Luckily, someone who worked there noticed and took us to some fantastic seats where my kids could actually enjoy the game. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to see Legends of Brazil vs. TFC this past May! It was my first time at BMO since they renovated for FIFA and the additions were better than I expected. The added seats were sturdy & clean. Pitch was visible from pretty much anywhere in the stadium. Bathrooms were clean (they had female cleaners in women's washroom both times I went), and there was ample options for food & drinks. There's also 4 massive screens on the 4 corners of the pitch, so games are easy to watch, especially for the closeups. But my favourite part was seeing Ronaldinho! read more

There's not a lot to this stadium. The shops aren't very well developed, and the food options are limited. There is a water fountain near the entrance: the trick is to twist the spout around 180 degrees so you can fill your water bottle. But, put it back so you don't just have water splashing onto the floor by those not expecting that. The one thing that you want to pay attention to is the side you sit on. If there's an afternoon game, and you're on the east side... well, the sun sets in the west, so that sun is directly on you. And it gets hot. Very very hot. Also, make sure you have a clear bag if you want to take anything in... It's not the worst stadium, and when you're in your seats it looks great, but it doesn't have a lot to offer. read more

This review marks my 3,000th one. Crazy, huh? I wanted to review something either in Toronto or the GTA to mark this milestone. It's BMO Field. As with many of my reviews, I do have a different spin. Here's mine with this stadium. BMO Field is where the old Exhibition Stadium used to be. BMO Field was established in 2007. It is the home of the Toronto Argonauts (Canadian Football League) and Toronto FC (Football (soccer) Club). I have seen all Argos games at SkyDome or Rogers Centre, depending on when the name change occurred. I have yet to see a Toronto FC game. My spin? Although BMO Field isn't a concert venue, the first and only concert that was held here was Genesis on September 7, 2007. I was there. It holds a special place in my heart. It was a fantastic concert. I don't know why it hasn't hosted more concerts. I was comfortable at this concert. Concession stands were everywhere. The prices were a bit expensive back then, but you expect that to be the case at any major entertainment event. The washrooms were clean and accessible. These days, I'm normally around the area to park. I remember seeing Erasure at Queen Elizabeth Theatre a few years back, which is across from BMO Field. I parked near gate 4. It was affordable and a fairly close walk over to the theatre on a soggy, rainy evening. I haven't seen any CFL games recently. I should, as I miss seeing all CFL action in a stadium. I'll need to give it a try at BMO Field in the upcoming Argos season. (127) read more

Recently attended an Argos vs. Tiger Cats game here - I realized I hadn't been to BMO since 2011 for a TFC game! Of course, the day I go happens to be a very cold and rainy one. I'm not going to let that effect my review. There's lot's of parking on the grounds here which is nice. It is $25, but I've desensitized myself to event pricing. We walked to the gate on the south side and were through check-points and security pretty quickly. Despite the weather, the staff was friendly and efficient. The stadium overall felt clean and it wasn't overly busy. The concourse on the second level had most vendors open. I grabbed a quick hot dog ($6.50) and beer ($11) before heading to our seats. The seats were unfortunately wet from the rain and although we were covered, we still got pretty soaked. Overall I can't really complain about the facility? It seems they've kept it up to venue standards, the lighting and sound was quality. read more

I wanna tell all the other stadiums: you should B-mo like this stadium. It's one of the best in the MLS, for sure. Yes the field has major issues, but if you really wanna p*ss the sh** out of every team that visits, put your shiny big stadium right next to the lake, right near the downtown under the shadow of the skyscrapers (like Seattle's is, sorry don't mention Seattle around here), and it'll be so freezing cold (although they don't play from Dec to April, thankfully), that your opponents will be frozen solid. The team that plays here is as impressive as this stadium, and when the fans fill the rafters, it becomes a truly raucous and magnificent atmosphere. I can't say enough about it. Easily 5 stars and one of the best stadiums I've ever visited in North America on every level. read more

Along the East end, lower level, my favourite place is the full roasted pig stand for outstanding pork themed sandwiches. Have only come for Toronto Football Club games; not sure if there's anything else that goes on here. The BMO Field is your typical sports venue. Seats are pretty comfortable considering that they're your usual stadium plastic chairs. Food and drinks are overly priced; a Keith's cider is something ridiculous like eleven dollars. BMO is a wonderful venue. Almost a '5' by Canadian standards even. This is Canada's only stadium designed for soccer and has a grass field (rather than astroturf). They also built it at a perfect size so that it can accommodate a reasonably large crowd, but not being too large so that smaller crowds will lose atmosphere. Pretty simply 2-tier seating design and few corner seats, so everyone has a good view of the game. Great location near downtown, GO transit and CNE access when it takes place and even nice view to look out to Lake Ontario on the south side. Somewhat underwhelming concession, but overall a great venue. read more

