Review 400 for me, and a well deserved business to mark this occasion. The Omni is a gorgeous hotel that bookends Main Street, overlooking the quaint cobblestone of downtown Charlottesville mall. Easy check-in with Nazred who explained the all-included garage parking and fitness/ pool/hot tub situation perfectly. Breathtaking view from the glass elevator showing off the tasteful holiday lights and decor from the Christmas season. Remodeled hallways retain the historic vibe whilst presenting clean and inviting interior architecture. The room is elegant: beautiful hand painted porcelain lamp stands with dimmer switch, classic lounge sofa with modern upholstery, and the most attractive headboard I've seen in any hotel. Coffee maker and mini fridge are tucked away on either side of the dresser. We enjoyed a dip in the heated indoor pool and a nice soak in the hot tub before bed. Our mattress was firm and comfortable. The shower pressure decent, the room quiet and the view pleasant. Coffee is purchased and served at the piazza bar and our dirty oatmilk chais this morning were delicious. Everything we wanted was a short walk from the hotel. We attended a ballet at the Paramount Theatre, Indian dine-in at an upscale restaurant (see separate review) on Main Street and breakfast at Iron Poffles & Coffee, across the street. Cannot recommend this place enough. Such a good fancy overnight date experience in a positive and welcoming atmosphere. read more

This is a fantastic hotel in every possible way. Customer service was professional and friendly, accommodations were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the location is superb, right along the "Downtown Mall" section of Charlottesville, and only about a mile from UVA campus. Parking in the on-site garage felt safe and was convenient, and the lobby bar featured a wide selection of drink options and ample seating. We only stayed one night, as we are just passing through the area, but I would most definitely stay here again. Worth the price, in my opinion. read more

I stayed at this hotel because I had NO other options. You would think that the Omni would have outstanding customer service, but that was not the case here.... I asked to check-in slightly early, and I was already dealing with someone who was already not in a great mood... If you're going to fake your customer service, at least try... However, the staff seemed extremely agitated, and I'm not sure what upper management is doing, but they need to teach their front desk, staff, and bartenders to learn some customer service... I would not recommend staying at this hotel because there staff do not know how to treat people (customers). read more

Loved this hotel!!! As others stated, it is undergoing a renovation but we too chose to stay here due to the close proximity to the downtown mall and some of the restaurants we wanted to visit. We stayed here for our anniversary, which I noted in our booking. Omni's Guest Experience Manager Meagen left an amazing surprise in our room- a bottle of sparkling wine, cupcakes, and a sweet note. It was so thoughtful! You will never forget those who go above and beyond like this for you. We love the close proximity to the downtown mall and our favorites- Jack Brown's, book stores, a wine store, and a new movie theater right next door! The hotel's renovations will surely be impressive. That being said, we did not experience any of the construction noise. We enjoyed the amenities in the room and felt comfortable. I loved the new decor and style in the room! Note: we were in a rush when we got into our room, so pictures were taken right before we checked out. The room was clean and everything put away perfectly when we got there, I tried to do my best to clean up for pictures before we left! I had always wanted to stay in this hotel during the Christmas season, and I finally got my chance! First of all, their customer service representatives are great over the phone. I ended up having to reschedule last minute, and they were super accommodating and helpful. With my rescheduling, I also opted to bring my whole family (two little ones) and upgrade to a suite for about $150ish more. Sweet deal, I'm glad I did! The extra room had a whole other bathroom, TV, pull out couch, and refrigerator. It was a great place to hang after the kids were asleep. It came with a small folding crib too, but it looked kind of old, so we went with our pack n play. The furniture and decor was a little outdated, but it was still charming. We liked our view of the downtown mall and our proximity to all Charlottesville has to offer, including a super easy trolley stop that brought us to the Grounds of UVA for free. For the holiday season, they decorate the atrium and at one point, there was even a little holiday concert. When we checked in, they gave us little activity packs for the kids. My daughter was a big fan of their cucumber water in the lobby, too. Our favorite thing the hotel had to offer was the pool and hot tub. It was just so cozy on a cold day. The hot tub is on the upper level, the indoor (heated!) pool is on the lower level, and the seasonal outdoor pool is right outside some glass double doors. There's a gym, too, if you're one of those people who is into exercising on vacation ;) They have a little bar/ restaurant which was pretty quiet and low-key. Our stay came with a free drink that my husband happily partook in. I will say the parking situation is a little confusing. Parking is free, but it's also a lot where you might end up paying if you don't know that up-front. We ended up having difficulty getting out of the garage and needed to call for assistance. Overall, it might become a holiday classic in our family. We look forward to returning. read more

