committed to performing excellent work. They are committed from start to finish and not jump around to different projects or sites while they are on your case. I can only think one major disadvantage about this place. When the weather is bad, they fall behind schedule. They can not truly commit to a date that's over two weeks out. I am a member of the military and my wife works odd hours. They were able to work independently without my direct supervision. Sal's suggestions added more creative layout to my plan. With Sal's work experience, it is extremely helpful to have suggestions while I am far away from home. His father is an amazing person who built a home in his hometown over 30 years ago in Italy with his crew. They are packed with construction experience! Now let's talk about their work and work ethics. They showed up 0730 every day except for Sundays or rainy days and they end their day around 1700 working nonstop. We decided to do pavers for our driveway and backyard and while we don't understand why it has to cost so much more than just concrete alone, Sal explained to me that pavers will still require a layer of concrete. Thus, you are not going to save or cut down cost by doing pavers. The extra layer of concrete will support all the weight that I need since I tend to work on cars quite often. I am done writing.. Let me try to post some pictures so you can see what they did.

    new side stoop and concrete

I've used Vinny & Son about ten years ago to perform concrete work on my house and 10 years later, the concrete is still perfect. So we recently called them back to do major work on the house (pavers, new stoops, new concrete work, blue stone steps). I highly recommend them given that Vinny and crew does an excellent job! Vinny is very patient and tries his best to keep the customer happy. Most importantly they pay attention to the details to make sure that everything is leveled and the water flows away from the house. Other contractors may be cheaper, but with Vinny & Son, you are paying for quality. Their objective is to make sure it is done right the first time so you don't call them back again. Given the extent and complexity of their work and the physical labor, the job they recently completed on my house was very good. My only recommendation is that with every service / contractor (regardless of how good they are), you have to keep monitoring them so the job is done to your expectations. With Vinny and Son, I think they can do a better job documenting the invoice upfront so there are no mis-communications, so that would be one recommendation that I would have if you choose to use them. Make sure you get all of the details ironed out before committing (especially on areas that are cosmetic in nature and can be misinterpreted). Besides this feedback, they do excellent work and are very diligent. Sal likes it when you text him to get updates, and he does respond in a timely manner. :) Pros: Excellent Job, Attention to Detail, Does not cut corners, Takes the right approach, fair pricing in comparison to quality of work, Very diligent to make sure jobs are completed in reasonable time-frame Areas of Opportunity: Document the details on the contract in greater extent, so there is no misinterpretation and all details such as payment methods, design, layout, is defined

If you are looking for a masonry contractor, look no further! These guys are the absolute BEST! Vinny, his son Sal and their crew work from 7:30 to 5:00, 6 days a week with only a short lunch break. They did a large paving stone job in my yard. I have had many contractors for various projects and have never had any that compare. You don't even need to check on them. They take tremendous pride in their work and are master craftsmen. I would never use anyone else for a masonry project. This company is TOP-NOTCH and they are the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I cannot recommend them more highly. I'd give them 10 STARS if I could!

Driveway and steps to my existing patio.
    Karl V.

Vinny and Son are a family company that really knows concrete and mason work. They did my driveway, side walk, patio steps and front walk to my house. Beautiful craftsmanship laying the pavers and brick. Their price was reasonable and work was fast. I recommend them to friends and family and would use them again.

We had hired a structural engineer to add flashing to balconies as well as ceiling fans. When he added the fans, he cut into the EIFS and did a very poor job patching the channel he cut to hide the electric. This caused condensation inside the home and required immediate repair. Usman is a class act. He personally showed up to the project himself every single day. He also did certain parts of the project himself or was helping his men in any way he could by doing various tasks. The roof needed a sauna removal, which Usman and his crew did with extreme care, but also left lots of damage to the EIFS stucco. Usman and his team carefully repaired it. Upon repair, he inspected our roof and found many critical issues we were unaware of. It was not done in a "pushy contractor" way, it was done because he knows his business and his products so well, he wanted to figure out why the roof was requiring so much product and because he is INCREDIBLY detail oriented. It was because the EIFS was getting wet due to exposed limestone joints, which over time would have meant we would have to redo the entire EIFS (a very big and expensive job) and he also found an immediate future issue which would have caused a leak. We were able to fix and get ahead of both, while staying on the original timeline. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated Usman and his team's attention to detail from start to finish of the project. Over the past 8 years in my townhouse, I have put a lot of work into it. It is tricky to find a great contractor. One that is not only talented, but also cares about his work AND his workers!!! That is a true sign to me of a wonderful company. He not only ordered lunch for his crew, he ALSO ordered lunch for my housekeeper and myself! I kept calling my husband and telling him how kind Usman was and how thorough. He is EXTREMELY thorough. He is collaborative in the sense that he will listen to the owner (in this case me) and address any and all concerns or questions I had with thoughtfulness and care. We hadn't planned on restoring the front of my building, which is limestone, but I had a quick question about it (NOT part of the scope!) for Usman and after I received the answer, my husband and I decided to get a bid to do preventative work to restore the front using Usman and his team again. I will absolutely continue to be a repeat customer. Owning a building requires contractors and Usman and his team are absolute gems. Clean, courteous, professional, and talented. We have spent hundreds of thousands on "top contractors" and some have been good, some awful, Usman was great. I couldn't recommend Hi Tech Contracting & Restoration more.

The work took 7 work days for ~500 square feet, and the whole process took ~2.5 weeks from when I first messaged to when they finished. I messaged through Yelp on a Saturday, and Daniel called me back on the Monday. Jack came out to provide an estimate the next day, and he brought samples of polished concrete so I could pick a color. He gave me two quotes: one for removing the vinyl and just polishing and one for also pouring self-leveling concrete and polishing that. The estimates were competitive with quotes I had received from others, and he sent them through Quickbooks within hours of meeting. We decided that they would remove the existing floor first so we could get a sense of what just polishing that would look like. They also provided a COI promptly once we decided on this plan. Jack had a three-man crew come out the following Monday. They arrived everyday from 9 am to 9:15 am. Within an hour, they had ripped up the baseboards and vinyl floor. The concrete underneath had bubbles, large cracks, inconsistent coloring, and a large stain from previous water damage. The foreman, Alberto, suggested they just pour new concrete, and I agreed. We got Jack on the phone and went ahead with that plan. The crew did a great job putting up plastic to protect the walls and the limited furniture I had in the unit. They also put up plastic in the building hallways and carefully disposed of all debris. And 7 workdays later, the floor looks great! Would definitely call up Concrete Care again for any remodeling that fits their skills. For reference, the four photos are of (1) the living room before removing the vinyl, (2) the living room after removing the vinyl, (3) the completed living room, and (4) the concrete samples in the living room before the work.