Went and saw an Argos game here last week. A selection of food options once the gates open. Nothing outstanding - Burgers, fries, dogs, sausages, tacos, nachos, pizza etc. Outside of the gates you could get sandwiches or hot dogs from local carts and beer from a big Miller booth. Reasonable selection of beverages - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic (great hot chocolate)! There was a Tim Hortons and Pizza Pizza stand. This park is missing some eating options closeby. Some park folks tried to direct us to a place way on the other side of the Lakeshore, saying it was 5 minutes walk away (would have been 15-20 minutes for sure). The prices for food as per most stadiums were high. Visa or Debit is accepted most spots. 3 sausages with non-alcoholic drinks ran over $30. Note -- Level 200 seats can be quite cold if you are more than 5 rows up. Expect it to be darn chilly in October or later. Lots of folks had blankets, heavy coats, toques and mittens. Not a lot of room for people to get past you when sitting. Was very easy to get to via transit (509 TTC streetcar and only 5 minutes walk from the Exhibition loop stop). read more

If you are going on an especially hot day and don't want the sun hitting you... get a seat on that side. If you want to be where the action is, getting a seat on the 118-112 is best. Awesome experience here! Came here last night to my first TFC game ever and I really enjoyed myself. Although I probably froze to death it was super bright and although we were high up in the stadium, we still had a perfect view of everything. As usual with sporting events (I've noticed), the seats are quite close together so if someone has to get up you literally have to stand in order for them to pass. Cant comment on the food because the prices of food here is a joke--$7.50 for an average sausage on a bun! Also, if you're seated high up, you better be fit as you got to walk up all those stairs lol. I'd love to come back but definitely when it's warmer outside. read more

This review pertains to the BMO Club lounge and seats for the Toronto FC match. I got the tickets as a gift so I'm not sure if the general public is able to purchase these tickets or if it's only for corporate sponsors. The seats were located in Section 106, row B3, seats 1-4. They were located at field level and you also had access to food before kickoff and halftime, located at a lounge called BMO Club. Inside the lounge, all food along with the soft drinks, are included in the price of the tickets. Alcoholic drinks are extra and needs to be purchased separately. They had a DJ playing music. The food available were steak sandwiches, mini sliders, tacos, Red Thai Curry with rice, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit salad and pastries, among other things. Once you were at the seats, you had a waitress that you could order drinks and snacks. The seats were amazing being at field level and close to the action. The seats we had were close to one of the goalpost. Awesome experience and it spoils you to future TFC matches. Best of all was that TFC beat the Philadelphia Union 3-0. read more

Visited BMO Field yesterday for a block of rugby matches during the Pan Am Games. It was such a fun experience and so thrilling to cheer Canada on as both the men's and women's rugby teams went on to win gold!! Yes, the food and drink is very expensive, but it is what it is. Seats were fairly comfortable and offered great views of the field. Had a great time here and would return again for another sporting event. read more