The entrance to the hotel is lovely. We went up to a clean and comfortable room, on a high floor, as we requested. After a long drive we were happy to sit at the bar and drink our complimentary beverages. There is secure parking. If you do not want to have a valet get your car, you have the option of parking yourself for free. The breakfast room was lovely. There are a variety of choices (this is a breakfast that there is a fee for) prepared well and beautifully laid out. Although the hotel is right near the mall, most places were closed and we had to look hard to find a place for dinner. The hotel is not at all dated and we would recommend it. read more

Had a good stay here beds were comfortable and the room was impeccably clean the only problem was the curtains were not designed for day sleepers!! Might as well have no drapes at all as much light that came and when I went down to the front desk the man knew exactly what I was talking about and offered me a sleep kit !! If you know about a problem with light flooding in the room . That's a management problem that he or she hasn't fixed it !! That's why the 4 stars and not five . Hampton has the rolling shades in the track !!! And some Marriott has them now !! I drive tour buses for bands and must sleep in the daytime!! That's why I won't be there again!! This hotel is fine. Nice atrium, great location, free parking (which is a big deal in this location), rooms are pretty typical for a hotel of its type and age. But the lobby bar experience at the end of October 2023 was exceptionally weird. We saw this lovely bar setup, people sitting at the bar with glasses, someone standing behind the bar, so we went over and sat down on stools. No one seemed to notice us. A manager walked by and asked what we needed. A drink, we said. The bar was "not ready". Oh, not open yet? No, not ready to be used as a bar at all, apparently. The other bar was across the lobby and turned out to be a bar cart that must have had a rough night the night before; there were only a few glasses on its shelf and what the cooler had left in it would have shamed a VFW post. Zero liquor. We'd had a long drive and really wanted a drink, so we just shrugged and got a beer and a wine, and while we were sitting and drinking we watched as a couple walked up to the "not ready" bar and the manager person poured them each a drink. At this point, we were completely mystified and actually asked point blank why he was serving them when he'd refused to serve us. Oh, they'd wanted drinks that weren't available at the bar with no glassware and almost no beverages so he'd had to come over to the bar that was "not ready" to get their drinks for them. FWIW, there looked to be ZERO wrong with the "not ready" bar -- full complement of glassware, fully stocked as far as I could see -- but as we finished our drinks we watched staff remove all the stools from the "not ready" bar so no one would mistakenly assume the bar was more than simply part of the decor. read more

Guest Rooms are not accessible or ADA compliant. No barrier-free shower access. No grab bars in shower. Shower seat provided for tub did not have back to prevent falls. Bed too tall for independent wheelchair transfer. However, rooms were nice for patrons who do not have mobility limitations. read more

It is just off the downtown Pedestrian Mall and just a short drive to both the Charlottesville airport and to UVA campus. I stayed on the seventh floor. My room matched the hotel's ornate vibe. It wasn't completely outdated but didn't really appear to have bene updated recently. The outlet situation could have been better. And I'll second that the bathroom was pretty tiny. The staff was friendly. The price was right. The hotel was clean. Internet was free and reliable. The Omni boasts a heated pool and fitness center. Overall, Omni Charlottesville Hotel just needs a few updates-- but is definitely worth staying at. read more

