The only place to stay if you're on the Kemah Boardwalk. There are some other options nearby but it's nice walking out of the hotel and be immediately in the action. Only complaint is no room service or hotel bar/lounge. But the goal is to get you to the pricey restaurants and other entertainment choices. All good as long as you're aware. read more

Overall a great little Hotel. I'd recommend it, but there are some caveats- -A bit of a musty smell all throughout the place. I wasn't bothered, I understood they're Seasid, so there's going to be some moisture. -Although the room comes with a balcony overlooking the bandshell/stage/etc, the muisce was WAY TOO LOUD. I would give this 4 1/2 if I could but there were a few minor problems. The good, great room with live music out the balcony. The room was insulated enough that my son was able to sleep when it got late. The staff was amazing, they gave me a razor when I needed and when we forgot my son's old school iPad charger they had a spare one we could borrow. The pool was nice as well. The only hiccup was our fire alarm started beeping and the staff had trouble with it at around 9:00. Also the internet would switch between working and not working. My wife and I made a two-day getaway to the Boardwalk Inn in Kemah. The room seemed fine except that the toilet was running intermittently. I reported it and the maintenance man was there promptly the next morning. Unfortunately, he was not able to solve the problem. I did, however, receive a call from Jessica, the manager, who graciously offered to move us next door to a beautiful two-room Suite at no additional charge. There was an adjoining door so all we had to do was move our things between rooms at our convenience since our original room would not be rented again until the toilet was repaired or replaced. The Suite was wonderful, we could enjoy the band playing on the plaza from our balcony, and we enjoyed our second night there very much. To top things off, I believe that this was the same Suite that we enjoyed for our honeymoon 25 years ago! So, we came back full circle to that place and time, making it a special moment for both of us. Thank you, Jessica, for turning a no-so-good situation into a memorable one! read more

My company had our yearly sales meeting at the Boardwalk Inn & Event Center. I arrived on Monday evening, and everything was fine. The room was large and comfortable with a balcony opening onto the Kemah Boardwalk. There was a small table that served as the desk in the room along with a king-sized bed, a chair and ottoman. The main complaint about the room was there was no cable or satellite TV, only local channels and the reception was terrible. I didn't even bother trying to watch TV. Lastly the Wi-Fi signal was very weak, making it unusable most of the time. I awoke at 5am on Tuesday morning to a large bang/crash in the room. When I turned on the lights, I saw that the picture that was on the wall above the table had fallen onto the table. I took a picture of it, not thinking about my laptop that was sitting on the table when I went to sleep. In the morning I realized that my computer was on the table under the fallen picture. I removed the picture and found out that my screen was cracked. Everything else on my computer worked fine, even the touch screen, but my screen needed to be replaced. I went down to the front desk with my laptop to talk to the manager. I was told that the manager was not there, but that he would send this to him, and he would get back to me. He asked me to forward to him the photo I took of the fallen picture via text, which I did. I gave him my cell number and asked the manager to call me anytime, as I am in the conference center in a meeting. The next morning came, and I stopped by the front desk again to see when the manager was going to contact me. I told them that it was going to be my last day there and I really needed to speak with someone before I was to leave on Thursday. I was told that the manager was scheduled to be in the hotel the whole day after 9am and they would make sure he contacted me. At my 11 am meeting break, I went to the front desk and asked if the manager was in, and they said he was and called him for me. After a bit, he came to the lobby and introduced himself as Robert Gregory, General Manager and he told me that he had reported it to his home office yesterday and that someone should be contacting me in the next couple of days to tell me what the next steps are. I thanked him and asked for his card. The next day on my way home from the airport I received a call from Jennifer (HR Claims) for the Boardwalk Inn and she asked me what happened. I told her the story and she asked that I take photos of my computer screen and send them, along with the photo of the picture laying on the table at 5am. She also asked me to get an estimate of the cost of repair of the laptop. So, on my way home from the airport I stopped at Unique Geek in Valparaiso and received an estimate of the repair ($588.49). I emailed all this information to Jennifer on 11/10/2022 and sent follow up emails on 11/15/2022 and 11/18/2022. As of this posting (11/22/2022) I have not heard back from the Boardwalk Inn, so I wanted to update my review on this hotel to let everyone know to stay here at YOUR OWN RISK... I have tried to resist writing a review about this place, especially a negative one, while I am still a guest here. I am just super "underwhelmed" by this place for the price. Even turned up all the way, the water is just warm which did not make for very pleasant showers. Also, most channels on the tv are fuzzy so you can barely see the picture (photo attached). I reported this twice and was told that all of the tvs are like that. . I paid extra for a King Bay View room but mostly what I see is the front and sides of buildings and not much of Galveston Bay. My husband and I just completed our stay at the Boardwalk Inn in Kemah. I'm making the Inn aware that there are inconsistencies and serious omissions in the hotel's advertising. The Inn offers daily housekeeping and laundry services and amenities - which it has neither, which is unacceptable to those of us who book hotels with those available. One omission is that the tv's are not Smart TV's - only by reading old reviews can that be found. My handicapped husband and I stayed in room 403. The room seemed clean, but the bathroom had mold, mildew, and a serious lack of towels for a 3-day stay with no housekeeping services, which was never disclosed. Lastly, the elevator from the 2nd floor to the ground floor was out of service during our entire stay. This made it extremely difficult for my husband and me to navigate the area. I voiced my issues to Mark at Expedia, who contacted the property. I was denied any reimbursement or compensation for these things we experienced. I will be posting this review to several platforms including Expedia, Travelocity, and Yelp. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Booked a suite ($850), after noticing blood on the pillows and pests crawling on the couch I called and reported bed bugs. Ruined my entire trip. UPDATE: reached out today and was told I received a $200 refund and after having the room tested it was "some other kind of bug" not bed bugs. Bedroom side table looked like a carpenters work bench. Vinyl counter separating at seams. Smoke alarm chirping. All would have made sense had I paid $99 for the night. Nice location. The pool left something to be desired. There Is a spa/hot tub that has no controls, when we inquired about this we were told that it comes on by itself. It never came on. They pool itself is tarped with sort of blue plastic. There are lots of bubble air pockets in the flooring of the pool floor. The music outside at the pool has two different speakers playing two different songs. So it depends on what side of the pool you're sitting on and what you hear it's awful. The TV is fuzzy and does not get a clear channel. Also, the amount of dust on the lamp almost made me leave. Bonus the ac works and the staff was nice. read more