I've had plenty of tickets, private box invitations and other corporate function opportunities to attend a TFC game at BMO Field, but I was never interested or had the time to go. Well as it was the last game of the season and an opportunity to clinch a home playoff game for the first time in franchise history, I decided I would go to one for the first time. Did not disappoint. The game had plenty of scoring opportunities and GOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLs! The place was very nicely put together, even the expansion of of new seating and canopy. The venue had more food options than at a leafs game and it was fun to sit outside in a rather warm October night! Had the FC Tacos and Nachos. Umm...it was OK at best but I don't think I would do that again. It did fill me up for the evening, but next day was not so pleasant! Ugh! I personally think this is a great venue. It's the newest of all our sporting arenas in the city and well laid out. Unlike other MLSE properties there are plenty of unique food options: such as porchetta, sausages, a smokes poutine truck and occasional the Kaplansky food truck shows up too. Carlsberg used to be the exclusive beer of choice at this venue which was awesome, however I think they pulled out when they realized the team was tanking, no body wants to stay on board the Titanic. Now you've got your choice of Budweiser or Bud light (joy..rapture), but after 3-4 it doesn't matter because you'll be caught up in the excitement of the crowd. One thing I simply must agree on is that the lack of debit at concessions and absurd wait times and fees at the BMO ATM's are absolutely ridiculous. Two stand out features of this stadium are: 1) The bar area under the scoreboard which, with ticket, you can stand and drink beer under to cover of the stands. We once gave up our seats the entire game due to rain and watched from here and it was amazing! 2) I really love this venue because of how once dusk/night falls it gives you a great view of the Toronto skyline. On a clear night, sitting on the West side of the stadium is absolutely breathtaking and makes you realize just how much you could possibly love this city. Simply put, this is one of the better stadiums that I've ever been in. My first encounter was for a Toronto FC game, and the atmosphere does not disappoint. The crowd is into the game before it even starts. The seating is pretty good, I'm not the biggest fan of the mini hard plastic chairs, but they get the job done (I guess), and they're better than sitting on a metal bleacher. So I'll give them credit for that. I don't think that there is a bad seat in this place. It's small enough that sitting on the top row isn't going to make you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The concessions and restrooms are easy enough to get to that you can get back to your seat in a decent amount of time. The Grey Cup was something else entirely. The additional seating that they did make the place start to get a little bit too crowded for its size, but I was in my seat for the whole game, so it didn't bother me too much. Also, the crowd was decidedly pulling for Ottawa (big shock being in Ontario), so as a Calgary fan, the atmosphere wasn't entirely what I would have wanted it to be (but considering it wasn't McMahon, I'm not going to complain). Perhaps the single greatest feature of the stadium is its location--right next to the GO train station in Exhibition Place. It is so easy to get in and out from the suburbs, that you can book a hotel (if you're an out-of-towner or just out of the country) in Mississauga or Oakville, and take the train in and not worry about Toronto traffic. Even if you're not Canadian, I would urge you to take a trip to Toronto. They have some of the best sports fans in the world, and it's a treat to even be a part of it for just a few short hours. read more

Wow. I must say that Toronto FC fans definitely change the face of Canadian sportsmanship. So much screaming, cheering, feet stomping and beer drinking. This ain't no Blue Jays game! I went last weekend and the stands were absolutely packed! We were lucky enough to get a seat right behind the goal and the game was absolutely amazing. Every time a goal is scored, confetti goes everywhere, streamers are thrown and people literally freak right out. I've been to basketball games, hockey games and baseball games but I have never seen such fanatical sports fans in my life! And the tickets were only about $20 bucks, so you really do a get a lot of bang for your buck and something every Torontonian should experience at least once! Just a note, if you want to keep drinking after the game, make sure to try and head out a little early to the Brazenhead down the street. It's a great post-game bar but it fills up REALLY fast after a TFC match! read more

Great experience overall. Love the new facility, works better for the football atmosphere,and gives the downtown centre a break from the ridiculous amount of traffic if there were a Jays game followed immediately by an Argo's game. Smaller washrooms here than at the Rogers centre, so they got a little crowded, but there aren't as many seats so I guess it could have been worse... My group started off in the tailgate area, which is just across the road towards the lake, right across the water from the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. Pretty decent setup there, plenty of portable toilets and hand washing stations in the fenced area. After the tailgate is where things got a little weird. Up the hill towards Ontario Place, there is a footbridge (about 200 metres from the lot), and it connects over the street directly to the BMO field. So I can't for the life of me understand who made the decision to close the bridge. Yes, you read that right. The most direct and convenient route for people that paid a premium for their tickets, and parking, was closed (the security guards even said they had no idea why). This was absolutely awful logistical planning. The next nearest crossing was a 10 minute walk up the street, and then 15 minutes back around to the stadium. We stood there (on the bridge) and watched as a group of about 50 or so angry patrons literally stormed the fence and forced it open. There were well over 200 people that crossed the bridge that I could see. After the game, they not only closed the bridge again, but closed the path leading anywhere near it. They had all audience members walk in a huge roundabout route towards the other end of the stadium, around the park, and then 10 minutes up street just to cross. In addition to this chaos, there was a Duran Duran concert that ended at the same time! The audience from this show encountered the same problems. At this point, people were hot, sweaty and tired (humidex was 40) and some were screaming at the security guards. What should have taken us 5 minutes to walk, ended up taking over half an hour. With two small kids in tow, after a long hot day, this was the absolute worst. Hopefully this is a big kink in logistical planning that will get smoothed out with time, otherwise it would have been a 4 or 5 star review! read more