I had an amazing time being hired to come do a speaking engagement and from pulling up and unloading the staff helped hold all my decor and information packets so I could park and assisted me with all my needs for set up. had a nice bathroom area near the area holding the seminar to do any last min touch ups on hair and make up. That day there were a few other conferences going on and we did get to network but during my lecture it was private and I could speak and take any questions clearly. This is a great place to hold seminars and speaking engagements, delicious food was provided and I hope to be back here to speak again :D read more

I have stayed here several times over the years, most recently the week of Labor Day 2024. I absolutely love this hotel. It's beautiful, has great rooms, onsite parking, and a great bar. The atrium is so unique, and it's so nice that it opens out onto the walking mall. The bartenders do a great job, they are always helpful. The hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in the area again. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a week while he was attending his on-grounds residency for his MBA program. The school set aside rooms for the students, so we didn't really have a choice in the hotel. And honestly I most likely would never stay here again, at least not by my own choice. Brownie points, they allowed us to bring our golden retriever after we called and asked (FYI: there is a $125 pet cleaning fee). The biggest perk about this hotel is its proximity to the downtown Charlottesville mall. It's within walking distance to a plethora of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, shops, and venues. It's also not too far from UVA, and I was able to walk from the hotel to Grounds a couple of times the week I was staying there with no issues. The rooms are incredibly outdated. The furniture, the wallpaper, the decor... everything feels like it was in vogue 20 years ago. It's definitely an older hotel and emulates that dated vibe. While the rooms were clean, it just didn't make for the most comfortable stay. There's no overhead lighting so I had to turn on all the lights practically all day if I was working in the room. The bathroom is very small. There's barely any clearance between the toilet and the door, and you have to shut the door to shower (to add to that, there's also no fan in the bathroom). There's also no conditioner, although they provide two different types of body cream. There is a parking garage with in and out privileges, which was a plus. You need your key card to get in and out of the garage. Upon arrival, pull up to the front of the hotel to check in and get your key card so you can then drive into the garage. You also need to the key card to use the elevators. There were a couple of times my card did not work right away and I had to retry again and again. Service was overall helpful and accommodating, with one exception. Typically, we asked for extra waters every day and we'd get them no questions asked. However, there was one time when my husband asked for a water and the front desk staff was about to hand him a bottle but all of a sudden, the manager on duty came up and reproachfully said it cost extra. It's not even like it was Pellegrino, Acqua Panna, or some artisan water. The attitude was what was particularly unpleasant. Overall, it's convenient to downtown mall, has vehicle in and out privileges, and is generally clean. However, I would highly recommend that Omni update this hotel to keep up with the other hotels in Charlottesville. read more

Our $600/night suite smelled like dog urine. Neither of the tvs worked - both audio and video problems. Low popcorn ceiling, small rooms, dark carpet, rock hard mattress and smelly flat pillows made me think I was in a cave. Staff said they'd send staff to help with the various problems but no one ever showed up. And no one offered us a different room. Customer service is poor and property is borderline disgusting so look somewhere else if you don't want to be disappointed. read more

If you've stayed at any other Omni hotel you're in for a shock when you roll up to a building that looks like a hospital on the outside. Then it gets worse on the inside. It looks like it was built in the 1970s. Half the rooms face into an atrium that makes them heat up a lot because of the greenhouse effect. Not the ambience I'm used to for the price. The AC in the rooms doesn't work, so it's uncomfortable. Really small bathrooms. Outdated amenities. read more

My daughter and her husband were celebrating thier anniversary so my daughter booked a $350 room. They drove 1 1/2 hrs to get there. When they try to check in they wouldn't let them check in because my daughter was only 20 and not 21. Though it never states that on thier website. Instead of canceling the reservation and just booking it into her husband's name, which he is 24, they rudely told them they are not allowed to stay there. My daughter got very upset and cried in the car all the way home. I have worked the front desk at several hotels and never turned away anyone who was over the age of 18. Not only will they never return to that hotel again, every place I can I will leave a review. BTW, she had her own bank card and driver's license and so did he. I believe they were overbooked, and were getting rid of customers where they were just getting a basic room. What a shame. Hopefully a woman who is being beaten by her husband or boyfriend and is not 21 is not turned away from just a place to rest for the night! How freaking rude!!!​​ read more

