My Mr. and I been wanting to try this place for sometime. We called and asked on the wine tastings. You have to make reservations. Which with it you get a cheese plate. We were sold and made it for 5:30 pm (tastings are from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) on a Saturday. We walked in the owner was super friendly and very knowledgeable on the wines. I love how the place was cozy, spacious and just newly remodeled. For a small place, they have so much to offer. Catering, lunch, brunch, desserts, gift ideas, small section for craft beers to go, cheese and crackers to go, patio and offer door dash! Whew! So much that I was impressed! When we sat down, we didn't have to wait, our cheese plate was already ready. They serve the wine tastings at your table. Such great service! Our wine tasting for the night are whites. The cheese plate was delicious and filling (with crackers) with two chocolates (milk and dark) to finish off as dessert. We tried: -True Colors Cava Brut -Palladium Pinot Grigio -Sittano Chardonnay -Bosco Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Superiore My fave is the cava brut and Pinot Grigio. Very great selection that paired well with the cheese. After we finished we looked around. You will be super impressed with the wine selections. Very organized and categorized by regions. Red blends, white, Italian, French, Rioja, Rose, sparkling, etc... we ended up buying a bottle of Sangiovese which was reasonably priced. Once we were seated, the first bottle was popped open, and the wine was pouring. For this tasting, they featured True Colors Cava Brut, Palladium Pinot Grigio, Sottana Chardonnay, and Bosco Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Superiore. All the wines were excellent, especially the brut and pinot grigio, and the cheese plate was delicious and filling. After my lady and I enjoyed all those goodies, we took a look around at the place. I recently went into Z Place for Wine with a large group of ladies celebrating some birthdays. It took us a while to figure out what we wanted, but the staff was very helpful and understanding. We got 3 bottles and a cheese plate. The cheese plate had a good array and selection of cheese and crackers. The staff kept us filled up with water and brought extra glasses as more of our party arrived. They were even willing to split up the check. Excellent service and selection. I met a couple of friends there for a quick light dinner partly because I had been a customer since it originally opened and wanted to see what the new owner had done. My last visit was unfortunate but that was over a difference of opinion concerning sales tax on gift cards. We all got the same basic meal; chicken salad either on a croissant or a bed of greens. The service was fine but then again, we were the only ones there. Having had that meal many times before, I was disappointed in the lack of tomatoes usually in the mix. Plus, crackers were also absent. No glasses of water were offered either. The biggest disappointment was the wine. My friend ordered Pinot Grigio and she rarely complains but couldn't believe it was a Pinot. She asked but was assured it was. She really didn't like it. My Cabernet was just so- so. Really my complaint is predominately with the service. It was my birthday and I just had a baby about a week ago, I was looking to get a nice charcuterie board to eat with my friend. She seemed irritated with us just by us being there when no one else was in the middle of the day. Once we got our plate it was pathetic. It had barely anything on it, not even bread or something crackers, guess you have to get that separately. She then ignored us the entire time we were there. I'm still sitting here at this cute little place in awe of the ambiance they have created. It's wonderfully welcoming and the staff is amazing. We came for a wine tasting and we couldn't order the normal charcuterie board because we don't eat meat or cheese so the sweet woman went back and created a delicious, beautiful, and vibrant board that we could eat. I'm going to clarify this review and say that it's possible I just went on an "off night." The reviews that others gave, especially Elite reviewers, were pretty outstanding. So...I might have to give this place another shot. I went for a tasting with a few friends. I was looking forward to trying a few wines and relaxing with my friends, catching up. I think they were short staffed for the number of folks that were there, which happens. While we did get to enjoy the wines that were sampled, other than being encouraged to buy them, I didn't feel like we learned much about them. For me, it was fine because I've tried such a wide variety of wines and been to a number of wine tastings, but for my friends, there just wasn't any info provided, which was a bummer. I'm a big believer in supporting small businesses, so I was disappointed with the service experience and what felt like pushy sales. I'm the kind of person that always buys a bottle on my way out the door, but I skipped it this time because I just felt pressured into it. Again though, I will give this place another shot. IN SUMMARY- Good food. Great wine. Try it out. Don't let them touch the bottle to the glass. DETAILS: I love-love-love the idea of Z place, but they have some executional problems that need to be addressed. We live up the street (can walk) and