Really do not recommend. First, I had an appointment with Dona but after I made the trip to Staten Island I was told she had an emergency (I understand emergencies happen but if I had been told about this hours earlier I could have planned accordingly), but since I made the trip I decided to go ahead with letting Mini do my hair. Second, even though it was just me and a couple other clients, I spent 4 hours at the salon that day because it was just Mini and one assistant and a majority of the time was me waiting around and I ended up not having time for a hair cut or blow out (left the salon with wet hair because I really had to leave for another appointment). I came to the salon with inspiration pictures and very clear instructions on not wanting my hair to be lighter and wanting a "big transformation" and unfortunately did not receive what I wanted in any way. Mini temporarily colored my hair to be 2 shades darker and bleached highlights and now a week later the bleached highlights are fully showing through and it looks like I'm back to being blonde. I am very disappointed in the service and reached out for a partial refund (given I did not receive what I asked for but couldn't tell at the time considering my hair was still wet when I left) and was told no and offered an opportunity to come back but first it is not easy for me to commute to Staten island and second I am not going to give them a chance to mess up more. I am going to have to spend the money to go to another salon to fix. Definitely do not recommend and think there are much more experienced salons in the NJ area. read more

I came in from out of town and needed a spot to get my hair done. I seen this place on yelp and called to make an appointment. I showed up a little earlier than scheduled but Minnie was able to start styling my hair right away. Throughout the time she was styling my hair she kept good conversation going. She also checked in with me often about how I liked my hair and adjusted to my pickiness. I was completely satisfied with her time management, conversation, professionalism and hospitality. From my first conversation with Minnie on the phone, she was super sweet and very professional. I found a Groupon deal and spoke to her about what I would like to be done (it was for highlights, haircut plus blowout). Im very picky about selecting someone to do my hair and she was very patient and understanding. In addition, she let me know that there would be an additional fee because my hair is black (wanted highlights) which I expected. Appointments were easy to schedule too. Donna is the absolute best! I was in a scramble since my hairstylist was sick and I needed to get my hair done before the holiday and before a trip. She fit me in and really took her time with the service and with my hair. She had such great attention to detail and you can tell she really enjoyed what she does. Since it was her first time doing my hair she asked me questions to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted. I hope Minnie will forgive how late this review is! I went to her now over a month ago intending just to get highlights/haircut. Because my hair had been dyed red a year ago, the highlights were coming out funky, so she recommended a gloss and had to lighten up the whole thing a lot more. Having seen the photos of other blonde success stories she had done, I was less afraid than I would have been otherwise...and it turned out that I shouldn't have been nervous at all! It came out a perfect cool blonde. This is a color I never thought I would be able to pull off, but now I can't imagine going back to my natural dark reddish brown. Minnie made time for my appointment at the VERY LAST MINUTE, stayed until almost 11pm to finish my job, and did absolutely everything to make sure I would be happy with the result. She's talented, funny, and a genuinely good person as well as a great stylist. I can't recommend her highly enough. Despite having to spend $$ keeping up this color, I'm actually looking forward to going back to the salon and having her work her magic on my hair when I need a touch-up...that says it all! read more

Minnie is the best. I had a vision of exactly what I wanted for my hair and she made it come to life. She was able to do things to my hair that nobody else has ever been able to such as giving my hair the incredible volume that I wanted. I did a trial with her before my wedding and then she did my bridal hair as well as her and her team did my mother in law and bridesmaids and they did a fantastic job. Not worth the money they are charging... I spent 300 on a 1/2 head of highlights, base color, toner, cut and blow out. The job isn't bad but it isn't mind blowing either! I would spend 250 in other salons where they offer you complimentary food and beverages and are more high-end which this place isn't... They colorist dropped the brush while doing my highlights 3 times! Then when we went to the sink she dropped something down my back... I have color on my hands, arms and feet! Minnie is by far the best choice for an hair stylist and colorist in NY (I have seen she is also a great make up artist btw). Let me tell you briefly why: 1. Reservations can be made via text, and she is super accommodating regarding times/days. 2. She doesn't push you to do extra things, or different treatments from what you want. She goes straight to the point of what you need. She understands, gets down to work and gives the results you want. Actually not. She exceeds my expectations every time I go. 3. Keeping a beautiful blonde mane of hair is not easy. Colour fades, gets brassy, highlights fluorescent yellow etc. I have never been happier with the blonde she created for my complexion and hair. It looks natural, healthy, a champagne blonde colour everyone wants to know where I got! 4. in addition to top notch quality and kindness, she is also affordable! Prices are very good, especially in a très chic location in the Upper East Side. 5. As if all this were not enough, at the end of the session she also took the time to take some pictures of my hair and sent them to me. Minnie is a very skilled colorist and offers her services at a very reasonable rate. I have dark hair and I have been highlighting my hair (without a base bump or color wash!) for years.
