The salon is modern, immaculate, and spacious. I came in as a balayage hair model. The apprentice hairdresser was very kind and easygoing. I came in fully aware that this was a teaching environment and therefore shouldn't expect pro level results. That said, I believe that even in a learning setting, it's essential for both the instructor and the apprentice needs to actively listen to the model, and be very clear and direct about what is and isn't achievable. Unfortunately, that degree of communication was lacking in my experience which led to me leaving very dissatisfied. This review specifically reflects my disappointment with the outcome of the balayage and how my concerns were handled afterward. As mentioned, I came in as a hair model. Before the appointment, I sent the apprentice photos of my current hair along with an inspiration image. I made it clear that I understood achieving the level of blonde in the inspiration photo wouldn't be possible in a single session. I was assured, however, that the look could be achieved gradually over time. During the consultation, I showed both the apprentice and the instructor, Kimberly, the inspiration photo along with past photos of myself with blonde highlights. I usually find this helps communicate the level of lightness, tone, and overall look I'm going for. Every reference photo clearly showed me with light blonde highlights and no red tones. I emphasized four key points: 1. I did not want any red tones in my hair, 2. I wanted to avoid chunky pieces, especially around the front, 3. I preferred a root shadow to create a softer transition from the crown to the highlights, 4. I was aiming for a look on the lighter, blonder end of the spectrum. The moment my hair was rinsed, I could tell the color was too dark. It was the complete opposite of what I had requested. 1. The highlights had noticeable red tones, 2. There were thick, chunky sections at the front and sides, 3. A stark contrast existed between my natural dark brown hair and where the lowlights began -- something I really disliked, 4. And most importantly, there were no blonde highlights at all. My hair looked brown, with some reddish highlights. When I shared my concerns with the apprentice, he was very polite, but he didn't agree with my feedback. Kimberly, the instructor, said she thought it looked good and explained there were limitations to what could be done. She said I could have highlights done again. At the front desk, Priscilla and another employee told me I had signed a waiver and reminded me it was a learning environment. I didn't bother correcting them--I was never asked to sign anything. If they had presented a waiver when I arrived, I absolutely would have signed it. What really bothered me, though, was the response to my dissatisfaction. Instead of simply acknowledging that indeed I had chunky pieces in the front, it was excused as either you're wrong or this was a learning environment. Ironically, an employee from another salon happened to be outside, so I asked for his opinion. He confirmed that the end result was way off from what I had originally asked for. I genuinely wish the apprentice a great future with hair coloring. He was kind enough to provide me with a list of the products he used when I asked, and I appreciated that gesture. During the consultation I repeatedly emphasized for the stylist not to cut thick front layers, especially on the left side of my part. I clearly said & visually showed that I only wanted the very front strands -- the strands that make up less than 1/2-inch of my face -- slightly shortened, but that all the rest of my layers should be essentially left alone as I wanted to grow them out; only a trim with no reshaping. I stressed this several times because of past bad experiences. I also said I prefer a fuller, bottom-heavy look & that my hair has a slight wave, which Hana could clearly see because I arrived with unstyled hair. I even parted my natural hair part for her to use as the base before she cut into it. Despite this, Hana repeatedly tried to convince me to get more layers and went ahead anyway (ignoring what I said), giving me thick front layers and adding odd layers throughout so now my hair cannot sit normally. The ends are thinner & the face-framing and general layers don't even sit properly on my head or frame my face; she made it so there's "holes." Because of how short the layers were cut, there is no way to fix it via another cut; I have to painstakingly wait for it to grow out over the next eight months. This has significantly impacted my confidence. It looks weird styled and weird naturally dried -- both problems I didn't come into the salon with. I believe a full refund is appropriate as the bare minimum. For a $209 appointment that lasted less than 45 min and with a simple brief -- a price that was not relayed to me beforehand and which I only learned after the fact -- I expected my clear directions to be followed regardless of whether the stylist thought my choice was boring. After many years of coloring and cutting my own hair at home, Ive decided to finally leave it to the professionals. After 2 years of growing out my last color job, I decided I wanted a change again. I went to multiple consultations and messaged many other salons about what I wanted, but I didn't feel confident until I landed here. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted but provided my colorist Priscilla and stylist Jacelyn pictures of what I liked and they went to work. First, the color... I knew I wanted to go with more natural colors this time, so I opted for some brown shade that matched my skin tone. Priscilla took into consideration all my concerns and helped me decide on a color based on what suited me best. After our brief consultation, I definitely knew I was in capable hands, and I am 100% in love with the results. I feel more confident and better in my skin. I highly recommend Priscilla for all your hair concerns and color jobs! 10/10 Super friendly and attentive. Last, the cut... I've never had a professional salon cut done before and I was frankly, very nervous. I knew I wanted face framing bangs, which I had previously that turned out horribly. I showed a few images to Jacelyn and I was advised to avoid bangs that stop at the cheek and to instead go for longer bangs. I am so grateful I listened, because I absolutely love my new hair cut. My hair feels lighter and my ends feel healthy. I love the bangs, not too short, and something safe for the first cut. 10/10, super sweet and easy to work with! Overall, I had a great first experience here and I will 100% be back. I cant recommend it enough, the staff here is extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable. There is not one moment where I felt concern about the condition of my hair. The most relaxing experience ever! Highly recommend coming here for all your hair concerns and needs. I just moved to NYC and I was looking for someone to do highlights so I went to this salon. Over the phone I told them I wanted a base and highlights, and I asked to go to their blonde specialist. I set up an appointment and I go only to be told during the consultation that my hair is "too complicated" and NO ONE in the entire salon (including the "blonde specialist") even knows how to do highlights. Complete waste of time that could have been avoided if they were upfront and honest. I even showed them pictures from their OWN instagram of girls who look like they had highlights and they told me there was a filter on the photo to make the girls look more blonde than they were. Screams false advertising to me. The ONLY thing I am grateful for is that my stylist admitted she didn't know how to do my hair instead of trying and destroying my hair. If you're looking for highlights, AVOID this place. read more

I discovered this place randomly and wanted to try it out because I'm always in the neighborhood. I'm so glad that I found this salon because Priscilla did wonders to my hair. She made it go from dull and unimpressive to something flattering and very attractive for my face. She was very communicative and was responsive to my thoughts on getting a mini hair transformation.