have stopped in a number of times. The food is surprisingly good for a wine place, almost part deli. Chicken salad and cheese trays look amazing under the new ownership, and the wine selection is simply great - lots of variety, good price point, easy to shop, no issues here! My opinion of the ambiance of the space itself is that it is a bit sterile..one big room. I would personally break it up some how into smaller tasting/seating sections to make it more cozy. Perhaps dim the bright white fluorescent lights a bit. Play some nice music throughout the space... these is a personal preference I suppose, so just sharing. I would stay longer and purchase more if there was good music. My pet peeve, and the negative part of the review, especially in the time of covid, occurs when you are doing a wine tasting and the pourer ***touches the top of the wine bottle to your glass when filling it***. This effectively means I have shared my glass with every other glass that the bottle has touched... probably 30+ people during a tasting event. I have commented on this when it happens, made excuses about having a bad cold, said things like "we are all going to die", etc. but it never seems to change. Please train to keep this situation from happening! With that said, I would give the place a chance for the wine and food. I suppose wine and food are the whole point, after all, right? We were here for the 1st time about 3 weeks ago and I had to share our experience. We had a reservation on a Friday night for wine & a cheese plate for two. We walked in, and it was super busy with no tables available in site. The owner immediately greeted us and asked if he could help us. We told him we had a reservation and he found us a table immediately! He was so pleasant, friendly offering to get us our food then pointed us in the direction of tasting. We had planned to get dinner when we were done but ended up trying their amazing chicken salad! We will definitely be back here. The atmosphere, the music, the management couldn't be better. Ok so what a little hidden gem. Been here for years and I never new it. Tripped over it and had a great time. Wine tastings, a nice menu to sit for a lunch or lite dinner. Cheese boards for in and to go! I was in mortgage banking for years and wow what a no brained for Realtors wanting to make a big impression at open houses. Or call ahead for something to bring for a party or bring home for the weekend. And again the wine is varied and priced well. I buy a portion for home to use with bagels instead of using cream cheese... so much more flavorful! A friend and I found this place while looking for places to enjoy some wine on a girls trip in Cincinnati. Z Place is a super cute little wine shop. They have a big selection of wine at very reasonable prices. You buy the bottle and pour your own wine into glasses. They have a small seating area where you can sit to eat and drink. What you don't finish, you take home. We ordered a cheese plate that had some of the best cheese spreads we've ever had. We would highly recommend visiting! read more

Z Place off of Cooper Road in Montgomery is a place "for wine, cheese, and more" they say. They have lots of wine and thus wine tasting, which I guess is where the cheese comes in, but as far as the "more," the store also functions as both a little restaurant and shop. Food-wise they have turkey, ham, tuna salad, and chicken salad sandwiches, some of which come on Ciabatta. I tried samples of both of their chicken salads at the insistence of the person working (I think she was the owner), and I liked both even though I don't generally enjoy chicken salad all that much. They also have three soups per day, one of which is the popular tomato bisque, and on the particular day I went in they also had chicken tortilla and vegetable soup. Outside of food, they also sell some jewelry, rugs, greeting cards, and silverware I saw, in addition the many fine wines. Z Place also advertises their pastries (insert that above in the food list) and they will host private parties in their store as well. For just a small store with a limited number of products and food items, they really seem to offer a lot. I really liked the store, and they are very friendly and helpful too. If you are in to wine tasting or are looking for a change in pace in the lunch scene, then this is "Z Place" for you (bad joke, I know). read more

First, I really must say I love Z Place, the gazpacho soup is amazing, and their sandwiches are awesome! I've always had a great experience here from the food to the service and wine tastings. Second, I hardly ever leave negative reviews for places and always try to chalk things up to "maybe they are just having an off day." But today I felt was a little more then an "off day." When I entered Z Place there was no one manning the counter, so I waited for a couple of minutes as there are bells on the door so maybe they heard the gentleman that left through the door I opened and didn't know I was there. After waiting a few more minutes I decided to just say hello, in case I was overlooked. A frazzled voice shouted from the back, "I'm busy!" I was a little taken aback and more so when she came out from around the wall that had hidden her from view very annoyed and informed me that she was helping a customer. She was gone as quickly as she had appeared. There was a table of two that