If you're a fan of soccer (or "football" to everyone else save the Americans), you always heard the stories from friends who have travelled far afield to countries in Europe or South America and heard tales of the type of atmosphere that comes with Match Day. There's the pre-game drinks, the walk to the stadium, the packed venue, the screaming, the chants, the songs, the post-game drinks. It'd be cool if you didn't have to fly to Europe for that. As long as Toronto's been waiting for some sort of professional soccer team, it has waited equally long for a soccer-specific stadium to house the matches. BMO Field answers that need and delivers a truly unique fan experience. Constructed in time for Toronto FC's inaugural season, it is an open-air stadium holding over 20,000. There are stands on the west, south and east sides with the north being an open standing-room-only-beer-tent type affair. Care has been given to ensure that there is not an obstructed sight-line or admittedly a bad seat in the house. Even the arguably worst seat in the house (furthest up and to the extreme far left or right on the main stand, provides a decent view. Refreshments abound. Yes, you can get the regular staples of pizza, hot dogs, you know, the usual. Go to the north side stands where you'll be able to find scotch eggs, chip butties (a French fry sandwich that if you've not tried, you have to), and other typical football-y fare. Beer is sold pretty much everywhere in the stadium. Probably a good thing since the majority of the TFC fans show up thirsty. The central part of the west and east stands are the places where you're able to sit and watch the match without much bother from anyone around you. This is probably where you do not want to sit. Get to the south-side stands where not only is the atmosphere chaotic, it is typically a non-stop pulsing mass of people singing, chanting and bouncing. You'll be lucky if uttering the phrase "Sit down please, I can't see!" ends happily with merely a stern look shot your way and then the continuation of business as usual. Bedlam. There are a couple of drawbacks with the stadium, one being the pitch itself. It is artificial turf and though top of the line, it still is artificial. Though, given Toronto's climate and the costs associated with real turf, this can be forgiven. On the plus side, during the winters, a dome is placed over the field allowing several six-a-side games to carry on throughout the cold months. Speaking of miserable weather, don't bother bringing umbrellas to BMO Field if it's looking like rain. For security reasons, umbrellas are not allowed in the seats. Buy a poncho, make sure your shoes are Scotch-Guarded, and above all else, make sure you keep a lid on your beer. read more

Lucky to have been to several Toronto FC soccer games this past season (TFC is Toronto's Major League Soccer team), I have had the pleasure of experiencing a torrential rain storm, getting soaked to the bone, having beer spilled all over my head, all while watching the game, and you know what; I barely noticed! The atmosphere and incredibly loyal fan base (for a team that's only been around for 2 seasons and haven't made playoffs) is INCREDIBLE! BMO Field was created as home base for our MLS team. Long overdue in a city of international football fanatics, the people of Toronto went crazy when they discovered a team was coming and a brand new field was being made for them. Tickets sold out immediately, fan clubs were formed and BMO Field was christened with the rowdiest and yet, most appreciative fans for any Toronto sporting team. It is located on the Exhibition Place grounds, has a massive parking lot, and is also TTC accessible. On game day you will see the streets lined with red and fans rallying anyone and everyone who will pay attention to their chants and cheers. The TFC and BMO Field are forever synonymous with each other, but BMO Field is also Canada's National Soccer Stadium and is helping to build a strong soccer foundation all around the country. read more

This is my absolute favourite place to be. I got really big into soccer about 4 years ago and have been coming to games non stop ever since. The first game I went to at BMO Field was a disappointing loss to the New England Revolution but it sparked a fire inside that has been burning ever since. Saturday night marked my second trip to the MLS Cup, the first being last years heartbreaking loss to the Seattle Sounders. This stadium is absolutely beautiful from the outside and equally at stunning from the inside. The seating here is typical of a soccer stadium, not a bad seat in the house. This place has plenty of food options from hot dogs, pretzels, poutine, to even some pizza pizza if that's what you are in the mood for. We ended up winning MLS Cup tickets through AT&T so I got to spend the game in one of the corporate boxes which was a nice change of pace! Toronto FC won the game 2-0 over Seattle and took not only its first MLS Cup, but Canada's first. This stadium is a beautiful place to watch a soccer game, and I highly recommend anyone in the GTA comes and gives soccer a chance, it's a really fun and affordable way to spend an afternoon or night! read more

