Visited the Boars Head Inn for their Christmas light extravaganza, called Winter Wander. Wow!!! A must see !!! At any rate, we messed up our reservation and arrived later than we thought, but that was okay with the restaurant server and he got us a table right away. Impeccable service and the food was delicious! My husband ordered the elk and I ordered the quail, which all was so nice! Lots of flavor! The espresso martini was good and not overpowering. I give this restaurant 5 stars and if I could, It's expensive, but worth it! We are going back for our wedding anniversary and definitely birthday celebration dinner. This is a must go!!! I didn't get pictures of the food, but i did get the pictures of their Winter Wander.

I love coming here the staff is amazing and there is so much to do around here

Amazing staff, never had a bad meal here and SO much to do around here! Our room even had a peleton in it.

Great property. My company held a conference here and I was blown away by the service. The staff is so attentive and polite, it really made the stay that much better. Though some of the furnishings are not quite as modern as other hotels, it fits the older charm of the hotel and I wouldn't consider it to be "outdated" per se. the on-site gym is excellent with multiple tennis courts, swimming pools, and fully equipped gym. This is not your typical hotel gym with a few treadmills and a small selection of free weights. They have multiple ellipticals, treadmills, large selection of free weights, a cable stack, various weight machines, and benches. They also have lockers, showers, a steam room and sauna on site, which is perfect for me as I like to keep active while traveling. All the conference rooms and meeting spaces are nice and the food we had was great, though I'm focusing this review more on the hotel stay than food. I think this place would also be great for a romantic weekend getaway as it's very quite serene and tucked away.

My first visit to the Boar's Head Hotel. We were here for a golf weekend. It is a beautiful property nestled near the hills of Charlottesville. I had no issues with check in. Everything was explained thoroughly. My King room was lovely with mini fridge and coffee/tea maker. Nice bathroom with amenities. Sadly, I never got to use the spa or sports complex because of early closures on Sundays and a wicked Thunderstorms. Our group had a lovely dinner. The wheels came off the next morning. We needed to leave for the golf course by 8:15am. Our group was at the Mill Room for our included breakfast. It took about 25 minutes before someone took our order and we never got our food. It was finally boxed up and taken to the golf course for our group but of course it was cold with no utensils. An unacceptable situation. The golf was good, a fun morning. Everyone was very kind and I know good help is hard to find but for what they charge for this resort. Not good. I would like to return to check out the rest of the resort but I'm not rushing back.

most furniture is totally worn out

Nice property, Rooms are clean but exceedingly dated, worn out, barren walls, noisy AC, old TV technology, and spotty WiFi. Preposterously overpriced, stupidly restrictive cancellation policy (no refunds, no matter how far in advance you cancel for a fall weekend), and very inexperienced members of bell staff. The ride to our room upon arrival was around dumpsters, equipment sheds, and various maintenance facilities. Bellman didnt know where our room was or how we could get back to front desk. A few photos attached.

This review is for the hiking trails. They are very-well marked, giving you a few options of mostly well-paved paths. Dogs on leashes are allowed. You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere - though with some sneak peaks of the golf course. There isn't really any seating, but I did see one spot that had bathrooms. The harder path, which takes you up the hill/mountain, will eventually yield some nice views of the reservoir. With leaves falling this time of year, a walking stick or something like that would be good for the descent. Parking at the resort was pretty easy on a fall weekend morning.

We visited Winter Wander on a Saturday night and had a wonderful time once we got into the light display. A lot of traffic to park so plan accordingly. The line for drinks was incredibly slow and appeared to be understaffed and the few staff working would disappear occasionally which slowed things down tremendously. The lights display was good. I would recommend skipping drinks and just enjoy the lights.

Booked a staycation for my wife and I. We had two great nights! We had a premier king room with a balcony. Very well thought out and comfortable space. Dinner and room service was exceptional. The facilities outdo any hotel I've ever stayed at. As a guest, you are able to utilize a full fitness center gymnasium and fitness classes which we did. The adults only pool and kids pool were excellent. The spa was also very elegant and relaxing. We also utilize the complementary Lexus SUV to drive into town for a little shopping. We will definitely be back.