looked as though they had been dinning a while and one gentleman, the customer she was helping, sitting outside. Other then that, the place was empty. As she bustled past me on the way to bring him his salad she made no effort to acknowledge me and instead of dropping off his salad and returning she stood outside chatting with him. At this point I no longer had time to pick up a quick cup of soup or sandwich on my lunch break and as it didn't look as if she would be heading in to take my order any time soon I returned to work empty handed. Even when I walked past her outside as I was leaving she made no acknowledgement that I too had been a customer and didn't seem to mind losing the business. This has not been a normal experience for me in the past. I'm not one who is impatient for service or who rushes around and I love that the women who usually work here take their time with guests. I've never felt that I've been a bother here, or been ignored until today. Even when they've been busy I've received a, "I'll be with you in just a minute" upon entering and a real effort to respect each and every customers time. This was far from the experience I received today. I want Z Place to succeed and be great, I often suggest it to clients as I work just up the street. As I have not been to Z Place in a while I dearly hope this is not a normal business transaction. I'm embarrassed to have sent people here if this is the case and am having second thoughts on returning from this experience alone. read more

Great place for wine & cheese! They have a range of wines at all price points. My friends and I came for a Friday night wine & cheese pairing. Every thing was delicious and the guys working there were very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. The cheese board we had included a blue cheese tort with caramel bourbon pecans layered in. WOW. We completely devoured it and bought a half pound to take home, along with a half pound of the blue cheese basil pesto torte!! I recommend the pesto ciabatta turkey sandwhich, and then always a bag of chips and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Zoe was always very friendly but it is under new ownership and Kes and Bob go above and beyond for a great selection of wines and continuation of the above recipes and sandwiches as well. My coworker and I were recommended to go for the chicken salad during lunch- apparently they are known for this.. and I agree that it was very good. We decided to also try a few other items on the menu- the chicken chili (unfortunately was lukewarm -bordering cold- with rubbery chicken) and the Gouda bacon jam grilled cheese (which sounded amazing, but see photo attached) This is half of the chicken salad versus half the grilled cheese- but the same price!! It's ridiculous to have to complain about a grilled cheese but my 11 year old makes one that looks and tastes better than what we were served.The worst thing is they ran out of 2 main ingredients of the sandwich so it really shouldn't have even be advertised. The gentlemen there rectified the situation by offering to give another menu item. However the lady came up to us a few minutes afterwards - I thought to offer an apology- but instead with excuses of the back ordered jam and how we should have asked for substitutions to the sandwich. Even though it was advertised as a food and wine tasting class, they did not serve different foods with each wine or even suggest foods to go with the wine. They simply put out a tray with cheese and crackers in which you could help yourself to at any point. So do not go hungry. Although the class was misleading, the instructor was very knowledgeable. This is an excellent shop and great place to eat. I often go here with my husband to purchase wine for our dinner parties. The owner, Zoe, is always incredibly friendly and offers suggestions on what foods to pair the wine with. in addition to some amazing wines there is also a great lunch menu and large cheese section. I get sandwiches from the Z place quite frequently, and they are always delicious. The hospitality extensive knowledge of wine at Z Place is incredible. I called three days before a birthday girls night out I was planning to see if they would possibly do a wine tasting on a Saturday outside of their regular wine tasting and without hesitation they agreed and set up a great tasting for us. Beyond that, upon arrival the owner talked to each of the girls about our wine preferences and pulled two bottles for the group for us to enjoy on their cute patio. Amazingly, both bottles satisfied everyone in the group despite some varied preferences. The only thing about z place that wasn't great was the cheese selection. All the cheese offerings there at that time were very basic. To be fair this was towards the end of the day, so maybe they have more earlier. Just a little disappointing that there wasn't even 1 blue cheese option to enjoy with the great red wines. Overall though it was a great experience! I just wanted a place to sit outside and found it. The proprieter seemed very kind and accommodating and the outside seating is far enough from the main street to be a complete wash. The chicken salad is a bit creamier than I prefer, I'd like a more explicitly priced menu, and they could be more vegetarian friendly. BUT they have Orangina and that's a bonus for any lunch place. read more
