This review is way overdue, but I need to give credit to the amazing doctors, vision therapists, techs, and office staff at Boas Vision for going above and beyond our expectations! Our 16-year old son has complex visual issues related to cerebral palsy. He was evaluated by Dr. Mark Boas and Dr. Katherine Boas and participated in weekly vision therapy sessions primarily with Chrissy but Dawn filled in on occasion as well from September 2021- September 2022. He continued to use the tools that were part of the vision therapy tool kit during the past school year several times a week as he noticed how much they helped to reduce his visual fatigue. Last school year he improved his reading comprehension level by 2 grade levels! He has always enjoyed audio books or when we read aloud, but this was the first summer he read not just one, but five chapter books on his own for fun! This is a huge success for our family and we are so thankful to the staff at Boas for their commitment to excellence in diagnosis, treatment, and overall customer service. Over the years I have taken my son to many, many vision exams in different offices. I've watched him sit in exam chairs since he was 3, and get almost every letter on the chart wrong. There is always a point in every exam when I feel my panic and worry for his future overwhelm me- will he have enough vision to drive, will he be able to pursue his dream career? This was the first time where I felt more hopeful than worried. Suzanne Boas OD, was very kind and honest and helped us feel hopeful. My son told me in the car that usually he feels like his self esteem crashes after an eye appointment because he realizes his eyes are "trash", but that didn't happen here. I really liked my experience with Boas Vision Associates. They're still being very mindful of the pandemic and were taking precautions (including masks in the building) to prevent the spread. Each person I spoke with was very caring, and Ms Boas made sure to explain each part of my eye health to me in detail, which I've never experienced before. Truly overall a great experience. The optometrist didn't try to bulldoze me into getting glasses which I appreciated, and just shared some options and an explanation of how my benefits worked. I have been a life long patient and recently took to my daughter for an exam due to a medical concern. The front desk staff immediately answered our first call into the office for pre-check-in. Robert was our technician. He was professional and took the time to explain the why and how of each test. Next, we saw Dr. Katherine Boas and her assistant, Asia. Even an appointment which came in the middle of a temporary location period, owing to a complete remodeling/expansion of their offices, turned out to be an extremely good experience. I really love the doctors and staff at Boas Vision. I have had a few eye emergencies and they got me in to see a doctor right away. I had to have photos taken of the backs of my eyes and kept blinking when the bright white light flashed. The technician taking the photos was very patient with me until we finally got the photos.
