Discovered this gym from the Next Door app, a neighbor recommended it. Went to check it out, toured the fitness center, signed up last month after contemplating if we wanted to really commit to the lifestyle changes we needed and truly wanted to make. It's been a few weeks now so I want to give an honest review. First, the gym is more of a contemporary wellness center/fitness center. It is refreshing, innovative and the cleanest gym I've ever belonged to. Our gym experience in a historical background perspective - been a gym member at 24Hr in my 20's-40's Gold's gym in my 40's-50's, so for decades- belonged to a gym, and frequented regularly. Also last 8 years had our own home gym equipment. Had to sell the home gym equipment to make room for the grandchild's crib! So here we are. We were in search of a gym once again. This is a family owned business and the owners are health conscious. One can see they put a lot of thought into this small business. They have NEW state of the art equipment, with technology-app enhanced features which helps with tracking one's fitness. There's professional physical therapy trainers and consultants for nutrition/dietician, massage specialists, trainers that are there to support and teach not to merely sell you. Two group classrooms for yoga, balance, stretch, chair, core classes, etc.. it's a wide range of activities which I haven't had the chance to participate in yet but will in the future. There are extracurricular activities for community building and social support. I really like that feature. As people get older it is often challenging to find friends and a social support network. They help build that in. I can see how this is such an added bonus for retirees. I'm not quite there yet but very forward thinking, I love it. Great concepts fulfilling human social and developmental needs. There are 3 levels of membership. I was able to join through my Active & Fit employer membership for $32/month per person for access to facilities;the "core" level membership. Classes in core enrollment level is $18 per class. Wish the classes were inclusive at the core membership level. However, one can join higher tier membership like the Infinity level at $85 month and get unlimited everything and many additional benefits to all their offered activities. The one concern and recommendation I'd have for AIM is to get Guest WiFi up and running in order for the apps to run faster and have a better connection. It is a bit frustrating at times when it is not connecting to the equipment. Obstacles can be annoying. The equipment includes cardio-treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent cycles, recumbent elliptical, working both arms and legs, strength training machines, free weights, etc. they really have so much it is more than any person would want. The gym is well lit, fun music from our generation (baby boomers and forward) and a spacious clean feeling throughout the gym. The staff is helpful, friendly and professional. Check it out! I started training with her to address some deficiencies related to an injury, and she immediately created a customized plan that took my limitations into account while protecting me from further harm. Maddie makes every workout enjoyable with her easygoing personality. She strikes the perfect balance between pushing me and encouraging me without ever feeling overbearing. She's incredibly knowledgeable about body mechanics, anatomy, and movement, and always demonstrates each exercise beforehand so I have a clear visual. There's two restrooms in the back as well as cubbies you can leave your stuff. Most classes I've been to were booty day so it was all of lower body and glutes. For one of the classes, each workout is sectioned out by two sets of 45 seconds with a 15 second break in between each set. Another one was 3 minutes to get through 8 workouts ranging from RDL's, hip thrusts, lunges, Bulgarian squats with 10-30 sets each. There's a ton of equipment spread throughout and when you're done with a set, you'll move forward to the other workouts. I was sweaaaating!! I joined in for their other classes too and each day is a different format. Which is nice since you get to switch it up. Downside would be ... there's a bad mosquito problem here. Almost every time I've been here I've gotten mosquito bites and I always see them flying around. They even fly around the front desk. It sucks but wear some bug spray if you're coming here. Pepe walked around to correct forms during the workouts. This gym definitely got me feeling sore. They have a 21 day promo for $21.

But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

Decided to surprise my wife with a relaxing duffy boat ride for our wedding anniversary with some friends. Went straight to Yelp to do my research (thanks Yelp!). Originally, I was going to book with a rental company for Newport Harbor, but then came across a Groupon for PCH Electric Boats. After checking out their website and reading the glowing reviews on Yelp, I immediately booked. I called to book a white duffy boat on the day before Thanksgiving. The person on the phone was friendly, courteous and really easy-going. They asked if I had a Groupon and if I could provide the voucher number. BOOM. done. all set! I received an email with VERY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS (including photos) of where to park and where the meeting area was. Additionally, a link to the waiver form that every passenger is required to fill out (even your babies) was included in that email. On the day of our booking, we were met by the owner Grant who I'm pretty sure was the same friendly, courteous and easy-going person I talked to on the phone days earlier when I booked. He provided specific instructions on where we're allowed to go and what to avoid. He saw we had several small children in our party and recommended everyone use the restroom nearby before boarding since there is not place to stop out in the harbor. After we came back from our potty break, Grant lead us down to the dock and got all the kiddos fitted for their life vests (all in great condition btw). He assisted us with our bags so we could focus on boarding the kids safely and even took a group photo for us! The boat was clean and easy to drive. The sound system was bumping and all the windows easily lifted up for that nice harbor breeze. It was a beautiful and memorable day. On our return, Grant was at the dock with one of his employees ready to receive us. He guided us in smoothly and as we were gathering our belongings and cleaning up, he helped all the kids out and grabbed our bags. We handed Grant a tip and immediately he passed it over to his employee who was going to do the post-ride cleaning.. what a great boss!!!! Definitely will be booking with PCH Electric Boats again! Thanks Grant!!!!