Very comfortable facility. Great bar and great food inside an immense atrium. Also a separate restaurant. Located at the beginning of Main St Charlottesville. This is a closed block for pedestrians, lined with restaurants with music. If relaxing and enjoying is on the schedule for a few days, this is a winner. Keep in mind this is a college town so depending on your preference scheduling your time here is up to you. read more

The hotel itself was very nice- it was my first time staying in an Omni. The concierge workers were nice for the most part, but clearly were not fully prepared for any questions about charges. I asked at check-in what the incidental charge/deposit was, and was told that there would be no additional charge. However, a $100 incidental charge was pulled from my account as well as the final charge amount. I clarified this with the front desk and they acknowledged the charge without any apology or acknowledgment of their confusion. Then, we had no issues until check-out, when they called me right after I left to say my card would not process, so I returned to the hotel. I told them I was confused, as the money had already been pulled from my account and the charge was processing. I was then told repeatedly that that is just a hold to ensure the funds are available, but that the final amount would need to be charged again, totaling over $1000 as I would have double the amount pulled out of my account at time of checkout (including the original charge and the second charge). Again, none of this was stated when given my confirmation, which if it is the case should be disclosed at checkin if the stated charges do not include additional charges. They stated that this would go back on the card after they charge the final amount (after 3-5 business days). I explained that the final charge and incidental had already been pulled from my account so the same charge again would not go through. The main attendant, who I assume was a manager (the others were very nice and seemed to just be doing their jobs), was incredibly condescending and kept reiterating the same thing about that being the Omnis policy- I continued to express that the charge had already been posted to my account and was processing. He continued to be unable to answer any questions about why and instead of determining what was not working on their end (as during check in, their computer was frozen and when it took a while, they told us it was fine to go ahead to our rooms) suggested I call my bank (why would my bank be able to do anything about money that is not there- they were already processing the charge and incidental, the issue is that double the confirmed charges would not be available in my account, since I didn't anticipate needing that available). Regardless, this experience was very disappointing as the hotel itself was beautiful, and Id love to have seen their other locations, but the check out process and ongoing charges has created another layer of stress to the end of a stressful trip. This debacle also made me late for another commitment. I would love to stay in an Omni again but the lack of disclosure, clarification, information regarding any charges that you could expect from the hotel, and patronization when attempting to understand why this is the situation has absolutely discouraged me from ever staying in an Omni again. Additionally, the main attendant told me "this is how hotels do it all around the US"- I explained that I've traveled across the country and never once had this issue with a hotel. Every hotel experience Ive had previously has pulled the initial charge at checkin, as well as an incidental, and then that was the end of it, and I assume they just authorize the hold after checkout. Never have I ever been charged double at checkout or had an issue like this. The other front desk employees were overly nice and apologetic, reassuring me that they can talk to accounting to see what the issue is, and every other employee interaction was very positive, barring the initial confusion about an incidental and then of course the check out payment issue. Once again, very disappointed and honestly very stressed about making sure the money gets back into my account, and that I am charged correctly. read more

Quiet Cons: Overpriced and rooms need updating. Also, they make you pay or join a rewards program for wifi.......!!!!!! No thanks! The Omni is in a great location and is decent but has some flaws. It's older and really needs to be updated. Carpet is worn, the rooms are outdated.and my night stand lamp had a charging outlet that was broken so had to move the bed. Hotels like this are the reason I have a surge protector that does both AC and USB. Another thing there are plenty of bars but no snack shops. The hotels store closes early. If you don't have 24 room service you need to have snacks for people. The staff is ok, not very motivated and you can see the lack of leadership. I stay in a lot of hotels.