This is a great place to stay. With the proximity to the boardwalk it is the best place to stay if you want to explore the boardwalk without having to drive there. The room was very clean and quiet, and everything looks maintained. The sinks and tub were also very clean and freshly caulked. Now, the offset to this, though very minor, makes for not having the perfect stay. First, they had only two towels, two coffee cups (there was a Kuerig in the room, so the station should have more cups), and one hand towel. The front desk stated they didn't clean longer stay rooms daily, but with that they should provide more than just two towels. Overall a great experience and I can't wait for my next trip to Kemah. read more

This was the worst experience of my life. I paid for 4 nights. 1st night in my shower & toilet were clogged. Very disgusting. Went down to the front office & were nothing but rude. 2nd night our Ac went out. Again called them over to fix it, nothing was done. Our key fob to get into the room was not working so every time we tried to get into our room we had to walk back to the front desk & get a new one. Rooms looked outdated. Outside view was amazing. I didn't get any sleep the time I was there, walls are to thin. It was a nightmare. I don't recommend this place to anyone. False advertising makes it look like it's a perfect hotel when in reality it's a dump. Literally paid for 4 night stay, & left the 2nd night without a refund. UPDATE: management called me and offered a full refund and promise to amend the below issues. Worst rental stay we've ever had. We booked a 3 bedroom condo which is offsite from main hotel. Hotel seemed clean and upscale from check-in but these condos are not close to upscale. The walls were so thin I heard every foot step overhead and could hear audible words from the TV in the unit above us which ran all night. The beds were old and creaky with every move. Each had a sheet over the mattress and a pad and then just a comforter. No flat sheet. Extra linens were in a gabag on the floor. Our room was a view of the water & pavilion so we could watch the band & see the boats. The staff was nice. The bathroom was roomy so I liked that, the TV was huge, the bed & pillows comfy. Definitely have to bring your own shampoo & soap. They do have a lighted makeup mirror but the lighting was not good on it. The location was perfect because once we parked we didn't have to drive anywhere. Everything we liked was right there. Lots of restaurants, shops, the Daq Hut was great. The only thing reason I didn't rate it higher was because the ac was not cold enough for me & due to covid we had to ask for coffee& towels they said. Bedbugs!!!! We stayed last night and my daughter woke up crying at around 3:30 am. Right next to her on the bed cover was a bedbug!!! I know what they look like, so it was 1000% a bedbug. My husband started inspecting both beds and while we didn't find anymore, there were some old bloodstains on both bed covers. This tells me that there are definitely more either in our room or other rooms. I wanted to leave right then and there, but our other kids were asleep. I didn't get any sleep after that. We just stayed at Kalahari with 0 issues and hoped it would be the same in Kemah, but unfortunately this happened. Hopefully we aren't bringing any bedbugs home. I don't think anyone had any bites, so hopefully this was the only one in our room. Although I read some people don't show signs of bites. Here's a pic of it after my husband smooshed it. I wish I would have taken one when it was alive. When I checked out, I asked that management contact me about the issue and that they need to take care of it before future guests stay in the room. read more

