There's ample space, glazes, wheels, kilns. Whether you're new to the wheel or an experienced hand builder, you'll love it here. They hold monthly events where you can do special firing, such as raku & they offer one time wheel. I have worked with Clay for over 15 years, and I recently came back to it through Oak knoll. In dealing with a dexterity issue, Dani, my instructor, and Amy created tools to assist me with learning and mastering the wheel. I've taken a short break as my dexterity issues have persisted, but I'll never forget their kindness and accommodations. Also, everyone I've met through classes has been extremely nice. 6 of us decided to do resin boards as a fun Sunday activity! We made a reservation, picked out…read moreboards in advance, and we arrived and everything was set up and ready to go. The staff was so helpful with the process as we didn't know what we were doing. They walked us through each step and gave us a lot of choices for colors and also images for inspiration. We took over 3 hours to create our boards and we were all super happy with the final product. They close at 5pm on Sundays but we ended up there much later completing our projects and we never felt rushed. Thank you, Craftworx! The studio is bright and clean and welcoming. They service wine and drinks and snacks! There are so many different projects to choose from! We can't wait to pick up our dry resin boards (they have to sit and dry for a few days) and we are already planning our next projects!

Now, I'm no expert at painting, but I appreciated how difficult it was to get the colors, shadows, lighting, textures, and movement right. I enjoyed mixing colors and trying my best to paint the right strokes. Our instructor, Juan, made painting approachable and fun. He brought humor to our class as well. There were other staff helping to make sure people didn't run out of paint colors, especially yellow and white for this painting. This was still a timed class so we didn't have a ton of time to learn exactly how to paint certain parts right. Overall, everyone's paintings came out great, with each person bringing their own take on the prototype painting. Like other painting classes, you can bring drinks and snacks. But, I didn't eat anything because I was so focused on the painting. I would recommend eating prior to the event. As a group activity, this is great as a team bonding and relaxation experience. I would definitely come again with friends or family.

Purchased three groupons for my sister birthday the day of her birthday. We were late due to…read moretraffic, rain and not being from the Katy area. Michelle our instructor was understanding in these matters and she jugged both the students who were their on time, who were 15 mins into their paintings and my family who were settling in. Michelle got us up to speed within 10 mins of our arrival. The example painting was very intimidating for first timers, but Michelle dissected each section of the example painting with efficiency but realistic tips and tricks. She was super helpful in aiding us with aspects that were to scary to attempt on our own. Their was a 5 minute break were you could sip and snack, but we mostly kept painting because it fun and relaxing. Top 40 hits was playing in the background which allow me to relax even more, and sing lowly the lyrics. Overall we had a blast. Recommendations: wear clothes you can get paint on, you have an apron, but things happen. Have a small bag with you, big hand bags take up space under the table. If you have a Groupon deal, print it before you come. Bring a small sitting pillow, the old backside gets numb when you sit for 2 hours on small plastic stool. Its a unisex restroom, go easy on the liquids. Have a protective cloth and space in your car for transport of your masterpiece after. All in all we had a grand time.

There is also a camaraderie that develops with the other students in the class. Although none is painting the same thing, we all learn from each other by listening to the directives given by Sheri. Her studio is spacious, and coffee and snacks are available. This is not a "one-lesson go home with a painting" place. You turn out a professional, beautifully detailed painting that may take you 4 weeks to complete, but it shows the work and talent which went into creating it. It is a relaxing 3 1/2 hours a week (you can certainly take more than one class a week, she offers 3) in which you create something of beauty and enjoy other people's company. He was great. An awesome instructor. I messed up plenty of times and he was there to help my painting look more... artistic as if Picasso painted it himself, instead of a toddler just painting.