The room itself was comfortable, clean, and modern, with a lovely view that made it even more enjoyable. The hotel feels very well managed overall--everything just runs the way it should. Location is another huge plus--right near UVA and central to everything you'd want while visiting Charlottesville. Without hesitation, this is the best place to stay in Charlottesville. I had hoped that it would offer a high class experience, but it was just okay. The room had some minor aesthetic touches, but in substance was pretty standard. The entrance to the hotel felt a bit cramped, and the building seemed centered around the restaurant that didn't have much for me. The sheets caused some skin irritation, and I wish all hotels used the most hypoallergenic detergent available. From a service perspective, it was quite good. I was offered an early checkin and also took a late checkout, so I got a ton of time with the room. They also stored my luggage, including various baked goods, after I was done. So I got a lot of value out of the room. The question to me was how this hotel would compare to the others that are in downtown Charlottesville; would the experience be worth a bit more than the more standard Marriotts or various others. I was not convinced that it would be worth spending the extra money on.

I haven't stayed at many places that feel more like a five-star resort than this one. Driving up to the property felt like being in a car commercial, rolling hills, gorgeous scenery, and impeccable service waiting the moment we arrived. Check-in was seamless. We stayed in one of the rooms in the new wing, which was absolutely stunning. In 2017, the hotel completed a multi-year, $2 million renovation and expansion, and it shows in every detail. Our room overlooked the grounds and was part of the beautiful new addition. The room itself was spacious and elegant, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and a cozy nook perfect for reading or relaxing. The bathroom was equally luxurious and practically begged for a long shower. Waiting for us in the room was a handwritten note wishing us a wonderful mother-daughter trip, along with thoughtful gifts from the spa. Another nice touch: branded, reusable water bottles to use at the filling stations around the property. I loved this sustainability piece that doubles as a keepsake. During our stay, I walked the grounds, visited the spa, and toured the Southern Living Idea House which is on its ground, though honestly, this is the kind of hotel where simply staying on property feels like a vacation. Because we visited in winter, the pool was closed, but seeing it made me want to return in the spring. The fitness center was well appointed, the tennis court s and area were beautiful, and the championship golf course was gorgeous! I'm not a golfer, but I loved looking at this course from the mini windows and patios overlooking it! I'll share more about the spa in a separate review, but trust me, it is not to be missed. And the on-site restaurant, Marigold, is an absolute delight. Jean-Georges' effortless style comes through in both the ambiance and the food. We enjoyed two dinners and a brunch there, and I genuinely wish I could have eaten even more. Wow. Another standout perk is the fleet of BMWs available for guests to check out and explore the surrounding area. We chose to only venture out once, to Jefferson Vineyard, but there is plenty to explore in the greater Charlottesville area for those wanting more. In closing, this hotel is incredible! Perfectly styled and wonderfully relaxing. I will be thinking about it and my lovely time there for many years to come!

We also dined at Marigold each morning for breakfast, as it was included in our stay. The omelet was amazing! We ate at Marigolds for dinner as well the last night, and the food was truly unbelievable. There's clearly a focus on fresh, local ingredients, and the menu offers something for everyone. Highly recommend the truffle pizza and the shrimp salad! We also took advantage of the spa during our stay. We each had a massage / facial. The spa was also beautifully set up, and I really enjoyed the steam room and sauna. The only thing that would've made it even better is if there was a private pool for the spa guests to use as well. The massage was wonderful though and very relaxing! We also got to enjoy the pool. It wasn't too crowded and the pool itself was luxurious. Keswick Hall is truly a gem in Charlottesville. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

Coffee maker and mini fridge are tucked away on either side of the dresser. We enjoyed a dip in the heated indoor pool and a nice soak in the hot tub before bed. Our mattress was firm and comfortable. The shower pressure decent, the room quiet and the view pleasant. The first morning we had a tuscan strata which was AMAZING and definitely our favorite breakfast. The next morning we had Eggs Benedict and the last morning we had a Peach French Toast, which we enjoyed as well. Everything went smoothly. She was very friendly and accommodating. We actually loved the curvy roads leading up to the winery and hotel. That portion of the trip would've been better in our roadster for sure! We were checked in by a friendly gentleman named Thomas. He gave us a room next to the outdoor pool. Finishings kind of reminded us a little bit of the accommodations. It was peacefully decorated, and mostly comfortable except for the couch. We were only using it to lounge in and something more comfortable would have been desirable. I took advantage of the dry sauna and hot tub, which was a short walk across the parking lot. We tried to take advantage of the grounds by walking around the small lake and through the fields. If they were in a dedicated walking trails, we didn't find them!