This place is 3rd rate at best. I paid $1,600 for the boardwalk suite and the adjoining room. It smelled like like arm pit and there were rats and roaches everywhere. To top off the whole adventure we had a toilet back up and the room smelled like crap with 2inches of standing water. If you are used to 3rd world conditions then this is the place for you. 2nd to pooping in a hole in the ground is pooping with 2inches of your own poop floating around. Also the jacuzzi was broken and the pool was freezing. Also the staff is unsympathetic and blames you for any problems with the room. Save your money go to San Luis in Galveston which is the same price but you get treated like a human being. The Boardwalk Inn is conveniently close to alllll the attractions and sights that the Boardwalk has to offer. It's an older hotel but the rooms we stayed in on our last trip were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and the General Manager we worked with, Mr. Robert Greggory, was extremely pleasant and accommodating. The hotel does have a pool, but was not open during our stay. However, there is so much to do on the boardwalk that you may not even find time to use it. A lot of the rooms have balconies and you can observe the sights and hear/see live music. Parking is convenient as well. If you don't want to add to your walking, this would be a very convenient place to stay on your visit to Kemah. Note: rides do not open until noon and there really isn't anything open on the Boardwalk in the morning but a restaurant and Starbucks. Keep that in mind when you plan so you don't come late in the evening to spend the mornings here. (Rides close between 8-10pm depending on foot traffic and open at noon onward). It took me 15 minutes to get back into the garage, due to the ticket machine saying the garage was full and yet it was almost empty on the 2nd floor and those in the security office could not open it from where they were or bring a key card for the attendant. 2. After finally arriving to my room, the room key did not work, I had to contact the front desk who had to bring me a new key card. 3. The hotel room is not worth $251 per night. The rooms have not been updated since whenever. With the extreme price, I expected much better, than a MOTEL!!! 4. The tub stopper does not work, it goes down but is crooked and doesn't hold the water in. 5. Being on the 3rd floor, across from the restaurant is the worst location. The basketball goals and test your strength machines are right outside the window. Bubbles floated onto my balcony all evening from below, I could not continue to sit on it. 6. There is a fridge, but no microwave. 7. The rooms are not cleaned everyday!!!! 8. The balcony on the third floor facing the restaurants is dangerous because anyone could walk from one to the other on top of the roof, and therefore my balcony didn't feel safe. 9. No breakfast included!!! 10. There is breakfast, everyday room cleaning, and not the headache of a $25 garage at the hotels off the boardwalk!!! 11. I stayed here one night for a women's retreat. I had a single room with a King-sized bed to myself. Room overlooked the courtyard where shops and concerts are, had a spacious bathroom and general square footage, closet space with hangers, clean linens on bed and in bathroom, complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and hair dryer use. Extremely nice front desk gal who helped me use their wifi after multiple calls (Thankful for their patience with me!) The lobby area was clean and themed perfectly. Elevators located conveniently for easy access to rooms (right in front of the desk). Ample parking in the garage connected to the hotel. Direct access to shops from the hotel garage. We stayed four nights over Thanksgiving weekend - visiting family so we really did not go to the actual boardwalk area. Front desk accommodated an early check in because our of early flight arrival - but when we got into the room it was not very clean - we actually wiped down the furniture because of sticky substances on the dresser top. TV Channels were not available and the Wi-Fi was not working on the 4th floor. We called and told the front desk, they seemed surprised and said they would call someone to make sure to get it to work. As of our last day there, after several calls and talking with the front desk, still no wifi or tv channels available. In addition, we had to request multiple times for housekeeping and were told the rooms were only cleaned after we leave not during our stay. They did supply us with extra towels, toilet paper and kleenex when we asked. For four nights we paid over $1000 - for this amount, I expect better accommodations. I doubt we will be back to this hotel again. Employees were friendly but you can tell they are put in situations that are out of their control and sometimes have to straight out lie. Staff was extremely rude when our reservation wasn't immediately found. The hotel is in desperate need of an update and at $170+ per night, it's grossly overpriced. There is an odd musky smell throughout the hotel. I can't believe this place has as many positive reviews as it does. The staff was extremely rude upon arrival and the entire hotel had some awful musky smell. They could not find my reservation at first, which prompted them to become even grouchier. Then, as we head to our room, there are children playing in the hallway on air mattresses unsupervised. I called to let management know, and of course, was snapped at. It's extremely outdated at $300 per night. This poor other fellow was pushing around a whole cart full of luggage without help because there is no management or staff other than the front desk. What kind of hotel charges $300 per night and doesn't have valet or a bellhop? Answer: this one. We stayed an hour before I'd had enough and promptly checked out. I filed a report with my credit card company for dissatisfaction and will call Expedia and explain how awful this place is. HIGHLY HIGHLY overpriced and outdated. The carpet looks to have never been cleaned or replaced in 15 years. Save your money and rent a room at the San Luis in Galveston if you want to pay for an expensive room, it's cheaper there!
