We had no idea what we were in for, but we sure were happy we stumbled upon this gem! The selection of cheeses is chef's kiss--so many varieties, all expertly curated, and the staff is happy to walk you through the options like they're your personal cheese concierge. The vibe? Cozy, welcoming, and totally unpretentious. It's one of those places where you can feel fancy without feeling like you're trying too hard. And don't even get me started on the wine pairings... If you're a fan of cheese (and who isn't?), this is definitely a spot you need to visit when in the area. Honestly, I'll be dreaming of that cheese board the next time I'm in Cincinnati, and you bet I'll be back! 10/10, highly recommend.

The staff member was really nice and welcomed us in and asked if we had any questions. I was tempted by all the delicious cheese options, but opted for The Chopper because I'm a sucker for a good sandwich. From the street you wouldn't realize there's a whole back patio area and when the staff member told us I had to check it out and snap pictures. It was so cute and shaded, a great spot for a lunch or to hang out and enjoy some charcuterie with friends. We enjoyed sitting out there while my sandwich was being made and they brought it back to me. It was wrapped up so nicely and the chopped ingredients make it so every bite has a little bit of everything in it. So good! We ended up walking around the area before heading back home and there are a lot of cute places on the block.

I will be making time in my schedule to go back. We ordered the small cheeseboard and added charcuterie. It contained their 3 main cheeses as well as small bits of fruit, nuts, and other goodies that were located with the cheeses that they would complement. We asked what type of meats came with the "charcuterie" option and we were told "whatever is on the slicer right now" but that they were all locally made- or at least regionally made. That works for me and both selections were delicious. We also bought the special chocolate chip/cheese cookies they had for the event and they were fantastic. What I really want to talk about is the cheese curds though. We bought some to take home (you can buy everything they use on the boards in their retail area too by the way). They're so flavorful and fresh. I'm going to make poutine with those and some fries from Heyday down the street and I expect great things. The space was clean and inviting and the service was amazing. Everyone was kind and knowledgeable about the offerings. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

He dramatically stormed the back entrance of his work station to approach us in the common area of the market to "beat our asses." We have since learned that his name is Sid. That's him in the blue cap. Why? Twenty minutes earlier, we'd stood in a long customer line that went all the way back to the next vendor. Sid repeatedly ignored the line by helping random customers who congregated in front of the line. After waiting an inordinate amount of time, he finally worked his way to us, and that's when I decided to call it to his attention. I wasn't rude or nasty; he just didn't like being called out! "Do you want to place an order or not" he says. I ignored his surliness and attempted to place an order. "Just shut up already" he added before I could get my words out. He pushed the final button, and for a hot minute, I sank to his level; we traded profanities and then I left with my companion. We didn't have to think too long to decide that his flagrant display of disrespect was not acceptable. We chose to launch a formal complaint. To show exactly who we were dealing with, we came back to snap his picture. We told him that he didn't get to treat us with such disregard and expect us to spend our money with Gibbs. That's the moment he lost his mind! Before the situation escalated any further, we left the establishment again, this time seeking the assistance of John Bird, the director of Market Operations, at Findlay Market. Mr. Bird assured us that he would talk with Claire and Jeff, the Gibbs owners, but warned that any disciplinary actions would be up to them. Weeks went by, and we decided to reach out to Gibbs ourselves. Over the phone, Jeff acknowledged that he definitely heard from several sources what happened. He gave us a weak apology and tried to justify Sid's behavior. We all have bad days, but there is no justification for Sid's arrogance, anger, and unprofessionalism. We're not of the customer-is-always-right school, but Sid was WRONG! It was an ugly and extremely uncomfortable situation. We shop at the market on a weekly basis, and don't feel as if we have to tip around a powder keg. Perhaps that's how Gibbs feels about their repeat customers. Perhaps that's how they do business these days - a tap on the wrist for ugliness that would've gotten anyone else fired! Yes, we think Sid should be FIRED! Oh, and might I add the employee pictured in the red cap cursed us and royally gave us the middle finger as we walked away. For all of these reasons, we're no longer Gibbs' customers - and Jeff agreed that was a determination we had to make. Now that you know what we experienced, perhaps you will choose to be a former Gibbs customer as well. As easily as it happened to us, it could happen to you!

Specifically, I was making sandwiches this weekend and wanted a fresh tomato to slice up and add on as a topping. I was in luck. The store is definitely bigger than I expected and there were all kinda of grocery items, many from local vendors. My favorite item that I purchased was some delicious bread from 16 Bricks Bakery. The prices all seemed fair, maybe a little more than you'd spend at a big chain grocer. They also had great local (and regional) Kombucha on tap - how cool is that?! There wasn't anyone at the front of the store when we arrived, but upon ringing the bell, someone popped up and was able to assist us. I'll definitely come back to get some great items from local vendors.

It was good, but nothing crazy special and a bit pricy for the size in my opinion. My friend ordered the same but with half chicken salad, half egg salad--which I wish I did to try both! I think they're actually more known for their pickles (cool to see they also offer fermentation classes) so I'd be interested in trying their Pickle Boat and some cold salads next time. (Also wish my sandwich came with a pickle!) There is both interior and exterior patio seating and lots of pig-themed decor throughout the store. This wouldn't be a regular spot for me because of the price-to-portion size ratio, but I would be excited to come again to try more of their menu.