We went to the home opener for the TFC at the BMO field this weekend for the first time and what a great stadium! Every seat in that place is close enough that you get an incredible view of the game. The crowd is electric! The washrooms were shockingly very clean (though the hand driers are rubbish)! The view of the Toronto Skyline if you sit on the west side of the stadium like we did is absolutely beautiful (check out the photo). Two 28oz beers (which is the equivalent to a pitcher of beer!) ran us about $25-$30. Pretty reasonably priced considering you're at a sporting event and should expect to pay a fortune if you want to drink. They stop serving this size after halftime. The parking is abundant and only $13 (not bad considering public transit for two there and back would be $12). Oh and I should point out, they've recently switched the pitch to real grass instead of Astroturf . Overall this was an A+ experience. GO Toronto GO! ****TIP: Bring a blanket to sit on...it makes those seats WAY more comfortable and doubles as warmth early in the season. read more

Let me start off by saying I am not the biggest soccer fan lol. I'm mostly comparing this experience to other sporting ones. It was a cold day and the only place with any heat was the bathroom. That being said, the line for the women's washroom wasn't very long! In fact the men's was longer! I was so happy about that hahaha. So, there was no control over where anyone sat. This caused a big commotion in more than one area as people were sitting in other people's seats and refusing to move. I also didn't like the fact that everyone stood for the ENTIRE game. Why?! Sit the heck down! There wasn't even anything going on. The people in front of me were standing, which caused me to stand or not be able to see, which caused the people behind me to have to stand. We weren't way up there, we had pretty close seats. The lines for food were crazy. I didn't even go during half time (is there half time in soccer? I really don't know. I left when the game was still on) and by the time the break was over and the game started again, I had hardly moved in line. I left the line to grab a beer since that line was a lot faster. (This was a heartbreaking decision. I was dying for food or a hot drink!) Dying of starvation, my boyfriend and I left the game early to grab food. I would much rather watch hockey or basketball at the ACC. I'd only ever go again if I got tickets for free. read more

Nice, centrally located outdoor stadium. Seating is comfortable in most areas (except if you're up high, you only get half a back rest). Atmosphere is always outstanding regardless of whether you're there for a TFC or Argonauts game. Food and drink prices are reasonable relative to other Toronto venues (ie. ACC and Rogers Centre). I gave three stars because it's ridiculous that they close the bar at halftime and there were lots of bugs where I was sitting. read more

Obviously, the product on the field is terrible. I have traveled to many stadiums around North America and in Europe, and it just seems that BMO Field is so cheaply built. I've been a season seat holder in 118 since day 1, so it has been hard to watch the steady decline of support. Transportation is easy with both the GO and TTC have stops on site. I ride in on the GO from Long Branch, and it really saves money and effort driving down to the CNE. Beer is expensive, as is most of the food. Buffalo chicken fingers and fries shouldn't be $11. There is some neat variety with Taco FC and Real Sports Grill, and i love me a scotch egg with buffalo sauce on it (instead of Marmite, ugh!) read more

Finally went to my first TFC game with moro mou a few weeks ago. Location is great, was only a 10 minute walk for me as a CityPlace resident. There was ample parking available at $12. The BMO Field stadium is great! Line ups to get in moved quickly and staff were efficient. There are tons of food and beverage stalls inside so quick access to beer as well. Washrooms were extremely clean and modern. Overall facilities were great and well kept. Problems: a) If it's raining or extremely hot, you are f*cked. I got a very nice sunburn. b) Beer prices! Wow. Okay. I know this is the norm for any sporting event, but $14 for a large beer is pricey. Spending more on beer than your actual seats is quite possible here. read more

I'm a seasons ticket holder from day 1 and have seen (and tolerated) the evolution of this fabulous facility. I've sat in several different areas and watched different events, including MLS soccer, CFL and PanAm Rugby. First off, the every seat is a good one. Sight lines are good pretty much everywhere. For soccer, I would argue that the (cheaper) seats on the west upper deck provide a better vantage point than the 100 levels or the East side. 1. East side uppers have a steeper rake, so you get a bit vertigo climbing the stairs. 2. West side often has the sun behind you, so you don't miss any action from squinting. 3. Winds are predominantly West to East, which means that with the new roof, the rain still blows onto your lap if you are sitting in the East side. Having eaten at Rogers Centre, ACC, Ricoh and others, I can confidently say that this is the best stadium food in the city. If you're looking for cheap, go somewhere else. BMO has a good variety of food that all seem to be prepared with relative freshness. The large number of food outlets and bars has increased since opening day and the wait times have all become bearable. At least for guys, the washroom facilities are pretty good. The atmosphere is what really makes the place. Being outside with 20 000 devoted fans really can make the whole place hum. read more
