I have screwed up my checking account and called Customer Service literally crying and the kind ladies on the phone have really helped me. (Don't be concerned; I'm fine now, it was another stage of life not known for fiscal stability.) At this branch, I feel like between my husband and myself, we know everyone who works here. They ask about my Longarm Quilting machine as they helped me finance it! They have never charged me fees for using my debit card and have a great outline banking website. My only caveat? Don't overdraw or they will slap you silly with fees. It worked with me, I don't do it anymore!

Because every time I go in that branch...and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME...everyone is kind and cordial and they know me by my first name. I do my business banking there as well and the personal bankers ALWAYS go out of their way to assist me with bank wires and other transactions and have every ready for me exceptionally fast. My review is for FNBO in general and for experiences both at various branches and with the call…read morecenter. FNBO offers excellent products. Their credit cards have low interest rate and no balance transfer fees. Their Free Checking does not charge ATM fees when you use another banks ATM and is part of the Allpoint Network. They have ACH transfers on their online banking so you can pay a person directly to their bank account without forcing them to use an App such as Zelle, Paypal or Venmo. And they make the first $100 from mobile deposits available immediately. Their online only division, FNBO Direct pays very high savings account rates. Now the negatives. FNBO takes pride in being the largest privately family owned bank in the US. You should not be fooled when a business claims it is small or family owned, they can still provide you will poor service and treat you just like a number. In my case, on numerous occasions I have not found call center and branch reps to be very knowledgeable, nor do they necessarily value your longevity as a customer with them. In my experience, this bank generally fails to inform you of any expectations or policies that they may have that can affect you. When I made a large deposit to my account, they didn't just put a hold on the deposit, they froze ALL of my FNBO accounts for almost two weeks without telling me. When I reported my credit card stolen they CONTINUED to pay automatic payments with my new account number claiming this was the norm, my other banks didn't do that. They closed a small credit card with a $500 limit that I cosigned for my son who has had bad credit his entire adult life. My son had that card 17 years without a single late or missed payment. They waited 17 years to cancel the card? I have great credit and another FNBO card with a much higher limit. This is how they treat a customer of 17 years! And most cases when you call a branch, they don't help you. I called two Illinois branches to see if their ATM's accepted deposits because on the ATM locator, they weren't listed as accepting deposits. The people at the branches didn't even know if their own ATM's accept deposits. And they would transfer me to the call center where the reps were confused as to why my call was even transferred there.

Beware of Bank Financial!!! I was a joint owner on all my step fathers accounts for over 10 years…read moreand he passed away on March 16,2017. A week later I started paying some of his bills from our JOINT CHECKING ACCOUNT and went into the Joliet bank the next day to close out the safety deposit and was informed that they locked all of our accounts!!! I asked why and they informed me that my step father had a mortgage loan through them and he was the only one on the loan. So what!! I am a JOINT OWNER ON THE ACCOUNTS FOR OVER 10 YEARS!!! I asked will they pay the checks that I had written the day before and Noreen informed me they would not. I then spent over 5 hours on the phone with Ford for his car loan, city of Joliet for his water, Att for his cable, and Chase for his credit card to explain the situation and pay them over the phone out my own personal account and hope they wouldn't charge me for the checks that were going to be returned.They all understood and no none them charged the fee. So I get a call 4 days later from Noreen informing me that some checks are in and do I want her to put them threw. What? She told me 4 day earlier that they wouldn't. I said no. Then she asks me if anyone is living at the house and have I started emptying it. Who asks that? He wasn't even dead 3 weeks. Anyway with what we had in our accounts that they were holding and what he owed on the mortgage if we were to pay off the mortgage we would have only owed around $70,000. The house was valued at $200,00. I then preceded to get the house ready to put it on the market. My 24 year old daughter suddenly passed away on April 17, 2017. Our world went in a tail spin. We still continued to work on the house and wait for our lawyer to give us letters of office. They came in May and I brought them to the Joliet bank. I them waited 5 days for the hold to come off. It did not. I then called and spoke with Mary Tritsis and she reviewed the documents and said I guess I will let them take the lock off. What?? You have a copy of the will, the death certificate, and letters of office what more do you want. I put the house on the market for sale by owner and sold it within 18 days for $200,00. Four days after closing I went in and closed all accounts. So now not only does Bank Financial not have our accounts but they no longer collecting interest on the mortgage. How stupid is that? Good going Bank Financial. I called 5 other banks and all said they would never hold JOINT ACCOUNTS. I want everyone to beware of this bank. No other bank would do what they did. Chase, Bank of America, and BMO now have my business.
